Im not an Entertainer nor have i ever been one but ive just noticed a very very disturbing trend happening lately, Entertainers are just dwindeling down to almost nothing these days, Coronet on my server you find like 8 or so entertainers there tops danceing in the cantina and there all in the front hallway.

What exactly happened to you guys and what can we do to start getting more entertainers in there and doing there thing again?

Was it The AFK macro Entertainers that drove out all the fun and intresting characters out of the game or was it just the fact that there was only so long you can stand in a room?

My personal belief on how to get intrest into your proffession again is More music and dances to work with for one, More clothing for entertainers, more effects and maybe more things to do (quests and such) and maybe even add some little combat (defensive only) to entertainers. Also redo all the cantina's to make them not the same in almost every NPC city out there.

Then repackage SWG and JTL into a Gold edition and sell it again and hype it up to get more new people into the game and refresh our poor entertainers and other proffessions that you never see anymore.

Of course this would need to be done AFTER the CBU and GCW patchs but do you all have any ideas???

Yes AFK enterainers are a big cause of the decline. There are many reasons for them impacting us and there are lots of threads in the dancer and musician forums discussing it. In summary the impacts are that the rest of the server finds no value in our profession because they see so many afk and think there is no effort to our skill, we are often treated like NPC or worse, our income is destroyed by 24/7 buff bots, the afk spam has made the cantina environment pretty hostile for us and our customers, and its not much fun being in a group of zombies.

All of your suggestions, except repacking the product, have been suggested. We are told that there is a revamp coming after the two revamps you listed. There are still entertainers we just tend to move out of the big cantinas and make our own content with our friends.

Yes..and more specifically, the buff bots. Combatters want a buff before fighting so they go to the bot as it is there 24/7 with no need to speak to it and no guilt if you don't tip. Their wounds & battle fatigue get healed during the buff process so they save themselves the extra time and effort it would require ofthem to get healed by a live entertainer. This is making it harder for entertainers to level (too bad our ability to gain xp is so dependent upon players outside of our professions). Bots also make a substantial dent in entertainers' potential income.

Psst... we're still scheduled at last check for revamps before the GCW revamp, not after. The CU is still in the forefront, but from all recent accounts, non-combat profession revamps are stillbeing planned to follow that. There are several "non-combat" professions to be looked at, so there will be something of a line of course, but it's not as bad as it sometimes seems.

Word on the street is still that entertainers (and musicians and dancers) will be in the second batch of these revamps, though as always, everything is subject to potential scheduling change.

Biggest thing the AFK macro has done is change the way entertainers are treated. There are many who have no respect for the entertainer profession. That is what drives people away from the profession. And on occassion when myself or fellow entertainers ask a patron to show respect to us or others we are called "whiners" or some other name.

Even when AFKtainers are gone there will still be that aspect of the problem to deal with. I will keep strumming my mandoviol until the day comes I am treated with respect by most (there will always be idiots out there).

I see you're on Kettemoor!

Heh...on Kettemoor, a few months back, the live players and the bots and their supporters had a major, major blowout. Lots of fighting, tears shed, etc. The bots were eventually driven out of the Coronet Cantina and took up residence in the hotel. It was a small victory for the live entertainers of Kettemoor because it seems like a lot of people have heard about the hotel, and all the bots and afk grinders are there last time I checked...more people than at the Cantina. I refuse to go to the hotel of course, so I don't really know the status of what's going on there anymore. But, there was a point where the bots and their supporters stuck an afk macro toon out front of the Cantina telling everyone to go to the hotel for buffs and healing, etc. Unfortunately, at that time it appears that most people followed the direction of the afk spammer. And, to this day, the Coronet Cantina is relatively dead compared to most servers' Coronet Cantinas. The majority of players, including the live ones are now in Theed. In fact, Theed is sometimes insanely packed as a direct result of the carnage that took place in Coronet. Although, one bright spot I saw is that last time I went to Coronet, I was able to find live buffersin the Cantinawho took care of my buffing needs (the weekend before Christmas). The fact of the matter is, before the big cantina war on Coronet, live buffers had absolutely no chance to make a living because of all the bots that had taken up residence.

When I went there a couple weeks ago for buffs and noticed how dead it was, but that there were live peeps in there, I was motivated to start trying to go to Coronet a little more often. I don't have a lot of time to play in the winter due to work. But, I'm going to do my part to add a little life back there.

I think it's a good example of what could happen when the bots are gone. That is, it's going to be a very slow process, we all know that. But, eventually the live people will return to take care of people, slowly but surely.

Without the AFK abilities this would be a non-issue. So it still goes right back to AFK killing the profession.

That is all nonsense folks that say buff bots are making folks stop being entertainers.. Maybe folks are stopping because it is a boring class. I mean how many times can u play star wars 2 or watch the same 6 bot effects. All eliminating buff bots will do is making player city cantinas an area decoration,

Blame it on the buff bots if you want but the bottom line is Entertainer Buffs take to long and are to big a hassle, folks can go out and buy brandy and other drinks cheep and most fighters I speak with now say they only use entertainers for fatigue reduction. I think they should combine the doctor and entertainer class merge them that is. As more folks figure out that brandy is a fast cheepbuff that doesn't take 30 mins out of their play time, entertainers will become less important. SWG needs to do something to make Entertainer more interesting.. Not just with more songs, or dances standing round just doing a dance or song gets pretty boring after a while. Folks tend to move to professions where they feel useful, or they can make money. Just my opinion

I think if those Entertainers who are not afk promote there cantina or theater at a player city as a place where they would be live that just maybe more player owned cantinas would be used. I like using the entertainer macros so i can spend more time talking and less time wondering which move to do next when i'm not in a band or dancing show group. But i have a feeling that these AFKer's are going to ruin the macro thing for us who do like to chat with customers and freinds while danceing.

If you believe so, then you apparently should not be a dancer or musician There are, however, many active forum members, as well as active ingame players, that absolutely love the profession and find itto bea great artistic, social, or emotional outlet. You, my friend, are obviously not among those numbers. Why do you judge poorlythose peoplethat are among thosewho enjoy the profession as it was intended to be played?
