Thread: Time for an attitude change Embrace the lost

A long time ago, in a galaxy not so far away, there was a division among the entertainment community. There were those that chose to entertain for the sake of the entertainment and those that made themselves a character solely to provide a service for would-be adventurers.

The powers that be have seen fit to remove the mechanic and need for this service, replacing it instead with a service that can be given by entertainers of any level, although the masters of course offer it at a faster rate than the novices.

Many of those service providers are crying out, despairing over the lack of usefulness for their professions. Now is the time for those of us who entertain for the sake of entertainment to step up. For too long have we been plagued by the stigmas that we are rude or stuck up because we chose not to become afk entertainers ourselves.

Instead of adopting a "good riddance" stance, why not embrace these lost entertainers? Show them why you are an entertainer, why you continue to entertain at the keyboard and what you find fun about it. Invite them to your events and welcome them when they choose to attend.

We have been accused of being elitist, exclusionary, snobbish, rude, stuck up, and all number of colorful terms. We know we are not like that, let us show the galaxy. Start a thread in your galaxy forum, invite the former AFK ents to become ATK ents. Who knows...they may learn to enjoy the profession too!

Your cause is noble, Dath. So, I am not going to poo poo the idea. I think it's great that people such as yourself are willing to "be the bigger person."

However, I have to admit that I'm a very fallible human being in real life. And, I can't let it pass.

From here on out, I promise that I will not go on the offensive towards anyone or bots on these forums. However, if one starts something and starts whining about not being able to destroy us anymore, then believe me, I'm going to be ripping them a new a$$hole.

I'm just not ready to do the forgiving thing yet. I probably will in a few weeks. But, I just can't mentally do it right now.

I feel the same exact way.

You guys know me, you know what I mean.

I don't mean bend over bakcwards and treat them like prodigal children to be coddled and doted on. I mean if they decide "hey, I wanna actually give this entertaining thing a shot" then don't brush em off just cause they were former bots. If they're just out to sing a "poor me" sob story or try to get attention, ok, that's a different case.

There will, I hope, be some who are genuinely interested in becoming atk ents. Its THOSE that I am focusing on. When they come to the forums and say "Hi, my name is ___ and I was a buff bot, help me enjoy entertaining," then welcome them.

Last night, I stopped by the Theed cantina and discovered to my amazement that there were only about 5 of us there. No more buffbots, no more spam. I could actually talk in spatial without my words vanishing from the screen 5 seconds after I said them.

It was very cool.

Anyone who can do this is either a better person than I am... or they are foolish.

As far as I'm concerned, I hope the door hits them really hard on their way out.... right on their 40 million credit leotarded backsides.

Sorry, but my 'give a damn' is busted.

I was in C'net on Starsider last night, and there was probably 10 entertainers there - including a well known bot who was STILL spamming her services. Other than her, the spam was gone. Best time I've had in the C'net cantina in over a year.

Well its highly obvious I support ATK players

Even without Bots there will be AFKers.

so we have to as community ,
show that being at the keys performing is still desirable and perferred.

I do have faith that more changes are yet to come for the game,
so sure take it as a step forward that bots are not serviced..
but take it as a stride ahead that you stayed the course as being ATK.

No matter what is done to change the game,
we the people who play provide it's true content.

I will always look forward to a show and hope to continue to see one live.

I cancelled 2 accounts.
Let SOE see their "no negative feedback" when I and many others like myself who are dissatisfied have cost them into the tens of thousands of dollars of income every month.

No negative feedback... lol...

While it is not my desire to leave SOE has left me no reason to stay.

Only $$$$$$$$$$ will make them listen.
