depends on what you want. DE takes less resource and makes much, much more cpu, but architects have higher demand on their products and have less bugs. I personally love DE and wouldn't switch over to architect for anything, but, its whatever you enjoy most.

Architects are in demand and have fewer bugs than we the DE profession, but they take somthing like 3 times the resources to master that we do.

DE's are bug ridden and have next to no real market. However we are getting a major revamp in January and February so I expect we'll actually get real customers... at least I hope so. It all boils down to if your in for short term gain or the long term.

If you do take DE, get Master Artisan first, last I heard, 41 of our products directly require M-Art parts.

Hmm...Maybe if I start now I can have master by the time the DE system is remade...IS there a list of the things that are going to be new/changed/deleted anywhere?

also, it will be practically impossible for you to make any money on your droids until you reach AT LEAST 0/3/0/4 so you can make advanced probots with maximum armor. At architect, you can make money when you start. Also DE requires a TON of grinding to advance to anything, architect doesn't because you use so many resources you get a nice XP for everything you make.

DE Pros:

Most star warsy profession

At master you can make good money on some servers, but overall you are damned to a poor existence. On kettemoor my grand total is 1.43 million credits, but thats declining fast, droid sales have dropped sharply since mounts, the CHs have all the money in the world(s) now.

Cons:

No market for droids besides the support professions, who get their money from the combat classes, you you have an entire class filtering the money you could be making.

BUGS! BUGS!! BUGS!!!

No communication from our dev in a long long long time, and his last post was a vague outsline of possible suggestions that might be installed sometime in the future, and he gave us no timeframe. The rest of the devs seem not to know our issues, even tho they are posted over and over and over and over and over and over again.

"IS there a list of the things that are going to be new/changed/deleted anywhere?"

No, there isn't. We have absolutely nothing to go by....in fact, the only reason we think there will be changes in January or Febuary is because that's the thing they've been feeding us, except they've been promising us changes for quite awhile now, and we haven't seen much of anything.

Are you the gambling sort? Because that's what we are right now. We're not a sure thing. If you were to make master next week, you would be highly disappointed. If you're like us, you'd keep the profession in blind hope that we'll get fixed, which some of us have been waiting since release (hence the bitterness).

So, if you're the type that wants to take a chance, and grind up DE (and yes, it *is* a grind. It's a worse grind than Architect actually), then maybe you'll be Master when these great changes happen and you can reap the rewards with the rest of us, right at the beginning.

However, if you want to go for a sure thing, go Architect. What you see is what you get, and there isn't much surprise as to what you'll have that's useful and selling. Most of the things there work as they are expected to, so unlike DEs, you won't have to be frustrated with schematics that are simply worthless or don't meet your expectations. Then, when these changes happen that we're all holding our breaths for, then you can begin investing in DE as well. If you really want to, there's no reason you can't go both routes.

Why you ask? Like allot here mentioned, we are a bug riddled profession. Architect you can make furniture, installations, housing, and experimentation works. Demand is higher for architect items then droids. I am holding on to Master DE till February patch. If I see no great change I will drop the profession and go another route.

Dession, ingoring all the downsers to you all ... DE is a superb profession even in its current borked state. We've (apparently) got some fixes coming to us in the december patch though.. and Junary onwards promises to be a profitable time for DE as we finaly get our developer back and will recieve some new droids/fixes such as combat-ready droids (who knows maybe even the Droideka). It will be an exciting time for a DE next month. If I was you, I'd go DE and not Architect.
