Just released today, news about the 2nd SWG Expansion. Among the various features is the addition of cybernetics. Now my question (as im sure many of you already have) is who will build these cybernetic parts? Droid Engineer is the best answer of coarse if they dont plan to make a totally new profession that does this (I hope not)
From IGN article:
"Fans of the films are aware that some of the characters have cybernetic body parts. Luke's hand and pretty much Darth Vader's entire body have been replaced with robotic versions. The ability to create and implant these cybernetic limbs will be included in the Rage of Wookiees expansion. Unlike the films, you won't need to have a Jedi slice off your limb in order to install a cybernetic replacement. To preserve the player's freedom of choice, the cybernetics aren't permanent; you can remove them at any time to regain your regular biological limb. Players can choose to replace one or both arms and both legs with cybernetic versions. We're not sure what specific abilities the new limbs will grant but we do know that you'll gain access to some cool combat bonuses by installing them."
Notice that it says: "create and implant"

I'm completely speculating here, butmyguess isthat the cybernetic parts will be DE crafted, maybe with some BE cooperation thrown in, with the installation falling in the Doctor profession.
BTW -
Here are some additional Screen shotsthat were posted onthe on the Bria Forum.

Okay, whether we get to build them or not, I'm thinking that's completely awesome. I would so do that! I think it would fit my character so well
Thanks for the info!

Seems they are targeting the same time as the movie = May. Also, TH posted that this expansion and the CU will come out (at least beta) at the same time. So this might be the first hard date we can say or expenct the CU to come out also.

According to the IGN article May, there's no official word on this though. I'm really looking forward to the asteroid mining myself.

According to the info on IGN.com, it is scheduled for release around the time that RotS is released. I'd guess mid to late May or the standard TH answer, soon (tm).

kinda stupid that you get your biological arm back upon removal of the robotic arm, anyone agree?

Yeah thats what went over my mind too but for the game it would be problematic if they were permanent.
I also dont want to see everyone looking like a droid either, lol.

maybe you can target and destroy the limbs???
I could see plenty of Monty Python 'Black Knight' sketches being acted out if so.
BLACK KNIGHT: 'Tis but a scratch.
ARTHUR: A scratch? Your arm's off!

Nah!, Just throw it in a ziplock bag with some ice and it should stay fresh.
Would be neat too is if they come out with differant versions, like a power arm, one for speed, and maybe one specifically for crafters! The last one could aid in minimizing crit-failures.
I am really excited about astroid mining. This could completely revitalize the space game and cause be to blow the dust off my old ship.
