Losing the resources in a crit fail, yes. But crit fails are still in the game in both assembly and experimentation, I believe. Not 100% on that though.
It's nice to see they've added this (a very commonly requested change).
DEs may well be involved in building these, since it makes a lot of sense. Perhaps BEs and IDs as well.../shrug
I just hope that Kashyyk will be buildable. I'd love to move my droid shop there.

If Kashyyyk (you forgot a Y there
) is a build zone, then I'm going to go 'out on a limb' (really bad double pun there) and guess that Architects will be getting some new schematics as well.

Im not entirely sure if that would be good. For one I really like the pristine planets like Endor and Yavin (I hate Dathomir its too gloomy but thats another story). If we have Kashyyyk buildable then we have even more urban sprawl across the galaxy unless the extra planet means that server capacity can increase. But for the lower populated servers it will just spread people out even more.
Having a treehouse would be really neat though.
Im all for giving architects new buildings though, we need more variety of houses!

From the wording of the announcement and article, I'm assuming they learned their lesson with planets and Kashyyyk will be the product of such. I think it's very telling that they are only adding one planet - with all the content promised for it (100+ missions, a new Imps vs. Wook mini-game) I'm assuming that instead of simply adding more space they are adding only enough space to fill the content they have. Remember, one of the chief complaints about SWG was that it had these big beautiful planets - with nothing on most of them. It's because of all this I am pretty sure it won't be buildable in a traditional sense - however, allowing certain players (like Wookies) to build a tree-house or something would be very cool and make the planet unique.
As to the cybernetics, as most of us have speculated before in threads about them it only makes sense for them to be a DE/BE/Doc combo product. I think that's a given. What isn't is how it will be done - to be honest, to be the most beneficial to all professions I hope DE"s make the mechanical parts, BE's make the bio-tissue/adhesive/what have you, and the Docs combine them themselves at the time of application. That would still give us and BE's the benefits of the new product, and give Docs an actual Doctor thing to do.
I'd also like to see other professions get in on it - maybe a power core-type thing from Architects, a "weapons-grade" mechanism for something-or-other from WS, maybe even some specialized drink/food from Chef's that helps ease the pain or reduces the chances of "rejection".
I'd really like to see this dynamic and worthy of an expansion feature. I hope it's not just a strap-er on and that's it. While it shouldn't be ridiculously difficult, they should need some maintainance and shouldn't last absolutely forever. I also hope they have variable stats - though nothing offical I have seen thus far has stated they will have skill and/or combat advantages aside from the assumption of the IGN editors, if they do they will definately need to require upkeep to maintain balance.
I'm not terribly excited about the overall Wookie-theme, I just don't find them terribly interesting as a species (even though I play one part-time). That said, the Kashyyyk content sounds really cool, and I'm also excited about cybernetics. I just hope Kashyyyk looks unique enough - the couple of screenshots out there looked like the difference between Naboo/Rori or Corellia/Talus only to Endor (similar graphics and colors, just darker/paler/etc). I really want to see something that takes my breath away.
I'm also excited on the time frame - this thing is scheduled to be ready in two months. As long as the price is right (they better charge less than the JTL box since it's a download and there is no printing/pressing/etc.) I don't mind paying for it. I just hope we don't move over to the pay-for-content model where we have to shell out cash every couple of months. Publish 14 was pretty disapointing - there really was nothing there, and it wasn't worthy of a whole Publish IMHO. It seems they are simply upping the number after a certain period of time instead of when something signifigant is done (it was basicly a bunch of bug-fixes left from Publish 13.1-on and the Pac-Man feature forced on us). I don't want to see the publishes reduced to bug fixes and having to pay for *every* new set of features.
Finally, I've been very surprised not to see more discussion around about SPACE MINING! How cool is THAT gonna be? Finally a reason to be in space that isn't about shooting at stuff. The new party boat/mining ship combo sounds heavenly - now if we could just dock with other ships and travel between MP ships while still in space, my dream of "living" up there will finally come true. I really think this will help make JTL more of a full experience than it is now - I rarely go up there these days and would love a reason to besides grinding XP (I'm 3/3/3/3 and have been for quite some time).

But like AO stated, I am really looking forward to the asteroid mining. I knew there was a reason I got Master Pilot! I hope we can outfit existing ships with mining equipment...I would love to go out in my YT with a friend or two and mine while fighting off Black Sun pests. And I hope there won't be unmanned asteroid harvesters...it would make harvesting asteroids like harvesting meat or bone...all by hand, and rare in large quantity.
