Thread: Droid Certs? NO! Make a Pet Skill Tree Never Seen before, something new.
I believe I saw something similar to this in a post, but it was not too detailed, I don't even know if this is what they were getting at. I think they were talking about getting better with your droid, so it works better, but that is enhancing your skills.
Why not create something never seen in SWG before? Create a Pet Skill Tree. I think it would be awesome.
So, a DE creates a basic droid with optional attachments. Then, it is sold. As the master uses it, the Droid has its own Skill Tree that it can enhance, from which the skills when it levels is chosen by the master. Say maybe speed upgrades on the weapons, AI upgrades, More Time per Baterry, etc... You could even make this better by adding the option to swap out Weapon Attachments. Say you start with a Droideka having standard Blasters on each arm. Well, after it gets to a certain level, or at certain points in its skill tree you can have a DE swap the weapons out for rifle attachments, automatic blasters, cannons, lasers, acid based weapons, rockets, etc.... Perhaps make these weapons vunerable to decay.
I think that would be just the peachiest thing.
It would be good if each type of droid had its own specific type weapons it could use. Maybe many of them are the same as other droids, but at least 1 or 2 that are specific to each model.
The good thing about this is it keeps a Droid Engineer in his profession. More than just selling the original Droid, as with vehicles, you have to upkeep it, progress it. Droids in Star Wars movies have Artificial Intelligence. They can not do something if they don't know how, so they have to learn it. That is my idea here. Allow them to learn and grow as an independent sentient entity.
The other GREAT thing about this? It offers something never seen before in SWG...and I think we can all agree that they need to add something new.
This might be a possibility.
Assuming you want the removal of the DH profession idea and Droid Certifications is a big combat imbalance, adding a Droid Tree to the DE profession might be an option. It would probably work more like a "sprinkling" of Droid/Pet possibilities throughout the profession though. Otherwise you get a lopsided skill advancement.
How do you guys feel about something like this?

Thunderheart, Anything but a DH class.... please. Options are out there, ideas have been made and said. Please, please make every effort to avert a DH profession!

Hey, if droid engineers get to use droids I'm pretty happy no matter how you paint the apple. Merge DH and and DE and make Master Artisan a prequisite, rather than an option.
Who paints apples anyway?
I definatly like it a LOT more than the DH idea. I like it alot. Nuff said.

Better, but I don't see how this is any different from what we originally wanted - DEs using all droids they can make.
It IS better TH
Way way better than a DH profession, which would just make me cry if I had to learn something else to use the droids i make
This does give option for everyone to use the droids though. But the catch is people must use their droids to make them powerful. So whether you are a Commando or Entertainer, you each get an equalled droid. It is up to You to take it outfor it tobecome a true warrior.

It depends on what kind of combat droids you're talking about. We haven't asked for, nor do we need, high-power combat droids. The number of people who have asked for CL 30 and above droids in the past is as small of a minority as the number of people who want a Droid Handler profession.
Basically, there's a lot more to this than you seem to understand. We don't want a Droid Handler profession, EVEN IF THAT PROFESSION IS US. Don't add a new Droid Handler profession, but don't turn us into one either.
Please stop focusing on combat droids. Where is the talk about new utility droids? We are crafters and the majority of us want to stay that way.
Jemm,
That was my point. Make droids available to everyone, yet not the most powerful to but those who actually go out and fight beside them.

Oh, so you mean the Droid gains combat experience, and can advance along its own skill tree and get more powerful (but a DE has to do the training/enhancing). Interesting idea.
