Thread: Potential problems with high combat droids and having multiple droids out.

If droidekas are implemented, and DEs are allowed to have multiple droids out at once, this could be a potential problem. We don't want DEs to be a combat class. Therefore there must be a limit on the type of droids that are out at once.

What's this "we" crud. And since when do you speak for all of us? I for one want at least a month of uberness like alot of classes had/are having. And if we could have 2 droideka's out at once, we'd see a lot more DE's appearing (think commandos and CH's) with that size of a player base, the class would get fixed a whole lot faster. Long term, things will all even out, so since I plan on playing for a while, I could stay a DE until all the others start switching to the new flavor of the week.

When droidekas appear the class will be fixed. The less DEs the better.

Again, you sound as if speaking for all DEs. I for one, am dreading the day that Droidekas get published. Can we say /tell hell from hell? Lets not forget to mention the possiblity of having to pump out all new factory parts, because suddenlythe 10 crates of ManipulatorArms Package that has aMechanical rating 5 just don't cut it, due to experimentation working. Or maybe having to track down a Weaponsmith or Armorsmithto get factory parts from themin order to build a new schematic and don't forget the possible cost of said parts. Then of course there could be the horrid possiblity that the key resource needed to build the Droideka isn't availible at the moment and hasn't been seen in your galaxy for weeks.

One last one to think about is how many orders you will be getting each day and how well could you keep up with said orders. I don't know about you, but most customers want that new gadget now, and if you can't keep up with your orders, then your customers will be more than likely to find a DE that can. More DEs on a sever equals a few less orders, which in turn equals less of a wait time for the customer, which leads to happier customers, which will lead to more sales, since the customer tells their friend on how quickly they could make the new droid for them........Gotta love rounded logic.

Read the boards.... more Posts FOR "Us" DEs having combat droids "WE" can use then posts saying we want to sit quietly in our aquariums pounding out droids for others to play with since we lack the "skills" to handlethemourselves.

drashk, im having a hard time figuring out if you're being sarcastic. either you're complaining about having to work and sell things (granted we arent used to this kinda thing as DEs) or you are a total fan of droideka.

if you are trying to complain about how wed have to work for our products, and work to keep the customers happy, then im really confused. i think its about time we got some business and a product that was worth the time and effort to make. the money isnt supposed to just pour in from nowhere.

but if youre being sarcastic, then disregard that whole thing.

personally i dont think droidekas the the solution to any long term problem, other than my bank account balance for a week (until the nerf), but im really hoping we do get them. just to see that the devs are actually working on our profession, and to give me something that i can actually sell.

Neocronus, I was actually being serious, but one thing that you aren't taking into account, is the server that I am on. Shadowfire is 'new' compared to all of the other servers but one. There is a total of about5-6confirmed Master DEs on,1 of which just hit the title today (Congrats Dremon...sorry I wasn't there to train you.) 2 others seem to only do custom orders, 1 I've never even seen, 1 took a vacation from the class and went to another server and then there is me. Not to be a braggard, but if a droid had a makers mark like a weapon or clothing had, most of the droids found on Tatooine would most-likely have my name plastered all over them. I make a pretty decent days wage for the droids that I offer and try to keep at least 5 of each module type in stock, with different packaging. My biggest seller is the Adv Probot with a crafters package that sells for 15k. I tend to sale about 10 of these, is not more, a day. I also get a lot, and I mean a lot, of return business and referals. So, for someone to say that there aren't any droid sales, hasn't applied to me as of yet. I was even able to salealmosthalf of theMSE that I ever made, while trying to work my way to BluePrints 3, since I was one of the first DEs on Tatooine and had a shop open in my first week of hitting DE.

I've worked my fingers to the bone to get up to this status, and not just in the grind. I have been told that a big reason that I get so much return business and referals is the fact that I will be completely honest with every aspect of the DE profession and often can be found spending hours of my time just explaining the ins and outs of droid use to my dedicated customers. I currently have 4 factories that grind out parts around the clock and a pretty nicely stocked vendor. When, droid experimentation is fixed, which I am 100% certain that it soon will be (see http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=droid_engineer&message.id=23318 for details of why I believe this), all of those parts will lose their usefulness, which is why I started concentrating on Master Artisan Parts instead. So, being that I work extrememly hard for what I get, having Droidekas suddenly thrust upon us, is it happens, I am going to end up getting swamped in orders.

And if you haven't noticed, the DEVs are working on our profession, or haven't you noticed that your droid now stays in the same spot that you left it when you log off......Again, see the above link, that I know will have to be cut and pasted.

I want to be able to use my droids in combat hardcore, so don't say "we" don't want DEs to be combat. I always pictured myself able to be the robot master on down the road.

We don't want DE's to be a combat profession? ... Ermm...

Do not include me in that "we" please.

Sure, I don't want the profession turned into some droid-handler thing, but I do want usefulness and it makes sense to make droid engineers have more droids then one out.

That's the part I don't understand. Why does itmake sense for Droid Engineers to have more than one droid out?

Drashk - i see where you're coming from now. i guess i just assumed that you were in the same boat as i.... the one where i make droids for maybe 1 sale a day. i have my factory running very little, as i have very little need for it. the droids i make will most likely sit on my vendor for a while.

i know it would be pretty hectic for you, if you are one of the only active DEs out there, if droidekas were released. however, if worse came to worse, you could have a waiting period like the architects do. want a droideka? get in line, buddy. if they really want it, theyll wait. if youre the only one who can make them, theyll wait. even if this isnt so, youll still have plenty of customer base if a few drop their orders.

i read your other post about the reasons for the stealth patches, and i must say it was very well written. good luck with the droid business, we all need it.
