Thread: Did we ever get a coherent answer re: Droid Armor?

I can't figure it out, and TH's "well, droid armor has always decayed" dribble was, as you know, unhelpful.

TK?

Anyone?

I can see why they'd do it though. Consistancy across systems (pets, droids, faction pets, mobs, etc...) makes it easy to maintain and impliment in new systems fo rthem and easier for the players to understand. This will help avoid situations like, well, having manufactured Probots since launch but not being aware that the droid's armor decayed like player worn armor and only finally understanding that 8 months later. Having droid armor work like pet resists makes sense in the context of the rest of the game. Also, they need to work the same so we no that a CL 10 droid and a CL 10 pet are effectively similar entities in terms of combat.

Also, to everyone who is upset that droids are loosing their medium armor and 20% of their resists, don't forget that current droids are being made combat capable but they aren't really the "combat droids" that some people are after. They can't give us droidekas like we saw in the movies because they would upset combat ballance, but if / when Droid Commanders are brought into the game, you're going to see droids that are better than what we have currently combat wise. They can be put in the game at that point because they can justify their presence with skill point usage. All that's happening now is that droids are being brought into line with current creature systems to pave the way for DCs if they come to be.

Oh, I understand that completely.

That doesn't make it not suck though.

Will the armour changes be retroactive? Will my pre-nerf and 820 also lose their armour ratings? If not, then TK, I'd like to put an order in for a new 820 Probot to be ready before patch-7

Yes, it will be retroactive.

Ditto.

I think that's my biggest issue with this right now, besides the fact that I don't want to dodge /tells all day about "Droid Invasion??? Where I get my Droideka? No, I don't want a PROBOT, I want a COMBAT DROID! You know, Droid Invasion? Didn't you see the launchpad, dumb DE?".

Not only is my old stock obsolete, I am pretty upset that I was a good little DE and did what the Devs recomended I do - and stock up on chassi and deeds - and I got bitten in the behind for it.

I learned my lesson - get me once, shame on you, get me twice, shame on me...

Yeah, I didn't mean that it doesn't suck either, my point was that it's the side effect of a transitional period for DEs and that there is probably a light at the end of this particular tunnel for us.

Incidentally, one thing that I haven't seen anyone mention is that a non-CH can only have like, what? 2 pets total? But everyone can have 5 droids, SO, if someone is working up the marksman tree or the LLC tree of BH, 7 tanks are better than, especially now that the camp requirements are being lifted. Is your probot starting to get worn down and you're inthe wilderness? No big deal any more, just store him, call the next one and 15 seconds later you're back in the parade.

Kinda makes me glad I'm currently a "dormant" DE, and have no backstock (save a handful of Seekers).

Completely agree on that one - and it's the main reason I don't see droid repair being a big market either.

Wow after reading this I am so glad I didn't have any Composite segments to make any prepatch Probots. I feel sorry for everybody that did.

So, are they going to increase our pre-patch probot HAM as they nerf us again? Or are we stuck with 820 HAM crates of probots with no armor that we won't be able to sell ?
