There seems to be plenty of people taking up the profession to replace the losses, but the trouble is that once youachieve master there is nothing really that exciting (or beneficial) to keep you there. Like Jelly, I have quit DE after sticking with it formany months.

I'd like to go back one day but not unless it gets more interesting as a profession - and that looks to bemonths away from where I sit.

I have a theory on the surge of new DE's lately. Either:

1. They're hologrinding or

2. They're grinding for the supposed Droid Invasion that isn't gonna happen. Remember, a lot of non-DE's still don't know that all these new Combat Droids aren't happening. I still get requests for Combat Droids just to tell them nope, not gonna happen anytime soon. Either they see DE as a money-making opportunity soon or they're looking to go for "Droid Handler". As we know neither is gonna happen in the near future.

I have been playing this game since launch, I had every intention of beinga Master DE, well now I have finally grinded my way there and the challenge of getting there was more fun than it is now. I maintain 2 characters on different servers, so most of my time is spent playing my Combat character on another server. Devs, throw us a bone and put some fun into being a DE. You give us probots that aren't worth a flip and then you make it worse by altering the graphics to look like something that came out of an 80's arcade game.

Exactly.

Had a guy just yesterday ask me all the usual questions about grinding DE.

When I asked him if he was a Holo grinder he replied 'No, I want to be ready for those cool new combat droids' or something to that effect.

When informed of the current change of plans, his plans quickly changed, as I suspect will the plans of all the fad DEs.

And hope the door does hit them in the arse.

Not to offend all of you guys but I've been reading these, "I Quit" posts in Tailor, DE, BE, etc etc. . .,

I don't understand the logic of announcing publically that you quit a profession. If this was proper, I'd hate to see the forums with hologrinders dropping all of the professions they master. . . "Hey guys, dropped DE, bye!" "Hey guys, dropped Chef, bye!"

I can understand if you post that you mastered the profession, since it's quite an accomplishment to others aswell, but why try to encourage others to disband their strong patience with the profession and its potential.

Don't mean to troll, but don't announce that you failed to realize potential. . .

It's a matter of telling folks you've known for MONTHS that you're making your farewells. We've got a rather tight-knit little community here, y'know.

Bwhahahahahahhahahahahahah... hahahahaha.. woohooooooo... hehe.. heh.. heh..

Are you saying that the root cause for these people quitting is because they didn't realize the "potential" of Droid Engineering?

I almost dropped MDE today. I had been hologrinding my 'silent' profession and reached a point where I would need to begin removing DE skills in order to master other profs. With everything that was going on, I had to think long and hard as to whether or not to drop it. I finally decided that eventhough there is nothing I want more than to play a Jedi, I am not going to drop this character's primary goals in life. So he ground all he could, hopefully that will be reflected in the release of the new quest based system, andI am sticking with my MDE that I have had since the release.

The problem is that the Droid Engineering profession hasn't even begun to show any potential...
