Hi everyone..

I just got done reading a few threads and it seems like no one here is excited about the new combat droid models that DE will be getting.... Is there something I'm missing? All that I've heard is that DE will be getting new Combat Droids, and there's a possibility of a new Droid Handler class to utilize them. Now, I'm totally opposed to the Droid Handler class, because what better class to handle droids than their creators? Would also be nice to have a Hybrid Artisan Class.

Please let me in on why most people seem so pesimistic about the DE class with the "Droid Invasion" publish hot on our heels.

I am guessing your not a Droid Engineer ? Or if you are, you just recently took it up so you could make Uber combat droids ?

There are NOT going to be any uber combat droids. No Droid Handler and no Droid Engineer super droid. We are getting new lvl 10 combat droids this patch and new utility droids the patch after next.

They don't know how to implement higher than lvl 10 combat droids into the game because a Droid Handler was a plain stupid creature handler rip off and Droid Engieers won't get a high level droid, because it would make us a crafting class with a leg up on the other crafting classes because we would have something to fight for us.

What is to be excited about?

We already have CL10 droids - and they are giving us more. Yay?

A CL10 droid is a CL10 droid even if you put a fancy new skin on it.

Gribnitz, I started my DE before I even heard about all this "droid invasion" stuff. I'm a casual gamer because I have too much things to do in RL to be playing forlong periods of time. Iwas just wondering what was going on with the class, there's no need for you to jump to conclusions, geez. Every time I post here it's like people just want to bite your arm off, no matter how simple the question : / I dont want an UBER new combat droid, I just wanted to know what the proposed changes were exactly.

Your right, sorry. A bit testy after all the garbage we have put up with (plus jerks tyring to explain why the cluster module exploitwasn't really an exploit doesn't help ). What I said above is the scoop though. Thats what we get anytime soon, which I won't complain about. I still want to see certs put into the game though.

I am!

Somewhat on topic...

I don't mission all that often, being a crafter, but one of last night's missions was a pretty standard small Rebel encampment; the ones I get always have a rebel medic as the high HAM NPC, with two lower HAM escorts. I got close enough to throw an area poison, and then gawped as the Rebel medic pulled out a blaster and headed for me, because, see, the medic was actually a SURGICAL DROID. I was all "Your brass a** is no match for me!" and he was all "Bring it on, blue b****!"

Anyway, it was just funny to see a droid pull out a blaster and roll my way, all angry and shooty-like. I hadn't see it before, since, as I said, I don't mission much. And the part where I was running away and wailing for my mother was also funny, for the surrounding onlookers.

I eventually took him down by stuffing him into a data storage module. *POOF*!

Back on topic, I know people are down on the CL10 combat droids, but as long as it adds some variety, I'll probably enjoy it. Then again, I'm incurably droid-happy.

well, to be honest

i would be more happy if they would remove this silly color fading on customised droids then the new?!?! cl10 droids.

actually we get new skins and same crappy probot i figure. even if why combat clones of the probot first? and another month hit the dust for utility stuff.

we just gave up the optimistc attitude DEs had long ago (me since beta btw) but some hopes are left tho, or i would have quit DE long ago.

BTW Devs, you made some nice additions at last patch, seriously good job, but i am dissapointed with the droid developer. not much progress. but hey the best implementation (color) got same sec going life ruined by fadinbgs lol. /bravo good job lol

please remove the silly 20 call color fades on droids or vehicles, thats at least anice feature we had, but noone uses it cause its simply not worth coloring and wasting resources for 20 calls aka 1 day playing /sigh

if you remove that it hurts nobody and add fun to this game at least.

Well, replace inherited combat capabilities by low level combat module isn't exactly add new combat droid.

It's just allow us to put useless combat capabilities into broken droid.

Nothing to be exited about.

And, I may be wrong, but what I understand of the big changes of publish 7 & 8 is :

Publish 7 : Level 1 & 2 combat module

Publish 8 : Leve 3,4,5 & 6 combat module.

New profession to use broken robot with broken combat module.

Concidering no one asked for combat droid in the first place, no, I'm not very Excited.

Well to be honest I am pretty excited, anything is better than nothing so i say =) Just some new chasis would be neat I think. What would be really considerate is giving us a heavy combat droid at MDE level that only we can control. Make it a level 20. It wouldn't unbalance ne thing and it gives us a big hunk of metal to roll around with while we hunt for resources. Lets face it gentelmen and ladies most of our points are spent mastering artisan and this one. Not a whole lot left after that, the least we can get is an effective and (deadly) droid. Anyhow take care and keep your chins up im sure we will be fixed and we will be the flavor of the month some time =) As for now I just like making droid batteries for my friends and a few medic droids =)

The combat droids will not be over CL10. We got one like that that can't be healed buy its owner. The DE publishes will be the next 2. AKA 7&8. Maybe they bring in new profession, maybe not <shrugs> But when these 2 patches are done, the Dev's will not be visiting the DE again till after the space expansion. I do hope though that part is wrong since they will have to fix the bugs the put into the droids but we will see. Not much to gfet excited about. I woulda got more excited if they tossed in a way to heal Probots doing fight like people can heal critters. THat woulda been a Weeeee from me.

Look at the history of promises made vs promises kept, that alone is reason to be skeptical. Plus, we're sure that it's going to be combat modules slapped into the existing droid chassis' so the only improvement will be the BLL with a little bit more HAM than the probot. Maybe if they made experimentation work I'd get slightly more interested.
