Vehicle crafter should be an all-together separate elite artisan profession.

Starships have required at least a droid to function. This is the perfect way to the DE to be more profitable.

ive seen the rumor about this, the one that gives the complete skill tree for de elite elite starship designer. the thing that bothers me is how the architects are complaining about being left out of starship construction. give me a break. architects got their elite elite announced already, and they want two by the time everyone else gets one? that sounds a little greedy to me. maybe the starship should use some standard architect parts, but i dont want to see the archs getting a second elite-elite untilother professionshave at least one. just trying to be fair. and its not like archs need the money or anything, while droid engineers are mostly starving.

IMO, speeder profession should come out of the Engineer tier just like DE, WS, AS and Architect.

Shipbuilder should be elite-elite from DE

My reasoning is this: Elite-Elite products will be very very expensive items, just like a player run city structure should be expensive and would need to be baught by the players living in the city (with city taxes).. ships would be that other thing that is expensive. Speeders on the other hand are much less expensive and more in line of something an elite profession makes.

I agree that Vehicle Engineers shouls be their own class.

As far as being profitable to DE's to be added in with us, that's what we have those wacky Rebels for. Ever notice how almost all of their ships need an astromech droid? That sounds like profit to me.

Hey yea I forgot about that! cool!

What I am afraid of is one thing tho: All of the X-wing and Tie Fighters MAY be faction pets sort of thing. If thats the case, that will really screw up ship builders. A solution would be: Ship builders can make X-wings and Tie fighters, but you would only be able to fly an X-wing if your a rebel and vice versa for Imps.

Jason Bergman: One question that came up a lot was about rider mounts and vehicle mounts. When.

Raph Koster: We had a prototype of mounts finished last week, actually. So we’re moving along, and I would probably guess that it’s going to be a month before players get to see it all, at least. We’ve got a lot of art to fix up and that sort of thing, but it’s coming along. Vehicles, we start on those after the mounts are fully finished. So that will probably take a little while longer. But the one we area able to proceed on in tandem is player cities, and tech design for that is about done, implementation is just starting.

JB: What class is going to be able to create vehicles?

RK: We’ll probably start out by putting in some simple, low level vehicles. We’re starting out with single-seat swoops. We’ve always said that. So we’ll probably end up putting those in just the basic engineering track. And looking to the future, to expand with the whole blown vehicle engineering someday. But since we’re starting with just the two or three different vehicles, we figured we’d just put them in an existing branch.

Hi all, this link has probably been made before, and it may seem very obvious to some but I'm going to post a speculation on how I see the vehical/starship production fitting into the DE profession. While perusing the player cities page I ran into this quote :

"Parks, hospitals, and even the city hall will all be available to the new Urban Planner profession. This is an 'elite-elite' profession only available to those few who have mastered the Architect profession. (More 'elite-elite' professions will become available in the future.)"

Seems to me the next logical leap for an Elite-Elite profession would be vehical/starship designer available to all those who have mastered the DE profession. What other artisan profession would come even close to having the qualifications of a DE? Plus, starships/vehicals are going to be in such high demand, and are such complex pieces of machinery that it would be only logical to have the designers be of the Elite-Elite caliber. Well, lemme know what you think, perhaps this is some incentive to make master, eventhough in all likelihood the vehicals won't be coming for a long long long time.....I know we have a ton of problems as is without speculating on the future of this unstable profession, but all in all I think it's worthy to discuss

They should start with speeders and swoop bikes, and work up to space vessels.

No, they owe us working droids, not spaceships. Them throwing out a distraction shouldn't fool us(if the rumors are true). Besides, just because we're closest thing that they would be able to link it to doesn't make us the best. The best and obvious solution is Vehicle Eng and then Starcraft Eng linked up off the Engineering line of Artisan. I want to be useful just as much as thenext DE, but that's just it, I want to be a useful DE.

What good is having an Elite-Elite profession for DE going to do without more skill points? Nearly all of us have taken on Master Artisan since so much of our 'basic' components require MA components. Sure, we could all master another profession...but at what expense? Our limited combat abilities (for those who took up Marksman or Brawler for survival) or our hobby abilities (for those who took up Medic, or as I did, Entertainer)?

It'd make no sense to give us a profession no one could ever Master without gating themselves (or having a good friend go Master Artisan).

maybe the best idea is for the DE elite elite tree to be the creators of ships, and the architects to be the decorators or outfitter for them. Ever think of that? i mean someone has to make those cusy grav chairs, and wookie sized controls.....right?
