Thread: R3 ADV vs Probot ADV. Here are the results:
I took a little time during lunch... there have been many many requests from droid-savey customers requesting R3s with 6 combat modules. These people know that the Probot can only get a total of 5 installed. On the outside, it would apear that the R3s are better combat droids. Here are the particulars:
The Combat modules I am making all have a rating of 110. When installed in the droid, wether they have been used to make 330 clusters, or are installed in the individual sockets (a probot can take one cluster (3) and two individuals for a total of 5)
The Probot Advancedhas a MAX HAM of 1100, which I have been able to attain. That is 100% experimented across the board. It has a 153-165 wallop, and a combat rating of 550 (with only 5 blasters, it should have been 500, but the nature of the droid apparently adds 50). It also has a .75 speed, and a .38 "to hit" with 40% armor, andno armor rating. Note: This is a pure combat droid. There is no room left for any utility modules.
The R3 has a MAX HAM of 1700, which I have been able to attain. 100% again. It has a hit of 123-143 which is inconsistient with the nuber of blasters. It has a combat rating of 600, which IS consitient with the number of blasters (combat rating is directly realted to the damage it can deal). The speed is 1.5 , and the "to hit" is .38. Note: This is a pure combat droid. There is no room left for any utility modules.
Now, lets compare the two side by side:
HAM WallopArmorSpeed To-Hit
Probot ADV 1100 ~160 40% .75 .38
R3 1700 ~130 40% 1.5 .38
Winner R3 ProbotTie Probot Tie
Based on this, there is no clear winner. So me and my good friend DelbertD (who has a great stock of the new lights on his Mos Onarok vendors) dueled them. Using the new repair kits, we were able to fight them over and over. We fought them a total of5 times. The end result? The R3 won 4-1. It was close each time, but the R3 Edged out the Probot. Perhaps because of its higher HAM. Keep in mind, these are the very best versions of each droid possible! They can't be made any better.
Also, and this is a shock, I am sure... After the so called crafting nerf is taken out, the quality will likely go down. As a Master with 12 experimentation points, I am able to consistiently hit 100% on most things. When the system reverts, I will be back to 95-99%. The point of the nerf was to spread the gap, and give meaning to being a master anything. So get out there and get the great guns while the WS can still make them! I'll try to produce as many droids as I can.
Watch for the results from various other combinations of droids. I might even see what'll happen if the probots has a med module instead of pure combat.
wonderfull
man we are really screwed, and this armor nerf is going to kill us.
j'vee I'm also on flurry and have three stores. I'm not logging in tonight, f-it.

It's likely the probot is restricted to the same 1.0 speed cap that PC's are.
If it was, then I would bet on the R3 unit because the DPS from the probot would not outweigh the HAM advantage of the R3.

That doesn't quite solve the problem.
Assuming 1.0 speed cap and ignoring the to-hit chance (since it is the same for both droids), the Probot's DPS is 160 while the R3's DPS is 87.
Probot will destroy R3 (1700 HAM) in 10.6 seconds.
R3 will destroy Probot (1100 HAM) in 12.6 seconds.
So the Probot should win that fight... but that's not what happened. Now granted the to-hit chance could have just favored the R3 significantly during the test, so it would require a few more to be certain, but it sure looks to me like there's something else going on here that we don't know about.
can you repeat your tests with a 100% LE Repair droid? For me it looks this one is now the "best" droid.
I wonder how a melee vs a ranged would do, which would be better there?
To get the highest HAM on the droids, is it necessary to use good fiberplast now? Will the good stuff finally make a difference or should we still use the grinding material? Which experimentation points should we use for higher HAM?
I am happy with this publish, my BH might actually have an advntage now, because I have refused pets the whole time and was not interested in the nerfed probots, so I am looking forward to sending my droid into battle!

I'm betting it's a display bug, too. Otherwise, what's the point of even having a combat rating?
The other possibility is that there's a different cap for certain droids. That would explain why a higher rating would yield a lower damage range. However, that would throw the tests back in to question, so I'm still betting on a display bug.
