Thread: FanFest Droid Report: We have a 'mole'...
I just wanted to let you know that one of my long-time DE buddies on Ahazi is getting some primo access to the Dev team during FanFest.
He's already promised to hammer them for any/all droid info (on either ground and/or Space) while at FanFest.
Oh yea, and...to sweeten the servo...
He is with a major gaming site.
Note: No, I will not reveal who it is...he can do that if he wishes. Suffice to say, I am 100% confident in his ability to press the Devs for some new droidy goodess!!
/bow
Respectfully,
Hope he took the thumb screws with him
Those Devs are hard nuts to crack sometimes.
Lookin forward to some inside info ![]()
So where's our daily Fan Fest report? I notice most of the other forums have one. Do we have any members "officially" in attendance?
What's going on out there?
Will astromechs be a part of the new spaceships, a la R2D2 in Luke's XWing?
Is our mole hitting them up for the since-Beta bugs, like Surgical droids with no storage, naming walking droids, more than one Droid called out for higher level DE's, more Droids in datapad?
I haven't gotten an update yet but I suspect that's cause he's all drun...errr...having fun. ![]()
I'll let you all know what he reports (if he doesn't post something himself...

Cinco Barnes specifically said (during the JTL demo) that Droids will be VITALLY important to spacefighters. He said your droid will help you survive, add tactical maneuverability, and there were part of the astrogation system... if I heard it all right. There were a number of people around us making a bit of noise so it was hard to get every word.

Enquiring minds want to knowwwwwwwwww!
In the demo they showed us the inside of the YT-1300 (Millenium Falcon type ship), this was in real time! The pilot was flying the ship and a second person was walking around inside it. In the "Lounge" area there was an astromech (either r2 or r3) that was fitting with the drink carrier that R2D2 had in RotJ. The repeated that the ship could be decorated, just like a house.
The space scenes looked INCREDIBLE and this is pre-beta.
In the advanced crafting forum (panel discussion) with the devs there were a lot of good ideas thrown around, and the devs were constantly writing down notes for bug fixes, general ideas, and other such things to check on when the get back to Austin.
The were very careful to be totally clear that everything we discussed was not set in stone, and that no matter how good the ideas were they still had to be prioritized. They have very full plates right now.
There was some solid discussion about increasing the quantity of items that factories put into crates.
The devs sited their reasons for keeping these limited, but said they were in favor of seeing what they could do to raise the number on crate items.
There is a lot of other stuff, but I am very tired, and I don't want to steal any scoops.
Night all!

"writing down notes about bug fixes" ???? All they have to do is read the forums and bug reports. It's not like it is new news.
I've heard that alot about the Dev forums.
Apparently Devs were scribbling down notes on things that have been submitted by correspondents and have been discussed on the board ad infinitum but they supposedly acted like they had never heard of such things before.

So there are two possibilities. One is that they don't read the boards. Two is that it was just for show. We know that number one is false.
