Thread: *low power* on DE boards

Wow. After the single most intense period of activity on this board since the game's inception, it seems we are now at a new low in energy. Posts have been laconic. Even the thread that announced the death of the droid handler idea has died.

I am bolstered by the news that the devs have heard our voices, but weary from the stress of exterting my own voice. Its more likely that I'll continue to play SWG now that I know the Droid Engineer class is going to get some fixes and new droids. It was pretty hopeless before.

I'm trying to focus on the cultural aspects of the game since being a DE continues to suck. That and a few friends are keeping me here for now.

We're all pretty much running on Empty, it seems...

Only some good news might inject some positive energy back into this board.

We'll see this afternoon.

The Droid Handler idea isn't dead. Go read the latest posts by Thunderheart. Also note that he says the plate is full on planned man power through 2004. If we don't get what they have ready now, we won't get anything at all for another year. We have the next two publishes to get our "love" and if it doesn't come now because we all moan and groan, we won't get a thing besides more bandaid fixes.

Out of the two choices, put combat droids in the DE tree or make a new profession for droids, I prefer the new profession. I may end up dabbling in it myself and if it is fun give up DE for good.

I think that says a lot about your position, but I agree that you're entitled to it.

I think we're all out of energy. We're all just waiting to hear what direction our professions future is headed. Right now it could swing either way.

It's only natural to have a lull after a full-on "discussion" marathon, we're all argued out, they've heard us, now we're recharging for the next round We'll just see how they use our ideas before we get all hyped up again...

That's my reason. I haven't posted in like 2 days or so (which is odd for me).

I'm just.................................burned out on Dev-speak, I guess.

This is the angle I am coming from. I have been resigned to whatever we get for a couple weeks now. Sure, I prefer some other sort of cert system where anyone can get a droid, but I just don't see it happening. We have been alloted this month and next for "love" and that appears to be it. If we don't take it now, we may end up with nothing because implementing a totally new design for the skill trees may just be too time consuming to do.With all our bitching and moaning we may only end up witha few new strap on lvl 10 droids, maybe and a new utility module or two that are easy to complete and thats our love for the next 12 months.

I _really_ hope they post today. Weekends are prime playing time, and if its time to change professions, sooner would be better than later.

That said. This has been an interesting journey.

and honestly, now that we are at the end of it, I wouldnt care if they added DC. Kinda funny. I look at it like this. when all is said and done, its all just numbers. whether you add a horizontal cert that spends 50 skill points or make a new profession that requires 50 skill points, its still 50 skill points. Everything else is just words. And honestly, im not hung up on words, so if adding a new profession is fast and easy, go for it. Especially if the droids honest to god are finished and sitting in some code vault.

In an ideal world they would work droids into the current professions, and add balance with otherdisadvantages instead of skill points. Especially at a time when they are changing the entire combat system. I still find it laughable they talk about game balance, yet I cant play PvP without getting one-shotted.

I dont think this DC furor would ever have been a furor, if TH hadnt said we wanted it. I think we would of rolled our eyes, **edit** a bit, and rolled over. It was that statement that was a rally cry, and what made this what it is.

But, our intense hatred of the idea has done 1 very important thing. It has opened the Dev's eyes to utility droids. Last week, they didnt even know what a utility droid was, now they think they could possibly add 5 or 6 of them maybe. That would double our capability!

We've been heard, and that in itself is a major accomplishment. What comes next, who can tell.

Not that I post anywhere near as much as others...but the initial "we're going to make DH" threads left me so ill that even the current optimism isn't enough to give any faith in the devs.

They put huge changes into the droid system based on a hunch. They have spent tons of man hours into those changes using graphic artists, scripters and likly some form of the programming team.

Now they realize that we don't like their idea, which is massivly funny/horrifying considering the current push to "improve the quality of communication".

Can we really expect them to click "undo" on all that work?

I think that's why so many are silent...we've been burned so many times in the past that any form of optimism is just foreign.

That is exactly where I am. I am sitting back patiantly waiting. But my patiance is running terribly thin these days. I hope that for a change, SOE will underpromise and overdeliver. But, trust me, I am not holding my breath.
