Thread: *low power* on DE boards

Soronume, I doubt there was much time spent on the art side. Almost all the combat droids are already in-game. All the basic logic (animation and behavioural) and art is there and has been since the game was first released. All they have to do is code up the command structures and whatever skillsets/trees were to be using the droids. That is why a DC profession was going to be so easy to implement for them yet everything else is going to be much harder and take much longer.

Really, what is there to talk about? TH said he has all our info, and it's time to present it to the devs, and "let the chips fall where they may...". Any new disscussions about our beloved profession will fall on deaf ears. From now on, we sit and wait (and grind professions while the holocron thing still works )

Tired, so tired... my Pleasur Droids have worn me out...

I think we're all sick of posting 's and 's and 's and 's and very sarcastic 's.

Yaww, the ball is at their side now. We've kicked it countless times.
We're lowwwww power.

And if we don't get some new batteries quick, many will quit
Let's hope there will be something positive next week.

New week, new month.

*goes to bed*

Sheesh - who is one-starring Sodan?

I might not always agree with him, but he is one of the true old timers - these boards are more vicious than PvP in the world that Thunderwhatever wants to make SWG into....

Sketh I'm getting sick of that crap too. Someone here is kidding around and it's not funny. They're one-starring everyone. I'm about to quit this forum because I don't want my ratings to go down. In a lot of forums I get good ratings, here I seem to get the uno a lot.

Someone needs to grow up out there.

It's only natural to have a lull after a full-on "discussion" marathon, we're all argued out, they've heard us, now we're recharging for the next round We'll just see how they use our ideas before we get all hyped up again...

HA!

I wouldn't call some of those posts in the ID thread "discussion"

I wouldn't say I'm low on power, I'm just slightly disallusioned

Before this one watershed "discussion" I was kind of proud of the apparent maturity and intelligence that most of the debates here in the DE forum exhibited.

The Droid Invasion ID thread quickly degenerated into the same type of bashing, whining, name calling, and screaming that I used to make fun of in other profession forums.

And I'll admit that I lost it a few times.

I guess this issue just brought that out in the DE community.

I guess we're finally showing our true colors.........

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

Much the same here. And I have the extra (and quite depressing) strike against me of recalling how the SOE (then Verant) devs and community reps dealt with similar situations arising in EverQuest way back in '99 and '00, and all that has happened over the past month has been like Deja Vu and has left me reasonably numb with little to no desire to say much of anything more on the topic.

We've said our piece. They've heard as much of our desires and hopes as they're going to ever hear. TH has relayed it as clearly as he was ever going to understand it. The devs are going to do what they are going to do. While I want to believe SOE has learned at least SOME lessons from their EQ experiences, they've not shown it very well. To expect lots of great things from this first pass (consisting of next one or two publishes) is probably not a very good idea. I would be happy if they just get the bug fixes right.

The solace I can provide tothe rest of my colleaguesis that they do eventually get it right over time. Four years later, EQ is a very playable and functional game. Most of the whining now is of the "They're better than us" variety--they've fixed pretty much all the really and moderately dumb things. I am reasonably sure that it will not take them quite as long to get SWG (and DEs in particular) whipped into shape. It's all a matter of time.

They put huge changes into the droid system based on a hunch. They have spent tons of man hours into those changes using graphic artists, scripters and likly some form of the programming team.

Actually, it wasn't so much of a hunch - don't give them THAT much credit.

They heard people (DE and customers) repeatedly say they wanted combat droids, so they figured the current combat changes made the issue ripe for implementation.

And a seperate profession, full or mini, was one of the ideas floated right here in the DE forum a long, long time ago.

Most of the ideas here in this forum fell into one of those 3 three solutions they listed.

And at that timea seperate professionactually had quite a bit of support from the people participating in this forum.

The Devs have shown their metal over and over... Its in the range of -900 on all stats if you want to use their resources scales.I think I'll just stick around until the end just because I am hard headed.. which seems to be a nice quality for a MDE

Hehe, good analogy (sp)

long hard fight.. for nothing- but hey, whats different... I never expected them to fix out profession anyway all other professions are more important to them... thats why they have gotten love or total rebuilds and we are left with empty promises and lies- **edit** I feel like a hubby that has been cheated on
