Droid Engineer Archive

What are the rules? No spaces, dashes, commas, numbers? What are they? I'm having trouble. I see people with advertising droids and was wondering what the naming restrictions were. Thanks in advance.

first and silliest rule for droid namings is NO numbers like 3 5 8 whatever, well it SHOULD be most cummon naming like R4-C7 or such, but u cant do that. u can use signs like - but u cant use numbers, also some droid models u cant name at all /sigh

devs have to do alot work for making DE better, but the put more power in nerfs sadly. /sigh again

but the some droids u can name, u can choose whatever like with other pets also, just no numbers in the name or spaces.

Hey folks, I'm an aspiring droid engineer. I'm trying to figure out how to name a droid for some customers, but it has no program menu! It has a conversation menu like troops do!

I've tried the standard way to teach it a few commands with it's name in front, that dosn't work. The droid is an LE repair droid, is there something special about biped droids or am I doing something wrong?

Biped droids aka conversation droids can not be renamed. Not as far as any has fiqured out het. Only the non-two legged ones can be renamed.

I must say that's kind of crappy, heh. Oh well. Thanks anyways guys!

Didn't this happen in the great droid schematic rework where they took the personality chips out of astromechs? I can't really remember because at the timeI was just makin' mice and DZ70s.

Is it possible to name a surgical droid or any of the humanoid droids?

My understanding is you can name any droid. You have to teach it its name just like a pet. <Name> <command> It will take about 5 - 6 commands using the <name> <command> for it to learn it.

For example:

Program -> Store

"BillyBob Store"

Program -> Group

"BillyBob Group"

etc etc.

No.

Droids that "converse" with you via the radial menu cannot currently be named, so no you can't name a Surgical Droid (or a Protocol Droid, or an LE Repair Droid).

I was just thinking about that.

I can't honestly say if it happened on the exact patch or not, but if not it was at very close to the same time, I think.
