How about droids available to master vendors or somesuch for delivering items to players rather than them having to go to the store ? Such
a droid could have limited storage space for items and turn up and hover for a bit allowing the player to trade the items as with a player.
Just a thought, I think it would be cool.

With JTL and the new shuttle wait times i realy dont see the hassle in delivering items yourself.
And adding those droids would probably be alot of work and time, time the DEV's can use on fixing other more important things.

I'm sure it's been suggested before (wouldn't know- 'too many searches in progress'). I'd like to see the capability put in for a droid to deliver items/data to a player. It's pretty simple: you tell the droid to /deliver playername, droid disappears, shows up at playername's location in x minutes, playername is then allowed access to the droid's item/data storage.
As a sidenote, it'd be nice to see a storage increase for droids.. say, at least 1 backpack's worth (50 items). Maybe 10 items per module.

What about intergalaxy deliveries between other galaxies. say i want my alt to deliver me a Han Solo wanted posters form another galaxy and then pay a fee for the delivery. also woild it work between planets as well.
I agree need more space

Actually... I had that very idea, but as something smugglers could do. Think about it... cross-galaxy smuggling - for a price. Would give smugglers an extremely valuable ability. Likely couldn't be implemented though, for technical reasons.

Likely will not be implemented for balance reasons.
The different galaxies have different ages, different playerbases, had much different ressource-spawns in the years, etc.
Would you allow that inter-galaxy trade, quite likely a few of the older galaxies would start selling top-grade gear to other galaxies. Even the oldest crafters in those galaxies could have problems to compete... while credits gravitating to the few selected galaxies. (Just take a look at the history of www.swgcraft.com and you'll find that some servers have a noticeable ressource-lag...)
From a technical point of view... the design of database is the same, no matter which galaxy. Such a transfer would require some effort, but is far from impossible to do, i guess. (Nope, i am not working at SOE, but i administer a few databases, so i have a bit of experience with that...)
And to the topic (delivery droids) itself: the idea sounds good. I personally would say, don't go for the storage compartment of the droid, which the customer can access, but rather make it a "running vendor" which only the customer can access. That way the security of trade is maintained, the droid delivers, but only when the demanded money is paid.

yeah, and then we have annoying people just sitting in their houses shooting vendors across the galaxy at random players trying to get them to buy stuff.

Opps... hmm, didn't think of that. No good. Would a "go to planet/coordinate" work better? Sure, you could then send it to coronet starport to stand around there, but guess it'd be mostly ignored... otherwhise, to annoy people, you'd have to know where they are...

hehehe... maybe you could have the droid "self destruct" ala Mission Impossible style!
A message is delivered... and then the droid says..."This message will self destruct in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1" It will do minimal damage (1 point) but the droid would be useless after that (UNLESS you also put a detonation module in it... tehee)

This is a weak argument for not doing it. Given that a.) you can only have so many droids on your datapad b.) a delivery droid would take x minutes to complete its task c.) it could be made so that only one could be sent out at a time, it wouldn't make much sense to use as a sales tactic. Anyway, I didn't even suggest a vendor droid, but a delivery droid. Of course the targetted player would have the option of dismissing the droid, and should in fact, for when they are finished with it.

I like the idea of delivery droids, however I dont think they should be disposable. NO one will really want to buy them, b/c they are disposable. I think what it should be is, you pull up the radial menu, and then click on customer and add their name. This way you the owner of the droid and the customer have "admin" access to the droid. Then you select either a waypoint for the droid to goto. This could be as simple as a house, or a open field (ie a fellow guild member needs a new gun, or more grenades), Then you tell the droid to make his run, x amount of time later he is there, and then he shows up @ the desired location. The buyer gets what he needs from the droid, and deposits the prescribed amount of money, and done. The droid then come back, and send you a msg stating that he had completed his task. x amount of time later he has arrived back @ the prescribed return waypoint.
Just my .02, but I think that a idea for a delivery droid is outstanding
