Thread: What droid handler class will do to DEs

It will utterly ruin the profession, knocking it back to its beginings. After being completely ignored, I know that it's doubtful that I will keep up DE. I'm sure a lot will feel the same way. There goes all the knowledgable DEs and now you're left with new ones who make an adv surgical with a slang personality chip, repair module and storage. *sigh* Maybe I'll just finish up my factory runs and drop it all together.

Dont drop until we know exactly what theyre going to do.

But myself, I would drop DE if this new profession came into being. The DH profession would only seem to benefit those DEs who are in this overly for profit. I love droids and I became a DE because I wanted to make and use any droid I wanted, and this DH profession totally destroys that.

Help me understand why DH will ruin DE, I see a lot of people strongly opposed to it but dont see much reasoning behind it. You can still make all the same droids you make now for all of the non DH's so you will still have the same amount of sales as before only with the DH treeyou will have new combat droidsto make for the DHers. How does that make DE worse?

Think of it this way as well, can a weaponsmith use a flamethrower? LLC? Scatter Pistol? Launcher pistol? Etc... NO he cant!

Yes he can. Anyone can use ANY weapon they want in the game. Even without the cert for it.

Tell you what. Mount that flame thrower on an advanced droid frame unit, mix in a probot chassis, then add one maybe two ADVANCED DROID BRAINS, plus a maipulator arm package set, then lets talk.

And, BTW, I can't confirm this but I think the correct answer is that he CAN use it, but at a very poor skill level (I could be wrong on this since I cannot confirm, but others here can).

Next thing you know after they start to focus on chefs, TH will come up and say

I for one want to make Droidtekas.

I played the game back when everyone could have a gurreck, and it wasn't a hole lot of fun knowing that nothing could touch you and anything was killable. It's either going to be cl10 droid that everyone can use, or something useful that you have to spend skill points to use.

Pesronaly, I took upDE in the hopes that it would get the love thatBE did...

You know I like for everybody to state their opinions. But given how crucial a time this is for the DE community, I really would have appreciated it if you had educated yourself on both sides of the issue BEFORE going completely against what everybody else is striving for.

Its not too late to change your vote on the poll. Just reply to yourself and say NO to the DH class.

We want droids everyone can use, not big uber-powerfull superpets or anything, just something as an alternative to the probot. Higher level combat droid certifications should be given to the elite combat classes..blah...blah...blah... It's been said a million times on this forum. We want usefull droids that anyone can use, that is starwars, droids should not be looked at the same as ch pets. In my opinion it makes the whole game worse rather than just the DE profession.

Hmm.. ok but how effective are they if you dont have a cert? I tried using a launcher pistol once and I unloaded about 50 shots on a creature and barely scratched it. It was like shooting a water pistol in its eye.

Keep in mind Im not trying to start an argument just a discussion, I personally am for the DH profession and some people seem to get really defensive and heated towards me when Im just trying to understand why everyone is so against it.

It's not going to ruin the profession at all... in fact, it's just going to give us new and cool products to make and sell. Granted, those products will have a potentially limited audience, but that doesn't seem to hurt Bio Engineers.

I'll be sticking with the profession - it's going to be fun supplying people with the new droids and teaching them how they work. That's what I got into the profession for in the first place - making droids and helping people use them.

Besides, if you really want to do both, you can. Depending on the pre-requisites for Droid Handler, you can probably drop Master Artisan and have plenty of room for MDE and MDH. After all, if you're in this to USE your droids instead of SELL them, you don't need Merchant, right? And if you're spending all that time using them, you're going to be limited on time for making them anyway, right? So just buy the schematics for any Master Artisan parts you need from someone else and only sell droids face-to-face.

Engineering 4 + MDE + MDH is only 155 points assuming that DH is based on E4 like DE... and that leaves you with 95 to use for whatever else you want to be able to do.
