Thread: What droid handler class will do to DEs

Keep in mind Im not trying to start an argument just a discussion, I personally am for the DH profession and some people seem to get really defensive and heated towards me when Im just trying to understand why everyone is so against it.
The veteran DEs have discussed this issue to death. We all seem to want to make droids that ALL players can use. Not just Droid Handlers, not just DEs.............everyone.
The only way to provide more/better combat droids and have our profession flourish is to have certifications (similiar to those that are available for weapons).
This is an issue that's been worked over and over and over. The best and most knowledgable DEs that the game has (from ALL servers) have collectively surmised that this solution (and not creation of a DH profession) is likely the best overall solution.....both for us and for our clients.

How can you have a combat class based off a crafting profession? Second in order to be a DE you need MA. No ifs, buts or maybes. I go through about 3k MA components a week. That's up to 5k when I decide to do BH droids.
Basically what TH has done is said "**edit** YOU DES".
His argument is completely flawed when comparing creatures to droids. Droids do what they're programed to. Creatures don't. You don't need skill to use a droid. Do you need skill to wipe your ass?

We want droids everyone can use, not big uber-powerfull superpets or anything, just something as an alternative to the probot. Higher level combat droid certifications should be given to the elite combat classes..blah...blah...blah... It's been said a million times on this forum. We want usefull droids that anyone can use, that is starwars, droids should not be looked at the same as ch pets. In my opinion it makes the whole game worse rather than just the DE profession.
We already have droids that everyone can use, ok beef up the probot a little for everyone else fine. Remember what happened when almost all of the creatures were usable by almost everyone in the game? Looked like a freakin zoo out there, since they jacked up the creature levels you see a lot less GSP's and rancors now, I thought that was a game saving move by the devs.
Now you want that to happen again only with droids instead of creatures, why not make them only available to a select profession? I agree that some kind of cert system would work as well but who would get the certs?
Well there is some talk of a MDE only droid.

Bah! That was just a trifle. I'd be happy to see some of those little Watto 'helper' droids for MDEs.
Oh well...I'm gonna stay on topic today.
We, in the know, need to help the non-DEs understand the issue quickly and logically.

In the star wars universe, droids are just as commonplace as people. There should be a lot more droids roaming around in player cities. Droids should be the foundation for this game. Instead it's weapons. Of all the professions, WS is needed the most, followed by Arch, tehn AS, Chef and Tailor. DEs are NOT needed. Not one bit.

I AM part of the DE community although your right Im not a veteran, doesnt mean I cant have an opinion and have to jump on the bandwagon. Also I dont want to get blacklisted are ostrasized just because Im going against the majority. Believe me I want DE fixed and want combat droids as much as everyone else I just dont agree that everyone should have them.

In order to have more droids around doesnt mean you have to give them to everyone, dont you think a whole bunch of people would pick up DH if it was implemented? That would be plently of droids roaming around, but not so much that they clutter up our cities
