1.) Caffine!!!!
2.) No one else seems to want to do it
3.) R2-D2 was the real star in Star Wars, and everyone expects to see droids in SWG. So I aim to please!
4.) Its a tough, challanging proffesion that requires a lot of time and understanding, therefore see #2
5.) One day we will be the central crafting profession with the most versitility, and I want to help that day become a reallity.

Here is the synical list.
1. If anyone **edit** about their profession, you can trump them.
2. I really like making GP and Memory Modules
3. BLL's are too useful not to be a master DE!
4. DE's can make as much money selling their wares as furnature as they do as a acutal droid.
5. It helps my carpul tunnel.
Seriously, give it a try, make your first mouse droid and see if that gives you the reward you're looking for. You should be able to tell then and there if you'll stick with it.

I cant give you one.
I wanted to Master it, I thought it would be fun and rewardning....
the grinding adv droid frames sucked.
Mastered it..
not being able to sell stuff for a real profit.. sucks..
been it for a few months now, no one orders droids, and when they do they then scoff at the price..
I keep regular check of my compitition and Im cheaper.. spoke to a few on my server, all are struggling..
Droids are not cheap to make...
Look, if you like mindless grinding.. be a DE.. if you want to play for profit.. forget it.
Besides Combat is much more fun.
But to each there own.

bah, guess someone has to give you a real list...
1. The profession is complicated as hell. While for some this may not be a good thing, I love figuring things out and solving problems.
2. Diversity. DE is one of the only professions where you sell more than 1 or 2 different products.... AS's have composite armor... sometimes ubese. Even those professions that have quite a few (I know chefs sell a good number of different products) they're still all cookie cutter. A droid you can make custom, with each one being different.
3. Resources. Resources aren't nearly as bad as most of the other crafting profession. There aren't a whole lot of unique resources needed regularly (definately not in large quantity) and a lot of the bulk resources you need don't matter on quality. This makes it much easier to keep stuff in stock
4. Lack of other DE's. as a WS or AS or one of the other crafting professions you tend to just become another one of them, but with DE you can really stick out and become a well known crafter.
5. The final and most important reason, they're droids. Star wars is a story about two droids, don't let anything else in the movies fool you. Droids are what make a lot of people so interested in star wars. Anyone can go out and buy a gun, shoot some crap, and never even think twice about it. On the other hand, people really love their droids. Many of my customers keep droids around long after they've dropped whatever professions the droid was made for, simply because they like him. The emails and /tells I get from my customers letting me know they're loving the droid and its working out great for them would keep me going even without the rest of this list.

Bob, we just had 2 Tolium spawns back to back in the last month.
Well, I can't really give a list of 5, but here is what I like.
I like that I have many options with my droids, I can put whatever modules in it that I want, and paint it how I want.
I like the challenge of trying to make perfect droids.
I like the fact that there are not 100 other DE's on the server, were sort of rare.
Just don't expect to get rich from it.

1. I get to know my customers. If someone buys a rifle off a vendor the WS just is happy for the credits. But I fill custome orders and I talk to them about the droid they want and what they want it to do.
2. Rareity. Put up a DE tag and see people ask for all sorts of droids or ask questions about driods.
3. It sounds funny but I think the droids have a presonality. Bob the DZ-70 would run from a womp rat while Oni my Probot would hover over my incaped form and defend me.
4. A well crafted Droid will get you noticed a razor cat wont.
5. When I do a "test" batch of new droids using different resourses I will often give em' away for free. You really should see people light up when they are given the gift of droids.

Good points everyone. Im thinking of going DE because it would be something different from the other crafting professions. Also I can see DEs getting a lot more business when Jump To Lightspeed comes out.

2. You can make yuor very own C3-PO Unit
3. You can make Probot Combat Droids
4. Yuo can then use your very own combat droids to kill everythign in site, whilst using your Droid Repair Kits to keep it alive
5. You can make Boom Boom Droids, and watch Bounty Hunters terrify Jedi!
5a. You can make Mouse Droids, call them BoomBoom, and then program them to follow a Jedi with the command "Detonate" and watch the Jedi run away! Very funny!

1. This game is about StarWars. StarWars is the story of 2 droids and some other human characters.
2. Mandalorian Helmet.
3. Interaction with players, if you like spend hours explaining things, it's the profession for you.
4. You can close the mouth of any crafter that complain about his profession.
5. You can explain to all the people that want a revamp of their professions that is will probably not be what they expect and that hope is not always a good thing.
6. By become a DE, you can be pretty sure you will never have to, and probably even never need to use a droid.
I honestly tried to find 5 positive answer to that.
And was not able to.
Sorry.
