I know this have probably already been suggested but here goes. I would like to see an ability granted at Master DE to be able to call 2 droids at once. I know there are alot of potentially unbalacing issues about this, but I have some restrictions on it. All these restrictions would apply to the second droid being called.
- Cannot have a combat module installed
- Cannot have a detonation module installed
- Cannot be a Probot (since it has an inherent combat module)
- Cannot be a DZ70 (same reason as Probot)
- Owner entering combat will autostore the second droid
I know Ihave my repair droid (adv power droid with repair module), and it would be nice to use it on other droids of mine. Plus I use a barker droid (adv 3P0 with barker and item storage), and it would be nice to call my crafting droid while the barker droid is still running. I know there was an idea of a Droid Handler profession at one time, but the limitation here should prevent exploiting and overpowering. Is this a viable option, or am I not thinking about some things?

Cuoure,
I really think that they are trying to push for grouping vs. solo. Allowing us to call multiple droids would push for more solo players... even with the changes you are suggesting.
It would be nice to have the ability to call multiple droids. However, I do not forsee them doing this anytime soon. They are going to try to correct things with the "Droid Commander" class. Just hate to admit it.
Plus I do not want to see this ability because more ppl will want to grind DE to get that ability. And I am perfectly content with the amount of DEs on our server. Unlike the other crafting classes, I think there is a perfect balance of us running around. (Armorsmiths, Weaponsmiths, etc. are a dime a dozen imo)

I see your points, and can kinda agree. The thing is the original post called for master DEs to call 2 droids at one time. I don't think many people are willing to give up that many points to be a master DE. They are better going master CH in that case. I like the idea of having my MDE being able to call out 2 droids. There are many times going from factory to vendor that I'd like to have 2 droids out just to help load up the gear. Plus while I craft on the movie, I keep components in my droids. Yeah, I can see what you mean about making your own solo group with droids, but MCH would be the best way to do that.
Just my thoughts.

This was the topic of one of the DE "19 Questions" thingies some time back. The answer basically was that the Devs concerned 2 droid calling (for MDEs) to be something that was possible and could be on the plate for the future.
Now, I think the caveat here would be that it would never be 2 combat droids but like a crafting droid and a repair/power droid, etc.

I see your point. I would love to have 2 droids. And you are right, there might be one or two who will take up the DE profession just for that ability, but CH is just a more viable profession in that case. I would be all for calling a second droid out of combat.
I am just concerned that our profession doesn't become a swiss cheese profession. You can do this, but not this, this, this, this, this, but you CAN do that. It looks like if this is implemented, all this will generate is a LOT of questions from customers/inquirers and it will take a long time to explain such a simple process.

I agree that this is a good idea, but only if strict limitations on the types of droids were put in. The problem is you need to consider such a wide range of variables.
Such as, I could then have a MDE / Doc buffbot that actually recharges it's own droids in it's macro. This would mean that now customers would not need to have their own power droids, lowering sales. Just one small out of the way thing that would be affected.

That can already be done with 2 peoples' alts working together.

Respectfully,
His point was that it removed the second person from the picture, making it a much more attractive option.

Yea...I think the way to deal would be to make it so a power droid got deactivated if the owner's AFK tag ticked on....

Exactly, you wouldn't need to have a second account to do it. Plus evne if you did have multiple accounts, you could play one while the other buffed. So then people would start doing it. Then once one person started doing it, it would snowball, because that persons buffs always being at full power would give a business edge. Eventually most of your Doc buff bots would be DE's as well.
Then we have a more complex problem. We now may have 2 or 3 times as many DE's on the server as we had before. However, these DE's don't really care about Droids at all. They simply did it because it made "good business sense." Many (wont say all,) may not have any interest in really making droids at all. However, they probably wouldn't be adverse to hitting some Markets like Probes or Seekers. Quite probably vastly undercutting normal prices. This would just be "bonus money," to them on top of their Doc money.
I'm not down on the idea, I'm just showing how something that actually looks so outstanding to DE's could actually hurt us badly.

I personally love just selling Seeker and Arakyd droids. I usually do not sell anything else unless someone specifically requests it. It will not make me a huge amount of money, but I still like it just as well. I would like to sell them for more, than I currently do, but I am afraid of those people undercutting me. If we have people who start selling droids just for the cash instead of because they like being a Droid Engineer, than things will just get out of hand and we will become just like everyother profession. I have only seen about a dozen DEs on my galaxy (Sunrunner) these last few weeks. And I like it that way.
Now if only we can get a good spawn of Tollium Gas on our Galaxy again, I would be in heaven!

Is that sarcasm or do you really like being only one of a rare few who bother themselves with this profession?
