Thread: Multiple Crafting Stations Work!
I posted this under Garantoth's bug thread as well, but I thought this waranted a thread of its own,
I have tested and confirmed that the following scenarios work:
2 droids, each with a crafting station built in, in close proximity: Both Crafting Stations Still Work
1 droid with a crafting station built in, in close proximity to a private crafting station: Both Crafting Stations Work
1 droid built with 2 different types of crafting stations : Both Crafting stations work!
Can anyone else confirm this? Have I just been in the dark and we knew it was fixed and noone told me? If noone knew about this fix, I think it's kind of funny that the devs are being sneaky with bug fixes.

I don't know what crafting stations your using by try it with none of them being weapon/droid stations. those have been acting weird lately if you haven't noticed, and I know I've been able to experiment on my meds with one since this has been happening.

I'm thinking this is an unintended "side effect" from crafting tools being bugged. My WDG crafting tools have allthe tabs (ie:I can craft food and armor withthem) and I'vehad some strange occurances with my WDG crafting tool, where a few times I've gotten 10 experiment points, where usually I only have one. As for there being no announcement that it was fixed, I have doubts that it actually was fixed, and is probably a bug.
Oh, and the glass is half empty. ![]()
I will do some more tests tonight when I get home from work, but knowing which ones you've gotten to work will help.
this is actually bad news to me.
So, people will only buy the advanced probot with the 4 crafting stations, 110 med rating, 10 item storage and repair module. We'll dig our own grave here.
For the Droid-Droid test, One droid had a Weapon Station and the other had a Clothing Station
For the Droid-Station test, The droid had a weapon Station and the Station was a Weapon Droid Station
For the single droid test, the Droid was a WED Treadwell built with a Chem Station and a Weapon Station
All of these scenarios worked.
As far is thinking it's a bug that the Weapon Droid Crafting Tool is showing all tools, I do not beleive that to be so. In the other tabs are items that appear in teh Generic Crafting Tool, and to me, that means they classify as Generic Items. You are not able to build clothing, for instance, that requires a CLothing Tool, but you are able to build clothing that requires a generic tool. This doesn't strike me as a bug, but that it was intentional.

First, with the current behavior of crafting tools, it's entirely possible that this isa side-effect behavior that will disappear again. Time will tell.
Second, I won't MAKE an advanced probot with socket clusters. I have finally made my decision that doing so is an exploit. If I am asked about advanced probots, my limit is two modules, period.
(WARNING: SEVERE NERD ANALYSIS BELOW! YOU WERE WARNED)
Keep in mind that the Weapon/Droid/General (WDG) crafting station module (CSM) takes precedence over all other CSMs installed. I proved this empirically. At the time of the test, I knew that regardless of how many CSMs were installed, only one would work. So the question was: if two or more were installed, which one would work and which would not. Note that I performed this test before the WDG tool became bugged/weird (that it could access all tabs instead of the ones it was intended for).
With the help of some friends who all were well into their professions, I built the following droids. Note: all droids were MSE Advanced droids to facilitate quickness of building/testing.
1) Droid with WDG/FC (Food & Chem)
2) Droid with WDG/CA (Clothing & Armor)
3) Droid with WDG/SF (Structure& Furniture)
4) Droid with FC/CA
5) Droid with FC/SF
6) Droid with CA/SF
Being a Master Artisan and having access to many items in the different tools categories, I was able to perform pretty much all the tests myself, but had my friends who were specialists perform and confirm the same tests as well. I performed all testing out in a field away from all other crafting stations (private stationary, other droids, other people, etc.). I presumed that if I could "Experiment" with a given category of item before producing the prototype then that particular category's CSM was functional in the droid, and if i could not experiment then that CSM was not functional.
A) For WDG Testing, I constructed Control Units for the experimentation test.
B) For FC Testing, I constructed Bofa Treats for the experimentation test.
C) For CA Testing, I constructed Bone Armor Segments for the experimentation test.
D) For SF Testing, I constructed a Potted Plant for the experimentation test.
For test 1-A (droid with WDG/FC and building Control Units), experimenting functional. WDG active.
For test 1-B (same droid, building Bofa Treats), experimenting not functional. FC inactive.
For test 1-C (same droid, building Bone Armor Segments), experimenting not functional. This was just a confirmation.
For test 1-D (same droid, building a Potted Plant), experimenting not functional. As in test 1-C, I did not expect a positive result. I was just confirming this to be the case. In further test series, I did not test builds against droids that did not have the corresponding CSM installed.
For test 2-A, experimenting functional. WDG active.
For test 2-B, not done (no matching CSM module to item crafted)
For test 2-C, experimenting not functional. CA inactive.
For test 2-D, not done (no matching CSM module to item crafted)
For test 3-A, experimenting functional. WDG active.
For test 3-B, 3-C, not done (no matching CSM module to item crafted)
For test 3-D, experimenting not functional.SF inactive.
From these results above, it was clear that if the WDG was installed at all, it had the highest priority/precedence over any other CSM installed. Therefore, it would stand to reason that if the WDG is bugged and is allowing experimentation on everything, it could clearly seem like any other CSM installed was working when in reality they are not.
For those interested, following the same testing methodology above, I learned that FC had next highest priority, followed by CA and SF respectively. Interestingly enough, that precedence matches the time to production for crafting those corresponding modules. Meaning once you click the last button to create a prototype WDG CSM, itis produced in roughly 37+/- seconds (presuming no experimentation on the module was done). That is the fastest time for production of any of the four CSMs. FC takes longer than WDG, and CA takes longer than FC. The SF module is the slowest to produce at 69+/- seconds.
This is not consistent with what I'm seeing. And once again, all of the tabs appearing in the WDG tool does not strike me as weird or buggy. They are the same items that appear in the Generic Tool, Plus the added schematics for higher level weapon and droid schematics. To me, it is doing exactly what it should be doing. For example, a personal harvester can be built with a Generic Crafting Tool, therefore it can also be built with the Weapon, Droid and GENERIC ITEM Crafting Tool, this makes perfect sense to me. Why does everyone consider this a bug? An architect obviously is not able to make Heavy Harvesters using the WDG Tool, right? Its only the low level generic items that are showing up.
I put my test droid with WDG Station and CA Station out and looked at my chouices in my tool, The Advanced Droid Brain was there, an item that could only be crafted with a crafting station, this is proof that the WDG Station was functioning. An Armorsmith standing near me was able to build his Chitin Armor, this is prof that the Armor Station was also functional. We need more conclusive tests. And please, if you're using the WDG Station test on items that would not normally show up in the Generic Tool.
So, I bet your CF station is not 'working', it just happens that you can experiment food because you're using your WDG tool.
This works with droid crafting stations, as well as architct ones, though public crating stations seem to be working more how you would expect.

"We" shouldn't have to be testing.
What would make more sense to me, personally, would a red name pop in here and give us feedback on their in-house testing, showing what stations/mods and combinations did or did not work correctly.
For now, we'll have to all accept that they *may* work until we have reports of every possible combination's success/failure.
