Thread: Multiple Crafting Stations Work!

Xygnis,

Do more testing without using the WDG station and you will see why they are saying this is a bug. with a WDG tool, and a WDG crafting station you can craft anything, even master armorsmith items, that are supposed to require a cloth/armor tool and a cloth/armor personal station.

The WDG items (tool and station) have been bugged since they revamped a few schematics to give different exp (peronal harvestors giving gen crafting exp now).

Seriously, make a MSE adv with a FC and a cloth armor and have masters in those professions try to craft around it. you'll see that is broke. I doubt we will ever see, and I hope we won't, that all stations will fit, and work in 1 single droid.

I dunno if the WDG tool is bugged, but I certainly hope that the multiple crafting stationissue is NOT a bug. I think this is a much needed fix for the DE profession. It will serve to open up new markets for more functional crafting droids.

This is not good for DE's. Instead of selling 3 or 4 droids with separate crafting stations, we sell 1 with all the crafting stations. So you have just reduced sales by 75% or so. Only one crafting station should be allowed in a droid. Nobody should be able to make a "catch-all" crafting station.

Duncje is correct, need for multiple working crafting stations with only one working per droid = return business and increased sales. Customers aren't going to pay twice as much for one droid that has 2 or more working crafting stations. This can only Hurt our profession even more.

More crafting stations require more rare resources and time to build which means more cost and more profit while at the same time being a worthy investment forcustomers, many of whom tote more than one droid around due to the station limitation.

Granted it would be more resources (and not much of that really) used, but time? It would only take about a minute longer to make another crafting station. For my advanced R2 with the works I charge about 20k. Add in another station and I could charge what....23-25k. This will increase my profits how? When I could have made 40k, instead I'm now down at least 15k.

I'm 99.5% positive this is nothing more than another bug, and I hope no one starts selling droids made like this. Although I'm sure somejerks will do it (and probably already have)in hopes to make the quick buck before it's fixed and before people realize it's a bug.

A portable crafting station is already a worthy investment for customers btw. Needing multiple droids is one reason why everyone has 5 slots, just for droids, in the datapad

I'm in the same boat as duncje. My weapon/droid/gen item crafting station has all the tabs even though it should only have three. Perhaps the devs are feeling nice to us.

The name of the tool/station is "Weapon, Droid and General Item Crafting Tool/Station", not Generic Item.

Generic Items areany items with a Complexity of 15 and under. You can make them using just a Generic Crafting Tool (but no experimentation).

General Items are a completely separate category of craftable item.

Weapon, Droid, and General Item crafting tools should not be able to craft any item in the game - it is a bug.

Something I neglected to comment on in my lengthy post: when I performed all this testing, I did perform each test with the specific crafting tool for each of the corresponding tests. This means for the WDG test I used the WDG crafting tool (CT), for the FC test I used the FC CT, etc.

As another point of order here, I did perform these tests BEFORE the last big patch. At this point in time, the WDG CT only showed the tabs it was supposed to show (Weapon, Droid, General, to be precise). Similarly, the other CTs only showed what they were supposed to show based on the skills/professions I had achieved at the time. I noticed very quickly that after the big patch, the WDG CT showed all the same tabs as the Generic CT. To me, this was a pain in the arse, as I hate having to scroll the tabs to get to the General tab.

Yeah, it's a laziness thing, but why would they (the DEVs) go to all the trouble of creating separate CTs if the Generic CT could do it all? Why would anyone want separate tools in this case? It was my understanding early on that the Generic CT could not craft items that had schematic complexities over a certain number. The Generic CT would not show you schematics you otherwise had. The only way to see/craft those other items was to A) be using the SPECIFIC CT to that item, and B) be standing next to a crafting station (CS)or a droid with the corresponding CSM. I also understood that different items required you to be near a PRIVATE crafting station (PCS) or CSM-enabled droid versus a public CS. I never really tested the General CT for this, since I gravitated towards the separate individual CTs.

But now, since the WDG CT is doing something that (I believe) was not originally intended, it is very tough to assess what is "working" and what is not. The question is one of: If the CT is "buggy", does that bugginess extend to the corresponding CSMs AND PCSs/CSs or is it strictly related to the CT only? I suppose someone could test for that (find a sole WDG PCS with no droids or other PCSs around, pull out the WDG CT and see if you can experiment with a Bofa Treat which is normally an FC-related item), but it is unlikely that a DEV is going to come in here and tell us what is working and what is a bug, and what the "intended" behavior should have been/will be.

Boy, that's the truth. I hope in then end thet fix the tool and that multiple crafting stations are possible. Then R3 Advs might actually be used to their full potential.

Not at all. Make a droid and install both a Food/Chem module and a Structure module. Hand it to your Architect friend and ask him to try and make some sort of advanced component with it.

If it is "working" then he should be able to make whatever he wants. If it is still bugged, he won't be able to access the Structure module because the Food/Chem module is "lower level" and thus overrides the Structure module.

If the first test works, hand the droid to your Doctor buddy and see if he can craft high-level stimpacks with it.

Actually, I did as you suggested in my original test, Kollos (see my first lengthy posting in this thread). I was responding to Xygnis who claims that he disagrees with my findings and that multiple CSMs are working in a single droid. Not that I have an issue with someone disagreeing with me (it's a free world). I was basically offering additional insight into why I believe it isn't working as he prescribes and that if it turns out to be that it truly IS working, I was further saying that I believed that it was in error and that it will (probably and eventually) stop working.

Again, my whole premise is based on the presumption that the devs intended for the various PCSs, CSMs, and CTs to NOT OVERLAP functionality with each other. To be more specific, I mean that I believe the way this was intended (by the devs) is that no specific CT should have the same capabilities/functionality as another CT (the Generic CT being the only exception), no specific CSM or PCS have the same functionality as another PCS, etc.

Long story short: prior to this last big patch, you could not craft a Bofa Treat with the WDG CT. Presently, however, you can. I believe that this behavior is unintended, and that in time this will revert back to the way it was before the last big patch. This is strictly my belief. I have no data to back that up, nor am I incommunicado with any DEV that can confirm that. This change has all the markings of an accident (like not being able to craft various droid Chassis) and not an intentional functionality shift (like the nerfing of Probots or Droid Permadeath--an experiment which was later revoked).

Marc, I have to apologize. I guess I was way too hasty, I guess I was just excited at the premise that something in the profession might actually be working. You are indeed correct and the behavior I was seeing is most likely related to the WDG bug. Sorry
