Thread: Did you ever wish that humanoid droids were made like this?
For each of these items, there could be multiple schematics. For example, we currently have three humanoid droid designs for each, 3PO, 21B and LE. I figure bump that up to five or maybe 10 styles of each.
Then you'd assemble your droid, and it could have a truly custom look.
This would be a schematic change, and an art change, and might have no real functional impact on the droid, although I suppose different designs might have different effects on the final assembled droids.... I figure let the torso design be what controls the module handling capability.
awsome idea, this would bring much needed diversity to the game. Perhaps each piece of the droid could be experimented on to have different resists/ham/battery usage/module space.
And when you build the final droid you could put in different modules.
This would be awsome.... and it would tie in with my idea of droid combat crafting so well. You are a genious dude.
This wouldn't apply to the basic versions of the droids. You'd still have the basic LE repair, 21B surgical, and 3PO protocol models available, but the advanced versions, crafted from chassis, would be where this level of customization came in.

When I first heard of this game and of the Droid Engineer, this is exactly what I thought it would be like. I thought there would be actual components that changed even the functionality of the droids. For instance, the "rolling" type would have a different motive system than the "humanoid" than the "floaty". So DE's could have a truly custom shop, making experimental droids that both looked and functioned differently.
Boy was I dissapointed when I found out what it really was all about. Cookie-cutter city. Having an advanced brain, two advanced brains, or no brain at all doesn't make one single difference. Notice we make a "manipulator arm (just one)" for the LE and Protocol, but no legs? There is no separate repulsor for the floaty droids; it is just the same motive system on the R3, Protocol, and Probot.
