Thread: Did you ever wish that humanoid droids were made like this?

Just to clarify, and to address the 'extra components issue'...
I figure that a 'head unit' would take the place of, and use about the same resources as an advanced droid brain. 'Leg units' would do the same for advanced droid motive systems, 'Arm units' would correspond to manipulator arms, 'torso units' would replace Advanced Droid Frame Units, and so on. In essence, we'd be replacing these very generic items with ones more suited to the task at hand.
You see, I too have limited inventory and factory space, so I wouldn't want to multiply the burden!
To be frank, if I had my druthers I would also add an additional customization step to at least the head assembly, allowing for something along the lines of character facial customization. The aesthetics of my advanced protocol units might be significantly different from the aesthetics of your protocol units without having any material effect, much like the insectoid vs. 3PO protocols of the actual Star Wars universe. This way when I crafted a head design I liked, I could run off a factory schematic for it, and folks would KNOW who made that droid because it LOOKS like a product of Droids by Rho, or of Buni's Pleasure Droids, or that it is one of Gribnitz' creations (sorry, don't know your corporate logo!).

Have you ever tried crafting weapons as a weaponsmith? I am just learning the profession now and there are many choices to put different barrels or scope looks into the weapons you make. As I counted, there were like 7 different barrels for pistols and about 5 different scope looks. What do you get when you put them into a weapon? The same old picture that everyone else gets. Great idea, tried to implement it, failed miserably....a life in the day of SOE and SWG: An Empire Unfinished.
