Thread: What are you doing while waiting for your DE to become useful... or even playable?

I for one have stopped playing my DE all together. I've taken down all twenty of his harvs and his factory and put enough credits in his house to last awhile. I've renamed the house DE on strike and locked the doors.

I am now on a new server with a new character. I am choosing combat and doing as little to stimulate the economy as possible. I took a novice entertainer skill just so I could stand with my flute in hand asking for people to do things for cheap or even free for me since I had no money. I buy as little as possible and sell even less. I make what I need as much as possible and don't put a single thing on the bazaars. My goal? To become the biggest parasite I possibly can.

I am enjoying playing as a marksman though. I should have done this in the first place instead of going DE but I'll be darned if I'll give up any of my DE skills, almost to Master, as they where so hard earned.

So, what are you doing while you wait? Are you still playing your DE character or have you given up for now and gone on to something more rewarding? Something more rewarding could encompass a whole range of things, even staring at blank monitor could be considered more rewarding than THIS profession.

Um, how did you have 20 harvestors and factories? I only have 10 lots.

I am planning on earning my Squad Leader ability in the meantime.

Easy, find a friend who is not using any or all of thier lots and rent them. I had up to thirty harvs at one point not including solars for collecting energy.

yeah i agree this is ridiculous, i have to spend all day and night maintaining my harvestors to maintain/deposit power into them, to make a whole lot of resources, only to turn them into little junk bots i can't even sell, i should have been a weaponsmith, look at the money in that! not to mention it looks fun, experiement using diff resources to craft, get a great item, and then make a schematic for it to produce tons of the little buggers, don't tell me i need bigger harvestors, i can barely maintain these little ones, 20k metal and 5k chemical to first tier, oh hurray, i should have sold those units, d.e. is a big money hole, a endless blackhole in your wallet, quit before you get too far in!!!! run!!! now!!!

LOL Yeah, I call the profession the bottomless pit. Just start throwing money and resources down the hole and pray they eventually give you something to make it all worth while. Well, I ain't praying anymore. The whole thing makes me want to kill something... so I go and kill things with my new character. Feels good being the slaughterer insted of the slaughted.

Guys

Think you must be doing something wrong.

Selling seekers and probes and leveling at the same time here. Making good enough money from these droids plus the odd expensive droid. Making power-ups on the side using my factory. Maybe I am not power-leveling but what is the point until the new combat droids are in?

Doesn't allow me much time at the moment to use my rifle ... can't keep up with my BH trade.

i for one stopped making and advertising droids. just wasn't worth wihle to even try. so what i did was go into the smuggler profession. its a lot more fun than being a DE. with Underworld 1, you get 10% off all faction perks (key when marine body armor costs you only 3600 instead of 4000). with master smuggler, i heard you get 25% off faction perks. plus all of those negative faction points you have can be sold to the opposing recruiter. the payout ratio is like 10 cr : 1 faction pt. slicing is cool, but annoying at times and expensive. spices are worthless since food can give you equal or greater the benefits with no downers. and dirty fighting can be cool with panic shot, lowblow (KD) and feign death (if fixed).

the only problem i see with new smugglers is obtaining slicing 1. you need like 20 locked containers to achieve it and, as of now, locked containers are rare as players with Force Slots. those that found them sells them for at least 3K.

Funny thing is, I stopped playing my Commando to be a Droid Engineer on Shadowfire.

That's before I knew of the problems facing DEs. God, I must be a glutton for punishment or have some really bad karma floating around.

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
