Please, anyone else how is approuched ot do this, either sell a modded schematic (read experimentationallly or generically created) or nothing at all. A modded schematic has a max life of 1000 and a generic schematic has unlimited use (I dont know though, if I can sell the one I earned with novice DE)

I know someone out there is gonna sell this cheapa$$ a schematic and that hits ALL of us in the pocket.

ANd to top it off, he was willing to cough a whole 2K for all the schematics needed.

He means a BH asked him to sell an experimental schematic (you cant sell draft schematics) for one of the bounty hunter droids (probably seeker) for 2K (which is about the cost of just 2 of them)

Hes asking fellow DE's not to sell schematics for such a low price because it will bottom out the BH droid market

I see hes point but I think hes panicing alittle too much. You cant sell a draft schematic so theres _always_ going to be a limit on how many they can make from the experimental schematic, plus the fact that exactly the same resources used to make the schematic must be used to produce the droid so theres a second limiting factor there

2k is a joke though

Selling a Seeker schematic to a Bounty Hunter isn't going to bottom out the droid market. As mentioned before, they need to have the exact resources used in the schematic, and they have to have the Master Artisan components as well. 2K sounds just about right.

Unless the person was a good friend I would charge him at least 80% of the normal price for making him each and every unit of that schematic.

I don't have problems selling people schematics for the master artisan bits or even components like some crafting stations but I would never ever sell a completed item schematic. This is basically a way to shoot yourself in the foot. Unless this person is a close friend what is the incentive to sell this guy a cheep schematic when the alternative would be for this same person to spend a good deal of cash to buy the finished products through you.

Oh I see thank you for clearing that up for me, yes that seems a bit to low for the schematic. That is a good point about the resources involed.

My personal confusion is a modded schematic vs an expermental schematic, I know how to make the exp schematic but what is the modded schematic? I just started using factories a day ago so im not sure how everything works.

I dont know where you got the idea I am/was panicing Ashrid. My point with the post was to ask my fellow DEs not to sell a 100 or 1000 limit schematic for an insanely low price, such as the gentleman asked me to sell him last night.

No more, no less. Did I mention anything about tanking the market if the schematics are sold, no. Does it hit us in the pocket, yes, some. The only real droids I sell worth the cr is a med droid and seekers. I cant do adv R2 with a cluster of lvl IV stuff yet. So, the incident my not effect you, but it will hit me.

Glad this topic brought out some discussion.

Unless the person who wanted to buy the schematic was already a Seeker droid customer of yours, then selling that person the schematic does you no harm. If you weren't already getting business from that person, then selling the schematic is opening up a new revenue stream for you.

I wouldn't hesitate to sell a schematic like that, because the people who request them generally aren't my customers anyway, and new business is good business as far as I am concerned. Also, I think once people buy the schematic and encounter the difficulties in actually producing the item (given the buggy-ness of factories right now), you may actually end up with a new droid customer, because they don't want to fool with producing the droids.

You do all realize that a schematic for a seeker or probe droid is almost utterly worthless, right? They need Electronic Memory Modules and GP Modules. What is more, because a schematic has to use the -exact- same materials, you can't just use any old EMM or GP Module. It has to be one with the same serial number as the ones used to make the schematic.

Why yes, I will sell you that schematic for 2k.

What? You want to buy EMM and GP modules for it? Oh. Those are very special. There's only 100 on the whole server with those serial numbers. I'm afraid they are 2k a piece.

I have a new understanding of the process now and appreciate the new customer prospective given above. And your right, he would rpob come back after not being able to produce them.

thx for the feedback, insight and new prospectives.

I couldnt remember what went into the seeker either but I thought that it took GPs, I think it would be a pain to make those for a non-DE, not impossible but an exspensive pain to have to buy a factory and then needing two schematics, if they didnt want to by the componets them selves.

I tried this route, had extra xp decided to get novice arch to build myself a factory, nota great idea considering I had about 100units of ore, lol.

I realize now that my original post advocated trying the cheat the Bountyhunter and while I meant it in jest this is not something I would ever personally do. Of course if they annoyed you enough you could always do this:

Make a schematic for EMMs and GP Modules, run off just the few you needed, build a schematic for a probe droid or seeker droid, then sell all three schematics, at which point Mr. Bountyhunter is going to have to gather the exact materials for three factory runs, run each one through, redeed when the factory jams and spend an extra 2500cr, find out that his factory won't accept EMMs or GP Modules in crates, split the EMMs and GP Modules into separate units, start the factory again, empty everything out because its jammed once more, redeed again, and finally finish his run of droids. Then, when he gets ready for his next run he can discover that the resources have shifted and he can no longer get one of the resources needed for his schematics.

I find this solution to be a much preferable solution since it does not cheat the client in any way (I would warn him that even with the schematics it is a pain) and does so much to help him understand just exactly how much pain we go through and why his probe droid is no longer 200cr.

If a BH wants a schematic, that means they own and maintain a factory, were able to purchase all the resources, and the Master Artisan components.

If they went that extra mile, they deserve the schematic. At least then they know how costly it is to make those things.
