I've been a MDE for quite a while now, and the plan described for DE as it is now will not help increase the number of droids about. At this rate with the current limited functionality and minimal functionality that is planned to be added, I wish the plan to focus on combat droids would have just gone ahead. At least there would have been more droids around and an actual market.
If I had known that it was either DC/Hybrid or couple tiny improvements I would have reconsidered my stance.
Anyone else feeling the same way?

After this long wouldn't it be kind of mean-spirited to waste the work of all those MDE's before us? I'm not that new to DE, but I'm not almost a year long veteran of this pain either.

Not me.
We should stop excusing this company and this development team for their inability to get this crap working right in the first place!!
Why should people think that, in orderfor us toget proper attention and fixes to the profession and droids we have to: 1) Shut up and swallow whatever they shovelat us, or 2) Voice our demands as a communityfor bug fixes and greater utility only to have them pay lip service to those demands or claim that greater utility "isn't possible"???
Ridiculous!

Oh, one more note: It was never "Droid Commander or DE/Combat Hybrid"
In SOE's eyes, it was only "Droid Commander".

DC no, Hybrid yes. Wasn't hard to read the writing on the wall over the last month that the Dev teamwon't actually take any real steps in making droids an integrated part of the game (E.G. the other professions), which is why I pushed toget some decent combat droids added into the DE profession. I've been telling everyone that we shouldtry and pushfor this because the publish 8 is going to be really weak (as this latest set of comments demonstrates) but I'm thinking it may be too late to do anything now.

Makes me think of a visit to the optometrist:
*click* "Better, or worse?"
"WORSE!"
*clack-click* "Better, or worse?"
"WORSE WORSE Aren't you listening?"
*clack-click* "Better, or worse?"
"ACK THIS IS THE WORST YET! Please put the first one back!"
*clack-click-clack* "This one? I thought you said it was worse."
"Well it wasn't that bad but I didn't realize it because I was too busy being mad that I couldn't see the nurse's name badge two rooms away like I thought I was going to be able to."
Yeah, I know. If I could, I would one-star myself. Well, maybe two stars for creativity.

You know what has made me mad in this post? The thought that we should just cowtowto the Dev's whims and meekly swallow whatever they're cooking up(Droid commander) regardless of what the community wants.
Yes, that makes me mad, and rightly so I say.

Yep, hybrid. Wish they had told us. I think DEs would have settled on hybrid if they knew the alternate was DH or no-combat droids.

DH/DC was, and shall remain, a bad idea.

The hundreds of people that voted against it very likely are not incorrect. They knew it was wrong...and they are still right.

I'd love hybrid also, but they never gave us that choice! From TH's first post on the subject in January, it's been "DH or nothing".
Yeah, we got plenty of lip service ("make your suggestions", "ooh, interesting idea", "nice, but it won't work") from them, but never ever anything official other than the DH plan.

But what about hybrid, TK?

Actually, I believe they said they looked at 'all the options' (3: Certs, Hybrid and DC/DH) and decided that DC/DH was the "best" solution (for them, not for the players).

All ideas and methods to cert them were summarily shot down. It's too bad really. Had they only communicated more (and more openly) with us all so many moons ago, we'd have had this all done by now.
Seriously.
Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot, huh, friends?

Under ordinary circumstances, I'd agree with your descriptioncompletely on this. However, the problem is that many of us (especially the really long term'ers), would have been unbelievably happy if they added nothing and just fixed all of the bugs on Gorantoth's thread.
While I cannot speak for anyone other than myself, I would guess that the large majority of us are not so much upset that we are not as UBER as we had wished, but that instead we are frustrated that we are just not as functional or useful as most other professions are, and we have been in this state since beta. We have had (and still have) more bugs per capita than any other profession and less attention and less (obvious) effort spent on us to go along with it. Though, to be fair, we've gotten quite a bit of lip service, which should count for something.
I am sure we'd all like to see the nurses' badge from two rooms away, but for most of us, we'd be happy if we even had the opportunity to sit in the freakin chair. Instead, along the lines of your example, we're sitting in our optometrist's waiting room being told we'll be called any time now...and when we finally do get called, we're given a podiatrist instead.
