Thread: Droid Customization back on Test

I just made and used a droid customization tool on the Test Center. I was able to turn the frame of my droid a nice blood red. However, the customization disappeared when the droid was stored. The Customization tool required 1 droid storage compartment, 1 control unit and a few metal and mineral. It is a charge device that can apparently have multiple charges. 1 charge per customization.

Sidebar: Droids are apparently counting as pets, they cannot be called inside houses on Test.

so customization tools work. Can you only change droids to colors you have available in your customization level skills?

Does droid customization from the craft work?

I've got one block of Customization and I get 64 colors when I use the customization tool. Not tried crafting a droid with a custom frame yet, but I would expect the same behavior for storage and customization erasure.

So you need a special tool with charges that requires *two* subcomponentsand you have to customize your droid *every* time you call it? I dunno, the term "weak" comes to mind... =)

Thanks for testing this out though, let us know how the new droid repair tool works. =)

There is no droid repair tool. I'm not finding a schematic for it nor am I finding it listed in the skill tree.

The custom colored chassis does not yet function.

I tested this again with an LE Repair Droid ADV.

I made a silver chassis, but when I assembled the droid he was the default coloring.

The Customization tool allowed me to choose from 64 colors however, and these droids look really nice in a near black. He retained his coloring after storage.

Interestingly, I've noticed that the customization tool gives me different color choices depending on what droid I'm customizing.

Additionally, it appears as though the LE Repair Droid can still not be programmed and therefore remains unnamable.

You are mistaken. I saw the Droid Repair Tool schematic available in by WDG crafting tool just last night.

You are not playing on the test center galaxy. On TC there is no droid repair tool currently.

Thanks for the update. Hopefully it sounds like some droids not keeping their custom colors after storage is a bug and not a feature. =)

Don't know about test center, but I had a heck of a time finding thison Live serversas it's in a strange spot. It's actually an Artisan skill (acquired with Engineering II) that shows up under the Weapon tab of the crafting tool. You prolly know this, but since I couldn't find it at first, thought I'd throw it out there.

Cheers,

I've not had time yet to play fully with a Chassis, but I did customize an advanced probot chassis today. At Customize 1 I had 16 colors to choose from, 8 shades each of gray and blue. I chose a light blue for visibility. (I'll be making a customization tool to try on it in a bit to see what other colors show up there.)

When I tamed the probot it clearly showed the color. I put the probot away, called again and got the message "Your droid's customization has faded fully." However, the Probot still appeared to have the customization. I had to leave for RL things at that point but I'll be going back in soon to make more comparisons to see if it really did fade.

My experiments with an R5 and a Binary Load Lifter indicated that they did not hold customization once stored. I was very disappointed to see my PizzaDelivery BLL not be Pepperoni Red when I called him again.
