Thread: Droid Customization back on Test
However, the droid customization tool provided 64 colors. I painted the advanced probot a really nice red, and it held the coloring after being stored.
For Droid Customization kits you're going to want High Conductivity and High OQ.
16 metal
6 mineral
3 mineral
1 control unit
1 droid storage compartment
928 cond and 613 oq gave me three uses on the kit. Low quality materials I used yesterday (can't recall what) only gave me one use on the kit.
So what you saying is that you can color any driod with this tool. Although when you store it it ereases the color off of it so you have to RE color it? That really makes me loose all faith in the DEV team. I hope they are still working on it, why would anyone want to have to repaint a driod every time you bring it out. That is like saying every time you take off a shirt and put it back on you it is back to the white color and you have to RE dye it. I have a few qestions also.
I am master DE and does this mean their will be a new costomization skill tree or wil it just go off the Refinement tree?
Also can anyone change the color or just DE?
Last, To make the coloring tool do you have to be a DE or can any artisan make it?
Thanks, I hope they are still workin gon this whole color costomizaion thing perhaps they did not fully work it out to were it would stay colored. If they intended to make it so you have to re color your driod is have NO IDEA what the DEVS are thinking. I have been a loyal player since day 1 wtih 2 accounts but this really seems to be stupid if this is how they entended it to be.
I know you might be saying have some gratitude they actualy added something to DE but if that is what it was ment to be i dont see how that helps, or even makes DE more intresting.I can just see it now. A guy comes in to buy a driod I want a red driod ok that will be 30 credits to paint it. Pays me the 30 credits. Thanks then he stores it and goes in to town next time he calls it, it will be the default colors. I really see how that is helpfull to our profession.
Correct me if I am wrong but I interpreted the results as follows:
1) Droids with customized chasis do not retain their customization.
2) If the *new* customize tool is used, they will retain their customization and it will degrade ...and it may not work on some droids or may not work on droids with customized chasis.
Can we have some additional clarification and testing on different droid types?
At that time you also get the Droid Customization Kit schematic.
You must have the Droid Customization skill to use the Droid Customization Kit.
At this time, the customization is still buggy.
Customizing the chassis during production in the standard manner has no effect.
Customizing the tamed droid has the following bugs:
R-Units do not currently retain customization upon storage
Binary Load Lifters do not currently retain customization upon storage
Protocol Droids are not customizable
Probots and LE Repair Droids appear to be permenantly customized by this tool. (Blood red Probots will probably be in high demand)
I've not tried the other droids yet.
This is how it is CURRENTLY on test center. This is subject to complete change before it hits live.
There are also currently no droid repair kit schematics on Test Center.
Did you say no droid repair kits?!?!?!!!
Just look in your tool and it is there.
Can't you see it?
Sorry, that was mean, but I hada . . .
thx SO much for taking the time to post this for us. It gives me a modicum of faith that someone is looking at DE issues. Allbeit not this signifcant ones I would LOVE to see addressed, but we are getting something.
Stinky, the quote was that on the TEST CENTER server and the TEST CENTER server the tool is not available. It is on live, he was reporting the current state of affairs on the TEST CENTER.
Sorry, for ranting but he does compose a post in a easy to understand format.

Do Test Center rules permit you from taking screenshots and posting them?
If you ARE allowed to do so, can you please take a screenshot of:
- The customisation tool in the crafting window (showing what it needs etc)
- The customisation tool in your inventory
- Each step of customisating the colour of a droid
- Several different droids with several different colours
If you'd rather keep the screenshots private, or want somewhere to host them, then please email them to me at: [email protected] ![]()
It was stated already in the post, what was needed to build the customization tool. I believe that it was1 control unit, 1 Droid Storage Compartment, 9 mineral, and 16 metal. Quality of the tool is reliant on OQ and Conductivity and is a limited charge item. As to how it looks, I would assume that it would look just like the Droid Repair Kit, which will no longer exisit.
Plinka, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the second time now that the Droid Customization tool has hit TC, and that most of the issues that aren't working now were also happening then? From what it sounds like, the changes between the two occasions is that this time at least a few of the Droid types now have the colors sticking. Just wanted to find out if you, Plinka, or maybe even Sintrosi knew how much has changed in its function, in the time that ithas beenaway from TC. Also, THANK YOU for helping to keep us updated and letting us know a bit ahead of time what should be expected. I've alread got some Droid Storage compartments and conrtol units being pumped out in preparation of for the Tools release, if it makes it to publish this time.
I made a kit with a failed experimentation point and the kit only had 2 charges instead of three.
Also, I made a power droid to test customization upon. It has two customizable colors, frame and trim. (Looks great in a purple frame with gold trim.)
It does not currently retain it's customization after storing.
I'll be making a surgical droid today to test customization on that and will report the results here.

Way to go Plinka ! Thanks for keeping us in the loop.
Makes me think about joining the TC with you to help out ...but then who'd sell that one droid I sell every day bloodfin? hhmmm
hehe
-K
Anyone wanting screenshots of these droids, create a character on test center, start it in Mos Eisley, head west to Liberty. That's my base of operations.

Well Kralis if you did that I would probably sell two a day on bloodfin, lol.
I wonder if these changes will go live this week?
