I take it all in stride. Yes, I want fixes, I want changes, I want improvements. But I can still craft droids (with the exception of that infamous weekend). In the meantime, I do what I can do, and have fun doing it.

P.S. I also belong to group 3

Yeah, really.. I'm having tons of fun... And it's not like I can't do anything else but craft droids all day.. Most DE (unless you're a- ugh... Dare I say it... "HOLOCRON HUNTER") have other skills to enjoy, most are Master Artisans, which allows you to make a FORTUNE by crafting vehicles.. I am also Novice Pistoleer with 0-0-3-0 and working on 0-0-4-0 now. So it's not like I'm sitting around with my thumb up a Probot's butt waiting on some patch that noone can agree on when we get... To be honest... I could care less about when it happens, because I know that the developers are doing what they can to keep everyone satisfied..

Hell, think of them like you would politicians. (the real ones) They will NEVER be able to make EVERYONE happy.. They can only try to keep everyone content..

Thats about the way I see it (though I do think there is another category, those who just enjoy making droids). I've been trying to tell people that we're not nearly as bad as everyone thinks, but they won't listen.

I am in the both catagory, I have a blast making and selling droids. Although I am also a 2/0/1/1 fencer and I find both of them fun to play. I will say that until recently, fencer was about as f'ed up as DE, now we are a step above the pikemen. It is kinda funny, on the fencer boards, they have the same gripes about commandos, bounty hunters, and TKAs as we do about CHs.

I've been a MDE for roughly 2 months. Granted there are quite a few flaws to out profession, and it may be lacking in a few areas (combat droids) but I must say that a lot of people give WAY to much into the whole "DE nerfed" theory. I can say for a fact that your sales of droids are dependant on YOU, not your profession. Last night I was tooling around in Coronet and just by having my DE title on, made upwards around 400k credits. I, however have learned by knowing my profession, and my limitations how to acomplish this. I know there are other issues, as it seems we are broken into 3 seperate groups;

Group 1 wants to make the money,

Group 2 wants to craft and operate Combat droids

Group 3 wants both.

(I belong to group 3)

However, we are not broken beyond usefulness, it just depends on how resourceful you are. I patiently await the patches and fixes we all know we are due, but come on guys... Relax a bit and try a new approach to your craft..

Fortune?

Given the current price on those on Eclipse I can make more credits by selling pure resources on the bazaar.

And you said it yourself, most DE's are Master Artisans and that in itself leaves you quite low on other skills to enjoy.
The only things I have use for in the artisan tree are the Master-box components I need for droids.

My only complaints so far just getting into DE (just got Adv. Blueprints)...

Starting out in DE is no fun...MSE's are completely useless. Level 1 Storage compartments only carry 1 item (again very useless). If I held off on the general crafting xp and got Architect, I would have gotten the ability to make all the crafting stations (which are scattered all over the DE skills) and a house. Those things appear pretty useful to me (for both sales and personal use). I don't know what exactly Weapon/Armoursmiths get at Novice, but I'm sure some of their items could sell too. Basically, DE doesn't start getting usefuluntil about 2/2/0/3 or even higher.

Second, we depend way too much on Master Artisan. Do the other crafting professions depend on MA like we do? If so, then that's not so bad. If not, then things have to change.

However, I'm not going to complain (much) on the whole half-finished feeling I get looking at and reading about DE (namely, BLLs and Protocol droids) as almost all of the "elite" professions have the same half-finished feeling about them.

Why complain?

First....and the biggest gripe is that it makes no sense to get to Master DE at all. Any novice can make the same droids I can using the cluster exploit. Even if you take out the cluster exploit, a novice can sill make a nice R2 with max medical and item storage, which leaves a master with adding the stinking data modules or repair modules that no one really wants.

Second...We have no legitimate combat droids to try and sell. The probot still sucks even with the non-CH pet nerf. They go down fast fighting any humanoid NPC, or low-mid level creature.

Third...Droids have no distinction. They are all the same. Slap an item module in a MSE, it is the same as an R2. Add in the cluster exploit and you expound on that problem. An MSE is the same **edit** thing as a top of the line droid. Again, why Master the profession?

Fourth...We can't heal our puny probots. Slap them in the datapad if you want to heal them up and wait 30 minutes, then try it again.

Fifth...the personality chips are stupid. The only time any droid talks is when you program the thing. Other than that what's the use of having it all ?

Sixth...I am sure there are tons more. My brain is frazzled reading this "quit bitching" post. We have plenty of gripes. (unless your a novice DE that is and want to keep stacking mods).

I think most of the griping is due to the fact that there are so many bugs that have persisted since before the release of the game and nearly none of these issues has been addressed since before the release of the game.

You have droids which are supposed to have inherent abilities (surgical, repair) that you still have to add the proper module to give them the ability, and some still won't work even after that.

Even the few features that have been added after release do not work properly and have not been addressed (customization).

We have repeatedly been promised things that have never been delivered on.

That's just the short version. If you've been with us for only 2 months, you see things for what they currently are. You haven't seen the history, or the promises, or the let downs many of us have seen.

THAT being said, I do love playing with my droids and explaining things and talking to people.

I AM having fun. I'm just a little disappointed how things have gone.

And I'm HOPING (since release) that things will get better as we've recently been assured.

.....waiting for the payoff (not creds) for all the work and having fun in the mean time.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

The system doesnt work as designed, but I am finding that when I improvise, I make money. For instance, I make r4s and just call them surgical r4s cause people in the game want surgical droids when infact, the advanced r4 can do the job better anyways cause it has more slots and and two armor slots. About fifty percent of the people that come to me that want a surgical droid want one cause their surgical droidskeep getting beat down in battle. The adv r4 takes wwwaaayyyy more punishment and with the extra slots you can add a storage module on top of the food and chemical crafting station and medical module. I sell alot of those. Of course when they get the repair droid system to work right, then I will have to think of something else. It is good fun

Roeri. I usually dont post in direct toposts of this naturebut this one warrents some ... education.
You said it pretty clear. 'Personally, I've no clue why everone is complaining... '.

Dead on. You have no clue.
Artisan, Weaponsmith, Armorsmiths,Architects, Medics, and BE's (good job guys!)all enjoy some level of control over their products. With proper materials, and the application of skill, they can make a superior product to their competitors. We can not.

Converse droids have not been able to take a name since the dawn of this game.
2-1b's can not have storage modules.
Data modules serve no purpose.
Our BEST (from a resources required perspective) chassis has no module slots.
Repair droids can not have repair modules.
Power droids complain of low power.
Power droids can not have repair modules.

Oh there are more. The real problems revolve around the lack of documentation. How does a crafting station in a droid compare to a personal crafting station. Exactly what advantage does experimenting on any module provide?

Right now we can provide one adequate low-mid level combat droid. We can provide crafting station droids, medical droids, storage and repair droids. We can provide combinations of these things. It really adds up to two products. The combat droid and the 'everything else' droid. Using the socket cluster bug we can lump this into one droid.

It can be fun to make droids. I still do it. I do it only because I see potential. In the mean time, I craft armor, run the RIS quest, and test the waters with an occasional run of 50 probots or so to see if they sell.

Enjoy your clue.

Apparently I have no clue, and you can't read. Because it's evident that you missed my point ENTIRELY.

I am aware of the problems DE endures. I am aware of the bugs we have. HOWEVER-

I only wished to state that we can still generate income, and have FUN while we wait for the fixes. I- as well as a TON of others would like to see the DE forum return to IDEAS and INFORMATION, rather than a bunch of people rabbling about what's wrong with our profession. Let it go and wait for the fixes to come, who cares what got fixed first or who is biger and better than us. You became a DE for a reason I would assume. To have fun. If you're not having fun, then go! And let us have our forum back.
