"It is my opinion that a new profession should be a unique, interestingaddition to the game that is not merely a copy or derivative of an existing class. There are already too manyprofessions in SWG that are similar with each other; I did not want to add to that problem. The Droid Commander profession would have needed a lot more development time than I had to spend in the schedule to ensure it was not simply a "metallic CH" profession. Finally, as mentioned before, it is my goal to ensure that all existing professions have their own unique, viable identity in SWG before thinking about adding new professions to the game."

My thoughts exactly. Except I think Droid Commander is a "metallic CH" by definition. Oh well, it's nice to see a dev talking sense (although the pessimist in me takes this as a sure sign that we'll get Droid Commander).

Runesabre is determined to ram the DH profession down our throats no matter how much we protest against it. The BE/CH profession thing was a huge mistake. Now he's determined to repeat it.

I'm sorry, but what are you thanking him for? Words?

I would like to see some Action. That is the thing that is eating me up. The Words.

Promises made and broken. Not listening to the player base and then turning it around to be our fault.

Idon't care if we have DE/DC. I don't care if we have Certs.. I don't care if every bloody player on the server can runaround with a Droidika.

I want the profession to work. I want it to be useful. I want to make a commodity the players will want. I want to make something that I dont have to make excuses for!!!!

Hmm... I guess I should switch to decaf.

My two cents

Sorry, talk didn't get any less cheap today than it was yesterday. The fact that this little speech came from a guy with a wannabe poser name makes it even more cheap.

To Capnsteve.

My last post was not directed at you. It is the mind set that aggrivates me. Dev says some words and we give them a 6-8 week break. We are paying for this game. We deserve a working profession. Right now its not looking like we will get that till the 1 year aniversary of this game.

Droids should be central to this game. But for what ever reason they are not. They have had over 8 months to wrestle with this delema and the best we hear is "we got to start all over". We sat back while everyother profession got worked on. We sat back as player cities, mounts and vehicles where put in. Then came our turn to get the love and well here we are.

Well its 5am pst and Im rambling. Captnsteve I just hope you didn't take offence if you did consider this my apology.

All this means is the time frame for sellable droids has gotten even more distant. They are hesitant to add modual functionality because of balance effects. They are hesitant to add combat droids due to balance effects. They have been talking themselves around in a big circle and the outcome is very likely to be that we will get a couple bug fixes and they will then wash their hands of DE. I have no hope at all that droids will be fun or interesting in the near future. I believe that our main hope is not the near term nor even summer I think droids could potentially shine in the space expansion.

If the devs from the ground up design the space expansion to make use of droids as they do in the movies as necessary features for the correct operation of ships then we could very well have a good market at least in the astromech droids.

Oh give it up. the guy with the "poser" name has the final say in what gets done or not. He's only taken up his position this pastmonth, and so far from every thing he has said he seems to have 100x more of a grasp then his predecessor.

He is dealing with the fallout of decisions made by his predecessor, and it takes extreme courage on his part to STOP the poorly thought out plan and rethink their position. The easy solution would of been to go forward with what they had planned/finished. Wouldnt of affected them in the least, some/most DE's would go, and a new flood would take their place. Half the player base would be happy to pick up the new professionfor the droids, and half aint bad. If half the DE's woke up tommorrow and cancelled their account, it would be barely a blip, since we make up .8% of the population.

Are there going to be delays? of course there are. the question is what comes next. And yes, at the very least it going to be publish 8 or 9 before they are even given the CHANCE. If they decided this week to do whatever to our profession, there's no way it can get into publish 7, and unlikely 8. Thats just development. their is a long lead time, and qa time, and then test server before going live. That doesnt happen in a couple weeks.

I know it feels like a hollow victory. but its not. If they had made DC, it would of been 18 boxes of skills to be able to spam A, and unlike CH, they wouldnt have hundreds of variations of creatures. They would of had a handful of droids that probably would been all the same. How long do you think people would of stayed with that? Oh some would, just as we're stupid enough to stay DE's after being kicked repeatedly, but most would get bored.

It aint pretty. But it is what it is. Adding DC would of been like a starving family of 28 having another baby, and needing to share a loaf of bread for dinner.

I guess some portion of the DE community doesn't like this but to me it says a couple of things:

Runesabre, Lead Developer, "gets it".

Taken in the context of TH's comments in the same thread, its looks like we are gonna get 1) FIXES and 2) more utility modules/droids.

Seems to me this was most of our top five list.

So we are not gonna be the ubercrafter or ubercombat or uberhybrid class that some of you hoped for. We are still not probably gonna be close to on par with Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths.

But then I didn't become a DE to be uber. I came to make droids.

Smells like a victory to me.

Maybe Runesabre does "get it" as you say, but we've had smoke blown up our rear ends since launch, I'm of the mindset that it's all useless rhetoric until actual changes are made to the game... Rune can talk it up all he wants, but until those fixes and utility modules/droids are actually implemented, I'll quote JustG: "Talk is cheap."

And the majority of the SWG player base would like to give the "purest" craftswomen DEs a heart-felt THANK YOU for preventing high-level combats from getting into game play, at the moment. The game would have been much less FUN had we gotten combat droids. Again, thank you and the rest of the purest gals.

Thank you for WHAT?

Not Listening to a single word over the last 5 months?

Trying to jam the same crap down our throats you did 3 months ago when you hung sintros out to dry?

Gracing us with hmm we havea Droid Eng prof?

Waking up this morning?

Putting off fixes to the prof for another 3 months?

Totally ignoring months of work you asked us to do.

And magically coming to the board to say ow gee after 300 negative responses we arent going to go with the really stupid plan we came up with, for now?

It will take us 3 months to vary it a little so we can buy 3 more months of stalling?

Get real, and why would you thank this idiot for doing his job EXTREMELY poorly i might add.

Some times i really wonder what people are thinking,

Seriously what are you thanking him for??????

Do you not remeber the exact same load of crap that sin had to tell us?

Isnt this exactly the same thing?

And we should be thankful they arent going to do it after being told no for the SECOND TIME?
