Thread: Droid Report: What's being done about this....Invasion?!?
I think some feedback is needed if there's things in Sod's Hybrid DE proposal that needs refining. Right now, nobody knows what issues the DEV's have with it that need to be addressed.

The silence from Devland is awful....communication needs to be a 2 way thing. TK suggest they are considering the Hybrid proposal..would it really hurt for them to come here and say so?

Probably be more likely for TK to get permission to bring us a list of issues on the proposal than see a red name post.
I have to get this off my chest.... Everyone that cried about "we're just crafters" or the "we dont wanna fight, thats not what we do" Those are the ppl we can all blame... I would have been prefectly happy with a DH profession as an extention to the DE prof. we all could have been master artisans/master DE/master DH and still had points left over for merchant or something else.
Now granted my DE is only my alt, but he's my moneymaker... my sugar daddy... he keeps me going on my main. But c'mon now... we should have new chassis,I got tells ALL night for a new super probot, or one of those from the wallpaper. SOE greatly dupe'd alot of us when they did that.. I knew we weren't going to get battle droids, but R units with saws? how stupid is this?? My guildies and I had "battle bots" last night outside our starport with r3's taking it on, while we all placed bets! I fell out of my chair cuz I was laughing so hard when I saw them fight!!!!
probots...oooooh mine have 1083/1100 and 550/550 with armor 6 it hits for 153-161 at .73 sec. It got taken down in 5 hits by a famba where before it could hold its own.
YAY BLL now can have stuff in them!!! big fricken deal....so what..... was that a major concern? well after reading past threads... you all 8itched and moaned about something as trivial as that... who cares! give us something else.... something big, mean, nasty, not the fact that "ooooh we can put stuff in it now!!"
Most of the DE's that post in here are all sheep.... you could be getting ass raped by a 900 lbs gorilla, but if someone from sony came by and said "hey mr DE guess what? the LE is going to have sparklers next patch!!" and the DE getting raped replies "WOW, this gorilla aint so bad no more.... SPARKLERS!!"
Point is.... they SNOWED all of you... and your all taking it!
Management at places of employment do this to everyone all of the time, think about it
The governtment did it from the war to nipplegate and we all fell for it... we say whats right at that given time, we don't look at the big picture. We still suck.... But just wait!!! next patch!! entertainer modules!!!! ooooooh aaahhhhhh tha means this... every entertainer will buy 1 droid.... that 1 droid will last forever, and if you make it with all the modules/bells/whistles that you can, then guess what? you lost a customer
Why? they only need 1.... no one need 5 droids.... unless they are for storage.. again... still screwed
I would like to know.......what happened to being able to set the color on an astromech droid chassisjust before the last step when you actually create it (which we all know never worked to begin with)?? Was it so bugged they just removed it, or did they just forget to put it back in there?
Indeed, combat droids are a pickle. The Advanced R3 chassis are virtually impossible to keep up with orders for, because they have to be made from crated items that are made from crated items, etc. The highest I've gotten out of a combat droid so far is an adv R3 with a combat rating of 450, HAM of 1649, Attack power of 111-140. That's par for the course for a CL10 pet.
Also a new bug that I"ve already reported. ALL Probots spawn the first time out of inventory with only a 20% armor rating. When you store them the first time, and pull them back out, the armor rating goes up to 40% This is a pain to explain to 50 customers you have on back order, so I try and explain it to them in advanced, but the gripe still comes up anyway.
I said this in another thread, but I've already heard strong indications that the high level droids are coming out in a future publish. Droidekas, Battledroids and Super Battledroids, everything that, imo, is being TESTED by the devs right now in the Corellian Corvette dungeon. I don't believe they should give these high level droids to just anyone to use, because that would unbalance the game to the utmost extreme, and make a lot of MCHs angry, because it would make CH obselete. Think about it....someone who is brand new to the game has only to get oh, 200K for a droideka (or whatever we would charge), this hypothetical person has no real combat exp yet, but is walking around with a battledroid that has a 12K HAM, 60% resists and can hit for 300-500 damage. What's wrong with that picture?
It would be like a non-CH walking around with a level 50 rancor.
I think the high-level droids should be given to the DEs (that would be my wish, personally), or create a profession for controlling anything above CL10.
I won't even get into how the experimentation nerf has affected DE, but they are fixing that today, so no need to comment on it.
The DEs are certainly getting more attention right now (I sold a lot of crafting droids along with combat models when people visited my vendor), but I agree with a previous poster, some things are great and some things need to be addressed, pronto. The armor types being obselete is one. The other is all the R2, R3 and R4 units not being allowed to have crafting modules inserted into them. What happened with that?!?!? They really need to fix that QUICK. My best selling crafting droids can no longer be manufactured (Adv R2s)!!!!

TK dropping tent neccessity for pulling a vehicle droid i wouldnt consider a de change, giveing droid stims finally and in the same swing making that said droid TOTALLY useless against basic mobs i wouldnt consider something done for de. Unless the nerf is a benefit.
The droid invasion should be renamed to TheDroid Engineer invasion and i hope you have KY youll need it.

I am so upset with this patch and the lie's that proceeded it... The Arch and Ch got more out of this patch than we did.
I don't even want to log into the game at this point as after last night and all the tells I had to answer. I play this game for fun NOT to listen customers complaining....
IMHO the best thing we can do at this point is either give up the DE profession or just give up the game. If we get enough people to do this the DEV's will start to pay attention. I hate to point this out but u have failed... Please do us all a favor and instead of Kissing ***** just resign your position. If u and all other players that have contact with the dev's would do the same maybe we would get somewhere.

Getting the GOOD resourses to make products is what really takes time. What we now have is 12 new RARE resourses required. More than we had prior to this patch. The reality here is that it is going to take lots of DE's 3 to 6 months to get all these resourses. Well unless u were on test and knew pre patch what exactly is needed... then u have a month or 2 jump on all the rest of us DE's that do not play test.
The producers of this game have there own inside schedual and really do not care at all about droids or us DE. Heck I have read over an over how they said they don't even like to read this board as it is so negative. If the producers of this game really wanted to so something for us they would have by now. They lied OUTRIGHT TO US starting last Oct when we were promised us the "Droid Invasion" in Jan.
U do know why the Armor Mods were nerfed... Basically so we could not compair the old to the new. Never in the history of this game that I am aware has this type of thing been done to any other trade in the game. I.E nerf every droid in the game that has ever been made with Armor Mods. Why are they even called armor mods now? Heck they are nothing but at best 20% resist mods.
Add all this up including the deceptive Wallpaper that was put out and what do u have ONE BIG LIE. I personally would not be surprised if a class action law suite does not occur over this. I know personally I would have given up the DE trade last OCT if I had NOT been promised this so called Droid Invasion.
What does it all add up 2? Well lets see... DE profession is royal screwed and it at best will take 3 to 6 more months for them to fix things if they work on it. But then again the Space Expansion is due out so mabye in a year or so....
Please don't take this as a personal attack on YOU. I know from reading how much u have tried to help us and it is not your falt things did not work out u are just talking to death ears and there is REALLY nothing that is going to be done for us to bring us up to par with other trades... It is just impossible at this time. Heck there has already been a post on what is coming out in PUBLISH 8... woot 10 new mods [and how many more rare resourses] for the ent class and some new barking mods for Merchants.

I'm sure many of you had the experience I did where you were struck dumb after creating your first combat equipped Probot and examined it and realized that after putting level six armor on it that it would be quickly trashed in any encounter. Apparently the completely arbitrary and illogical restrictions on droid armor were not enough for the developers. Now my best combat droid with my best armor shows up with nothing but 40% resists where I used to have medium armor with 40% resists. Ironically, for those who don't know, you used to get the same armor ratings on a probot whether you used level 4, level 5 or level 6 armor.
Again it seems that the developers are determined that no droid will ever surpass one of their beloved pets. When it appeared that droids might be made viable by the addition of some real combat capability, some faction in the developers decided that would "unbalance" the game and nerfed them all over again. Not only did they nerf the new droids, though, they also nerfed all the old droids.
I'm pretty much at the end of my patience here. I waited a long time in the hopes that SOE would get its act together and start responding to customer feedback in some kind of constructive manner, especially about the droid engineer profession since that's the one I like. SOE apparently is incapable of understanding that Star Wars is not EverQuest and that most of us play SWG rather than EQ because we don't want to play EQ.
I've made numerous appeals in these forums, trying to explain what I think are some fundemental differences between droids and creatures that should be reflected in the game. At almost every turn, though, the developers have chosen to reuse the same ideas developed for pets and apply them to droids. Droids are mechanical. Mechanical devices have both advantages and limitations compared to living creatures. Droids should be more resistent to damage than creatures but should be unable to heal themselves without repair kits. Creatures have the ability to heal naturally but they are inherently more fragile than something made of steel. Droids should be utterly fearless in combat since they should only have a limited sense of self-preservation. Creatures, on the other hand, should flee if they are in mortal peril unless specially trained for combat. There's a lot more that could be said, but I think that gives the general idea.
I doubt I'll be playing this game much longer. I pretty much hang around now only because of my friends in the game and my column and that's not enough to keep my playing when every time we get an update that is supposed to improve the game for my profession it makes things worse.

That said, keep up the good work. It is your job to keep a level head and work with the devs, not against them. It is everyone else's job to scream bloody murder, spam fansites with the fact that the devs just once again made creatures trump droids in every way, wonder aloud to anyone that will listen whether this is SWG or the EQ2 beta, and just generally attempt to appeal to the only group that the devs seem to care about at all: potential future customers.
Overall, I think the damage control that happened yesterday went pretty well.
TK, can we get a general idea to which proposal they are leaning towards that would be acceptable to them? How about a list of things they have problems with about the proposal?
