If you haven't seen todays patch notes for the Test Center, I suggest you take a moment to look them over.
Under the heading Professions: Droid Engineer, you will see a cryptic one line entry
- Increased droid battery duration
Well, according to my sources, a vast improvement in the power storage technologies has occured, resulting in a power boost to all droids. Instead of the 1 hour charge time that we have had for the past months, a droid will now last for approximately
4 Hours.![]()
I'm running a test right now to verify, but by all calculations, a standard droid will now last 4 hours between battery charges.

yup, I saw this and I think its real nice. One of the complaints was that you have to feed droids a battery every 1 hour.. it gets to be a pain even for myself.
Would be cool if they alsoadd an "extra life" battery (maybe to master artisan).. it would last allot longer even more than 4 hours, but the battery is more expensive to make.

Good news, though...

Definitely nice. And it really shouldn't slow our battery sales down too much...

This change, along with the change to Group mission pay outs, will bring people back to using droids.

There will be many that cry nerf over the change for a while, but it is one of those things that needs to happen.
There are too many credits coming into the economy and not enough going out. This leads to higher priced goods, which leads to people running more solo missions, and so on and so forth.
Once the mission payouts drop, prices will slowly drop down for many of the goods such as Armor and Weapons.
Right now is the perfect oppurtunity for the Droid Engineering Community to take charge of the situation that we have with pricing, compared to other professions.
I highly recommend that everyone try to stay around the pricing that they have set now. If the Droid Engineering Community can try and agree to stay at the current prices, while other markets lower their prices, we may be able to come out of this economic change fairing better then we did during the solo missions.

/aims carbine between neinnunb's legs and pulls the trigger ever-so-softly
The last thing we need is a Master Artisan making parts for DE's!!!
This would be a nice lvl 4 or Master DROID ENGINEER crafted item though........

Dunno if this idea has ever been brought up but why can't you say... load up a droids inventory with batteries and have the droid re-charge itself if a single battery was found in its inventory. Maybe it can't uncrate a battery but if a single is in there and power hits 0 let it pull a charge off.

Honestly....when I first read this, I thought, "Why?"
It's not as if batteries are needed all that much anyway. Sure, for the odd situation now and again but for the most part, I don't even need/use them.
I guess it's nice to see a change...I just wish it could be something that mattered more. /shrug

Respectfully,
Its great for me, I can go thru like 3 batteries aday dancing sometimes, assuming the 4 charge variety. My combat droids with auto-heal on drain in 20-30 minutes, sometimes not even lasting a full fight before I have to pull them out, recharge, and send them back. Now you can tell your merchant clients that they dont need to constantly babysit and recharge thier barkers, they can park them somewhere and actually go about thier business and leave thier droid to advertise for them. Honestly while spammers annoy the crap out of me, droids barkers seem somewhat fitting. Also nice for harvest droids as you don't have to be constantly storing and calling them or recharging them.
