How about just telling us if the change is retroactive to batteries built before the patch.

Rather than force everyone to test it out for themselves...

Sheesh!

Many people perhaps don't use droids at all because having to feed them batteries all the time is a pain.

Raise the price!

this is a change we've been talking about since it hit TC. here is the thread:

This is something I personally have been looking for for a long time, and am happy to see it. Customers ask for it, DEs have asked for it, and we finally got it, thanks. Now please change Customization Kits back to 200 calls? I'm pretty sure no one asked for that to be changed.

Anyone know if we have to make factory runs after the publish fix on duration, or will batteries I make now will last 4 times longer after the publish?

Since all batteries last the same amount of time regardless of experimentation, resources, etc., I'm 99% sure that ALL batteries, whether they are crafted pre- or post-patch, will have the new duration. In other words, the duration of any given battery is not a property of that battery - it's a property of all batteries. Change one and you change them all.

Given past post-patch behavior, I imagine a battery pulled out of a crate after the change at least would get the new bonus.

Well i guess being only a crafter and using only crafting droids and storage i dont see a Battery usage like that, i have 5 droids on my DE account which is also Shipwright and i may use a new battery every 2-3 months, but not very much. If you really use up batteries that fast in the other droids then i can understand that a change is needed.

Ok, Why would a DE want a Battery to last longer? People Continue to buy droids, Batterys are just something they have to have. I see no reason at all to make them last longer. Batterys are cheap and its just a matter of educating your customers. To say people dont buy Droids because they have to have batterys is not right. I am amazed at how long Batteries do last now. Unless you are a Medic they last a long time.

...or a Scout, or an Entertainer, or use an autorepair tank droid...

Between my alt and toons on other servers I use droids for everything I can. When harvesting, the second biggest issue after pulling the droid out and putting it away a lot, is the fact the batteries drain about twice an hour. As an entertainer, nothing bothers me more than having to stop playing music, recharge my Effects droid, and start playing again. It is one more thing to remember when I already have more than I can handle in a given show. Having a concert goer or a patron stop paying attention to my act, and tell me my droid needs a charge.... grrrr.

Based on my experience, and on the feedback from my customers, I agree with Drashk that there are a fair number of people out there that will begin to use their droids more often.

Number 1 complaint by current droid owners - My droid chews through batteries too fast.
There is a large number of people who do not use droids becuase they have to recharge the droid once an hour or less. This change should bring many droid owners back to using their droids for various tasks.

Yep.... I know I'll get myself a new droid after this

Charge more for the batteries if that's it, as long as I don't have to feel like I'm constantly feeding it

Well i think its great. Now if they only fixed it so that my spambot could stay out while i was in space i could actually see a point in using it. Love that im able to travel to all planets again, withouth going into space though.
