Thread: to those DE's that want to be good at combat....you are wrong......
1) Thanks for joing a day late and a dollar short
2) A crafter w/ combat abilities would be aHYBRID profession, which was what the proposal was for, and what the Devs had originally proposed to DE's. That fact is doesnt exist is part of the reason we lobbied for it, ie...it doesnt exist in game, per Runesabre's requirement, it was Unique. Either way, the Devs have said no to the concept last week.
3) If DE's had it their way, every profession would get combat droids worth having, preferably specialized for their profession.

yea, but even in our current state our crafting is probably at least 5 times better than smuggler, and smuggler combat is almost completely worthless without pistoleer.

I can give you one reason why DE's would want to have some combat capabilities added. Its like this: As far as I know, DE is the onlyelite crafting profession that (pretty much) requires the basic profession under it to be mastered. That is, you either have to master Artisan, or resign yourself to buying half the components for your droids. The other elite crafting professions generally onlyrequireone branch of the artisan tree filled up in order to play them effectively. This means that DE'sare using a higher percentage of our skill points juston being DE's. These are skill points that the other elite crafting professions can put into fighting skills of one sort or another. This is why DE's should get a bonus to their fighting skills. Either that, or the schematics that are created by MA's and used almost exclusively by DE's should be moved to the DE novice skill box, so we can drop MA, and Artisan trees 2 and 3... and put those skill points into a fighting profession.
The fact that we have to master Artisan in order to be effective DE's is a handicap that should be, but is not, compensated for. Adding fighting skills to DE would be an easy and effective way of compensating for it.
