Thread: Turning A Combat Rating In To Numbers You Can Sell

I did this after the last patch rolled out, but I haven't had a chance until now to do it for Publish 8. What follows are formulas that you can use to determine the minimum and maximum damagefor each droid based on it's combat rating.

This is mostly theoretical, but the numbers are based on my own research and have been checked for validity against other numbers that have been posted on this board. They seem to hold up.

Also, I haven't tried to figure out the ranges for speed and to-hit yet, because mostly I was looking for a selling point, and while these numbers are vital to the combat ability of any droid, most customers consider them secondary to what the damage of each hit is.

DZ-70 & Probot:

CombatRating / 600 * 95 + 95 = MinimumDamage

CombatRating / 600 * 100 + 100 = MaximumDamage

Example

ADV Probot w/ 500 combat rating

500 / 600 * 95 + 95 = 174

500 / 600 * 100 + 100 = 183

This droidwould have a damage range of about 174 - 183

Astromech droids:

CombatRating / 600 * 80 + 80 = MinimumDamage

CombatRating / 600 * 85 + 85 = MaximumDamage

Example

ADV R3 w/ 600 combat rating

600 / 600 * 80 + 80 = 160

600 / 600 * 85 + 85 = 170

This droid would have a damage range of about 160 - 170

(incidentally, this formula is the same one that was used for the DZ70's and Probots for Publish 7)

LE Repair Droids:

CombatRating / 600 * 45 + 45 = MinimumDamage

CombatRating / 600 * 55 + 55 = MaximumDamage

Example

ADV LE Repair w/ 330 combat rating

330 / 600 * 45 + 45 = 70

330 / 600 * 55 + 55 = 85

This droid would have a damage range of a bout 70 - 85

Summary

Basically, what all this means is that each chassis class (Combat/Astromech/Repair) has a base damage range, or modifier. A combat rating of 1 (which I actually achieved for these tests) gives you that base range. A combat rating of 600, if you were able to achieve it for that droid, would double the damage. So all you have to do is figure out what percentage of 600 you have, multiply that by the chassis modifier, and add the resultto the chassis modifier.

Hopefully this will take some of the mystery out of those combat ratings and allow you to market your droids better. If you find anything wrong with these formulas please feel free to post them, since it's obviously better to have accurate data if people plan to rely on things like this (like I do).

Awesome, I've been wanting something just like this. As I've been readying one out of each run just so I can be complete with the product descriptions. 5 stars for you.

Great post, I agree this will be very useful. All those numbers are just numbers unless you actually know what they mean.

Great post, Orion! I just used your formula on my current crop of 524CR probots, and it was right on the money!

If you decide to do this for speed and "to hit", I've noticed these are based on HAM experimentaion instead of combat rating.

Fantastic job! I have been looking for something like this for a while now. Too bad I did not see this post yesterday, since I just started a new batch of droids. Oh well, I am sure it will be very helpful in the future. Thanks again.

Thank you, very interesting information.

I'm looking for the same kind of info on harvester module, but as I understood it's much harder to figure out.

if that is true, (which i think it is) then the max is as follows (using 1000oq fiberplast for these - exp to 100%)

Probot: .75 speed, .41 to hit
R3 adv: 1.5 speed, .41 to hit

I'm glad you all find this info useful.

I'll take a poke or two at the speed and to-hit numbers soon.... either tonight or tomorrow night, after I get off of work. Of course, if you guys want to do the leg work for me, I'll take care of the actual math... all I'd need is samples of a fully experimented droid and one with the worst values you can manage (crappy materials, maybe even a critical fail ). I'd need at least one pair from each of the chassis classes (Combat/Astromech/Repair). MrWizzard's numbers should be a good starting point.

Of course if anyone wants to beat me to the math I won't complain either...

Great Post Orion!

Very useful, especially when I want to add one combat module to a droid to make it a tank or something, saves you having to waste a droid to find out the stats.

TK, might be an idea to add this to the FAQ.

Good work....Im glad you worked it out, Im really bad at Math
