As a fairly new MDE whats the 'Tank Droid'? What chassis is used and what goes in it?

Thanks

Not sure if there is a uniform meaning of that term, but I tend to think of a "tank droid" as a droid that has minimum combat abilities (just enough combat modules to be able to fight, which for the R3 and LE means 1 combat module, and for the probot means NO combat modules), and is then stuffed to the gills with high quality auto-repair modules.

my personal favorite is an advanced R3 with 1 combat module and 5 autorepair modules.

What Mal said is true.

Basically there are 2 terms for droids that fight. "Combat Droids" which are packed with combat modules and are meant to kill. Then "Tank" droids, which are not meant to kill, just stay alive tanking mobs while you kill.

What do you folks tell your "droid handicapped" customers. I struggle with these types, as it seems my explantions go over their heads as they spam 'MAKE ME THE BEST COMBAT DROID'. I always explain (or try to explain) that they can get combat modules or auto repair modules in the droids. I usually try to see if they want a Probot (better damage output), an R3 (good HAM / decent good damage output), or an LE Repair (low damage / high HAM).

Most of the time I end up sellling 'Combat' R3s with 600 CR. On occasion though some one wants the Probot due to its better damage output.

I also have a question about the Auto Repair Modules. As far as I can tell from testing, the auto repair rating of the droid is how much damage the droid will heal itself every 10 seconds. Is this correct?

On the Auto Repair question, Yes, pretty close.

On the "I want a combat droid" question. My first response is always... "Ok, do you want to kill something, or to distract the enemy while YOU kill it?"

Then if they answer, "Kill something," I reply, well you have 3 "real" choices. The LE, which kills badly, but lives longer. The Probot kills the fastest, yet has the smallest HAM, not bad HAM though. The R3 is the happy medium, kills ok, and has decent HAM.

If they answer "Tank for me," then I just reply, pretty much the same thing. LE has the most HAM, but doesn't repair fast. Probot has the least HAM, but wont take any XP from you at all. R3 has good HAM and repairs fast.

Those sentances seem to get the point across ok.

And am I right in thinking that its the capicity discharge unit that is used to make the droid be able to fight?

No that part is used in Droid Stims. The combat module is what makes a droid able to fight. Except the Probot and Dz70 have an inherent combat ability built in.

Sorry but i'm confussed. Are you talking about the combat capable socket cluster? I have droids with that installed, but with crafting stations in it, but those droids are unable to attack. I'm confussed. As the module above is the only module with 'combat' in the title that I can find in the list.

You want the Droid Combat Module. The Combat-Capable Socket Cluster is just a cluster that can hold 3 modules, it has no effect on the droids combat abilities.

OH MY GOD. I see it now How sad is that, All this time I've never seen that module and yes i'm always in front of a crafting station.

New question, how many of these can you have in a droid?

Thanks

They stack, so you can place as many in a droid as the droid can hold. For example:

Adv R3 = 6 (3 in each of the 2 combat-capable socket clusters)

Adv R2 =5 (3 in combat-capable socket cluster, 2 in module slots)

Adv Probot = 5 (same as Adv R2)

I have one question about Probots. I know they have a built in combat ability and they seem to hit for one point of damage when fighting with no combat modules installed. So your a Novice TKA lets just say. You send your droid and he start hitting for his 1 point of damage and is healing himself, then you come in and start hitting away for your 300, 400, points of damage per hit. Since your hitting for more will not the mob focus on you or will it still stay focused on your droid? I always thought that the higher damage dealer gets the attention of the Mob.
