Thread: After reading a few post I was wondering......

Pretty sure it was intentional to make combat droids up to CL 30. I have a feeling they will have to do some balance changes if they allow anything higher than that. I mean heck, Creature Handlers can only handle up to CL 70...
Since Publish 18 the maximum Combat Level a Droid can be is 30. Now whether this was intended is unknown but there has been no hint from SoE that this will be changed. But whats new.
Currently, if you add 1 combat module and 1 level 4 module (may have to be real good) you will get level 30. The armor starts off high and then drops down to 1217 after the first call. This coincides with normal creature levels (Bio Engineer created ones anyway). Could be unintended but again no fix as of yet.

If Creature Handlers can handle Creatures of up to Level 70, why can't a DE make a Level 70 Combat Droid? Aside from the Level 30 restriction, of course.Message Edited by HesDeadJim on 08-30-2005 10:05 PM
But who would then use this CL70 Droid? It wouldn't be Creature Handlers, and it can't be 'everyone'.

But DEs are crafters, not combat.

Now the circle is complete.....
This the same circular arguement that has been occuring since the days of Sintrosi. If you don't know who 'she' is, don't worry too much about it. Lets just say its an old arguement.
Back and forth the same point and counter points have gone, so I will give a simple break down of where things last stood on this debate....
- Make the Droids DE only (senario 1)
- Adding combat to a crafting profession would unbalance the nature of being a crafting profession
- But combat professions have some crafting
- None of those professions are based on a single line of a single base profession
- Then increase the requirements of DE
- How?
- Respecs
- It can't be offered to a single profession. It would have to offered to everyone in the game.
- Give combat Droids to everyone, without a cost.
- This would remove the balance system that is already in place and would force people to use combat droids
- How would if force people to use the droid?
- If the droid was of a significant CL, then it would help to tip the scale of balance in PvP.
- But CHs can use CL70 pets
- CHs have also spent 106 Skill points to be able to do this.
- Tie the CL of the droid to the Level of the toon
- See above. It would still be a 'must need droid' situation to be able to compete.
- Create a cert system where only low CL would be able to use the high CL droids
- This creates a self limiting system where only the minority of SWG players would be able to use the droids.
There are a number of other points that have been tossed around, but I think it helps to show where things last stood.
For each comment made, there is always a point against, untill the entire debate colapses in on itself.
/emote waits for someone to make a counter-points against all three listings.

That's right. The community has been back and forth on these points over and over. I myself have ardently argued one or more positions. They lead to the same conclusion in my mind: Droid Handler profession. It's the only way to get highlvl combat Droids in game, and some of you know exactly how much I hate to say it.
So I say give me DH and droidekas!

Or revamp the Creature Handler class, so high-level droids can be added to their mix.
