So CHs are a combat profession. So what? Why shouldn't a DE be able to use Level 70 Combat Droids? They spent 106 points, well let's spend 106 points, too! Why not?

Isn't smuggler the only "combat" profession to have crafting now though? I mean you really can't call BE a combat profession...and I really don't think smuggler counts as a crafting profession (no offense to the smugglers).


And if that's the case...there's even less argument for DE's to be combat.

Ranger, Smuggler, and Jedi all have some crafting tied into their professions. With the exception of Jedi, the Experimentation isn't used.


The issue here is that in order to give Droid Engineer combat abilities, some of the crafting abilities would need to be removed, such as completely removing experimention in even more components.


The requirements needed to Master DE would also need to be changed. All of the Combat profession Master boxes now require some sort of XP in order to gain the Master Box, not to mention the fact that the entire profession is based on Crafting XP, yet Ranger, Smuggler, and Jedi are all dependent on Combat Related XP.

They made some pretty neat changes to the Doctor in the CU, but that profession is no longer a crafting profession. They'd really need to dumb down DE crafting to make it a hybrid combat profession, which I am no longer in favor of. Making DE more like BE would be better. Speaking of, those BE guys really have it good now: they can craft high end pets, stims and other medical stuff, and tailor's need their components to make skill clothing. I'm sure they still have their bugs, but I wish DE was as essential as BE.
