Hello Droid Engineer community.... I'm a MBH and just in search ofan answer to a simplequestionreally. I'm looking for a droid that is the best possible tank. I don't know the specifics of your profession, modules, types, etc. But what I'd like to know is which droid should I get if I want one that will stay alive the longest? Damage output doesn't matter to me...in fact I dont care if it does any at all.

So, what type of droid should I ask for and what/how many modules should I ask be put in?

P.S. - if there's any Ahazi DE's reading this and willing to do a special order, or if you already have what i'm seeking in stock, let me know.

Thanks all,

Thrasia

What you need to buy is a Probot, it has the best damage output and has the largest HAM's (by far) of any other droid out there. They are simply the best tank, make sure you get level 6 armor plating for 40% resists to all attacks.

So even if I dont care about how much damage the droid puts out, the probot is still the best tank? An R3 or Repair droid isn't going to last longer than a probot with any other combo of modules?

No, no, no. That's terrible advice. You either want an LE repair (max 6000 ham, two or three modules, not sure which) or an R3 (max 4500 ham). If you don't mind hauling crates of batteries round with you and using them all the time then get an R3 with 1 combat module and either 5 auto-repair modules or 4 auto-repair modules and a standard repair module (to heal wounds). Also make sure you pick up some repair kits, for emergencies.

So there's no 1 definitive answer to this? LE repair droid or R3?

Its either/or. I guess it depends on the DPS of the stuff you will be fighting. The Auto-Heal modules are nice, but even 5 of them wont be able to keep up with more than a couple hundred damage per second. But the LE Advanced only gets 3 modules, so the 2 Auto-Heal you could put in there will heal significantly less.....but its HAM in in the vicinity of 6k, where the R3 is aaround 4500. SO its a balance. YOu need 1 combat modules in there so it can attack. No matter what, get a lot of Droid Repair kits so you can Stim its damage while it fights.

A small note to add to this, combat capable droids do NOT need a combat module to engage in combat. They will do minimal damage if any and not cut into the XP your earning.

While the LE Repair chassis can obtain the highest amount of HAM, it can only hold 3 modules and may not be able to keep itself alive long against powerful critters. It also is only capable of melee attacks so it will be in the thick of things taking a beating.

The Probot holds 5 modules and has a ranged attack. If you can take down your quarry quick enough, it can hold off the critters long enough for you to kill them.

So it's really a balance of your playstyle vs. what you want the droid to do for you.

You have your facts wrong, as well as not understanding the original poster's question. If he doesn't care about damage and just wants a tank, he should get an LE repair droid, which does the least damage but has the highest HAM. The Probot has the lowest HAM (ca. 3200) of the three major types of combat droids (R3, Probot, LE) and does do the most damage, but he said he doesn't care about that.

Yes, but in this case Thrasia does not appear to be concerned about experience. The R3 will last longer than a probot because it has higher ham and the same number of free slots after one slot is used for a combat module. One other aspect to consider in the R3 vs LE repair saga - the LE repair is melee only and slow moving, so if you are a ranged combatant the R3 will probably be the better choice.

Definately the R3 Droid. As noted above, it has the same number of slots as the Probot for AutoRepair and has a higher HAM. I recently made a LE repair droid to replace my own Probot b/c i was suckered in by the higher HAM. To my dismay it got its butt kicked much faster than the Probot. I ended up just deleting it from my datapad.

By the way i forgot to mention that the highest resist level for a droid is 20% not 40%. The 40% you see when examining the droid is a bug. Using two Level 4 armors will suffice to reach this. You dont need the Level 6 armor (with the composite armor segment).

on a side note: the best resists a droid can have is 20%. it is true that most all high end combat droids report 40% resists in the /examine window, but it isn't correct. Any droid that reports 40% resists is bugged. The actual cap on resists for a droidis 20%.

4500 is the maximum HAM on the R3? Mine always caps off at 4455. Maybe it's just the resources I'm using. hmmm.
