Thread: Safe to stack med modules?

I made a droid last night and put twomedical modules in it so thatit has a medical rating of 110. Is this a safe practice, or is this something that has been indicated as being on animpendingnerf list? I don't want to sell my customers anything that is likely to lose it's usefulness soon.

Currently have no idea. I figured that out about halfway through my career and it boosted sales till i got Master Droid engineer. Only drawback is for adv surgical droid... You have to use a general socket cluster if you want to add a food/chem crafting station with it as well.

This is a good question. I have been stacking med modules for a while now but I worry it might go away. I would assume that this is correct functionality and would continue to work this way but I have been burned before by assumptions like that in this game. I guess only a dev could truly answer this unless someone has seen a quote from them I haven't about how it is suppose to work. Maybe we should add this to our list of bugs as a question?

Makes it hard not to exploit when you don't know if it's working as designed. I'm betting this is not as intended, based on some of the the reports of stacking storage modules for 125+ storage space. Unfortunately, I don't see a way to find out if this is as intended. Maybe the correspondant could ask?

In these cases, when I'm not sure if something will go away, I inform the customer of how it is now but add that the capability could be removed.

Case in point - I had a customer a week or so ago buy several data droids to store creatures. Now, that is going (or is already gone) away. Luckily, my customer was understanding and didn't do anything crazy like demading his money back.

..........level 6 med module IS 110 rating....what are you stacking? If you're stacking LESS than level 6 to get to 110, i'm pretty darn sure that's not working as intended, as that would eliminate the need for a level 6 module.

hmm...as anything below level 5 is basically simple and VERY VERY cheap to make, i'd have to say yeah, that's very much not working as intended, if you can stack low level modules to get the same rating as a level 6 med module, which is far more expensive to make than a level 4 module.

I think that the stacking up to level 6 is working as intended - keep in mind that with the current droid calling restrictions, most people like to have 'everything' in one package. If you stack modules you eliminate the possibility of adding a different type of module into that same droid.

The only problem currently is the socket cluster module bug that allows stacking ad infinitum - you really CAN put everything in a droid with this AND stack it too.

If this bug did not exist though, I think this is an appropriate balance - I can make adv. mousey for a medic with either 2 medical modules to get it to 110, or 1 L4 medic module for 85 and a food/chem station.

I don't see any logic (like the devs are ever logical) in making this 'by design' as it eliminates the uniqueness of level 6 modules. I see your point about all-in-one droids, and limited space, but it's still illogical to think that it would be a good design, as the level 2 modules that you state get you up to level 6 effectiveness are cheaper to make than dirt. It requires no specifiic resources, no memory modules, no gp modules, nothing at ALL that suggests it should be remotely possible to make it of the same value as a level 6 module, even though you are stacking 2. making 2 is (cost-wise) equivelant to making less that 1 gp module.

think about that, am I making sense? to me, it does, but I could be getting my point across badly

The logic is.. if you use 2 slots you have one less slot to use on something else. Where the logic fails is the exploitable nature of module clusters.

I believe stacking medical modules is the design, you can either have 1 medical modle at lvl 6 and a food crafting station on a 2 module droid or you can have 2 lvl4s at the loss of being able to put in a crafting modules. Now if mutlpile crafting modules were working there would be more a benefit to choosing a lvl 6 over 2 lvl 4s.

the trade off is diversity in a single droid.. Unless the devs says other wise i don't see a logical explaination to why its an exploit. So i'll still stack 3 lvl2 medical modules for 100 effectives in an Adv r4 unit, how ever they don't get a food/chem crafting modules with it.. which is there trade off.. at my pricing schemes 3 lvl 2 modules are cheaper then one lvl 4 module.. its cheaper but they have less divisity in a single droid. Well will be once i can make lvl 4s

I will only use the clusters on the cluster slots.. i think thats an exploit so i wont try and exploit that..

wow, med modules stack, this is definitaly going to increase sales on advanced frames, thx for the tip guys.

And btw if the poster sead he/she was stacking 2 modules for 110 skill they were probibly stacking 2 level 1 med modules which i too make at 55 skill each.

Nope they don't stack like that..

1x Lvl2 = 65 eff
2x Lvl2 = 75 eff
3x Lvl2 = 100 eff

I can not figure out the math behind that.. but i sell adv r4's with 3 lvl2 for those that want an effectivness of 100,

I thought the level 1 med module only gave you a 35 rating?

This is not working as intended, as Medical 6 Modules would not be there. Also defeats the purpose of being a Master DE if every novice DE can stack Medical Modules 1s and get a 110 rating. Its an exploit.
