Thread: Hand crafting is punishing

Well, I like punishment, I'm a masochist. Why else would I be a DE. However I didn't realise how punishing it is to build a droid completely by hand.

Yesterday as I was waiting on a factory run of advanced droid brains, I decided to hand build an Advanced R3 for my own use. Level 6 armor, storage, data, a weapon, droid and general crafting station, a structure crafting station and a repair module. I had to build every item by hand bar a couple of the factory required components.

Half an hour passes and I am ready to do the final combine. Critical failure. OMG. Lol. I was laughing so hard I almost had a hernia. Anyway not to let the game beat me. I did it all again. After about a total of an hour I had a new droid.

What I learnt? Crates are a DE's best friend. Then more crates. And some more for good measure. Umm set up more factories and do more crates. Get a friend to run some crates for you in his factory. Buy some crates from other DE's. Ask for crates from Santa. And when you think you have enough crates, do more runs of crates. Make crates until it hurts. Then do crates of the droids themselves. Ask the devs if we can make a droid that makes droids for us.

I don't really like dogs but crates are a man's best friend.

Custom orders? Sure why not I'm up for some punishment

Well i usually hand craft ones for my guildies. Im always getting custom orders from them. I dont mind it really, i like the idea of sitting at my workbench building droids (not simply designing). Plus i feel like droids just arent selling well enough to justify a factory run. But hey if you got other stuff to take care of, then your right it can be very time consuming.

Its just out of whack with other craftables imo, I just think they should balance things out alittle. Why can we hand craft vehicles in like a minute with 2 lumps of metal?

I had the same thing happen to me. Nearly pissed myself I was so stunned that all those componants and resources went POOF!

I've found that the only way to really be practical about making droids is to do factory runs of all of the subcomponants (motive systems, brains, sensors, manipulators arms, modules, etc...). I'll also do factory runs of advanced frames of the droids that are most popular like R3s and probots. Cluster modules and final product (deed) combines are the only thing I'll so by hand anymore. Crit fails happen, that's just part of being a crafter in this game, but at least the way I'm doing it, it takes like 5 minutes to recreate the droid you intended to make. The only exception I make to this is if I have a particular type of droid configuration that is really popular like R4s with medical and item modules, food crafting stations and armor. I've factory run those because I can sell them nrealy endlessly.

Good question.... Why DOES it take only two lumps of metal to make something as complex as a vehicle?

Only one answer comes to mind.... "Laziness in the SWG Design Shops".

Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

I did an LE Advanced Droid last night almost from scratch to test out if he woould really work or not. I understand what you mean. If I didn't have 6 crafting tools it would have been unbearable.

I would like see crates set up with optional builds (25, 50, 100, 250, etc ) or just set them up for the absolute max of a 1000. This way you can split them however you want.

I need more crates. Decided to put up another factory as things were taking too long with just the one.

Dear Santa,

For Christmas I'd like some crates of droid engineering parts.

........

Don't tell me Santa doesn't exist. Thats what my mom said. I still don't believe her.

I like crates.

Dear Santa,

I would like new Devs who will not only hear us but actually LISTEN. Oh and battle droids too.

Ive seen a petition to increase the crate capacity, which is an excellent idea, especially for us.

Heh, My first build other than probes and seekers was an LE. I wanted to see how bad it really was. Took me 45 minutes for my 1st build, I didn't even call the thing. Sat down, /logout, brought my combat char on.

Now, I'm running crate, after crate, after crate and I'm on the verge of getting my first large home for the storage

If I may suggest...don't waste your lots with a large house if you are using it for storage. Here's the math:

Large House: Six lots, holding 250 items
Med/Small House: Two lots, holding 150 items

Just setup a bunch of small houses. You hold more items and it costs you less lots.

factories are the best. they take one lot and hold 100 items each.

OMG, i never thought of that. Be careful tho something that good (ie too good to be true) is prolly on the verge of nerfdom and/or exploit status
