The Correspondents were informed that to conpensate for the Lot cost of MP ships, Guild Halls and Structure Factories will be dropping in cost.

We should be getting a patch on Tuesday that will lower the Guild Hall cost to 7 lots and Structure Factories to 1 lot. The lots won't update until the next maintenance cycle, so we might not see a real change to the lots until Wednesday.

We were given a heads up on this one and told that it was a quotable, so I figured I'd share it with all of you.

Thanks Drashk. That's good news. But I'm a little fuzzy on what the final answer was on lot usage for the POBs. I've seen it written that every POB requires 1 lot, and also seen it written that the first POB would be lot free. Only >1 would require lots. Do you know what the final outcome to this was?

To clear it up for everyone....

The following ships will each take up 1 Lot to use, since each has the ability to store up to 75 items.

  • YT-1300

  • VT49

  • YKL-37r

  • Sorosuub 3000

The DEVs had to create a balance system to compensate for the fact that each of the above ships can house up to 75 items. You can have up to 2 POB ships in your datapad at any given time.

Drashk, is there no way they can issue a check to see if the ship is even decorated (holds items) before they deduct a lot? I would like to have a MP ship (that I have no desire to decorate ATM), but it won't be possible, as I need all the lots I've got to run harvs, shop, factories, etc...

Thanks Drashk. Since I have no lots available, I guess I won't bother with any of these POBs then. /shrug

It basically comes down to ease of programming at this point. It is easier put the Lot restriction on the ship when it is added to the datapad, then to set up a 'IF' statement.

I'd think that there would be too many varibles that would have to go into setting it up differently. Things like, what happens if someone has 0 lots and tries to drop an item on a POB ship? or What happens if someone picks up all of the items within a POB shiip? There would also have to be exclusions to the IF statements.

Might as well just suggest to them to increase everyone's lot allocatment by +1. Their own veteran reward ship will take up a lot to claim and quite simply too many people prolly don't have a single lot to spare. When enough vets complain about giving them a reward they can't use without adversely affecting their ground activities, they should grasp the situation.

Course, it's easier to be proactive and save the whining imo.

Maybe they can include something later? I understand it may be a little late to get this in for launch, but it seriously hinders crafters from having MP ships. I don't use either a PA hall or Structure Factories, so the lot change does nothing for me (and, presumably, the majority of crafters).

Just wait until lot sharing gets nerfed.

Everything comes down to a cost in this game. It all comes down to the checks and balances system. If things did not come at a cost, then there wouldn't be a challenge to the game and even less people would play it.

But I am a bit fuzzy on the lots. will houses go down at all? and the Tat Guild is already at 7 do you know if it will drop below that?

Tat Guild Halls are staying the same. The suggestion to drop the lot costs on Large Houses has also been made, so we will have to wait and see about that one.

I guess this means I won't be using my veteran ship on my DE character then. I can't afford to waste another lot, already have 2 for medium houses, 2 for factories, 1 for my shop, which leaves me 5 for my harvesters. Bah.

Thanks for the info though.

Drashk, this makes sense, however, we are paying for an expansion. This isn't new, free, content being added to this game. We are being asked to sacrifice something we currently have (lots) in order to use new content that we are paying for. I understand there are checks and balances, but some quarter needs to be given to those of us who are giving SOE additional money for the expansion.

Pretty much. How can SOE'reward' veteran players with an item that potentially forces them to sacrifice what they already own in order to claim it? The simplest solution with the least potential for upsetting the balance: JTL enabled accounts have +1 lots to accomodate for the multi-passenger ships that require a lot.
