We are engineers, YUP, we are artisan based YUP, PRIOR to becomming the new profession Droid engineer...

it is at that moment we cease being pure artisans , and become a whole new profession, able to create what we choose...

I will break this down for some of the readers so they can better understand what it appears they fail to grasp for whatever their reason or lack of ability to do so.

here.. lets pick on a few Professions... no I am not going to compare apples to oranges, I am going to point out some flaws in many peoples thinking patterns, so they can open thier minds to a better understanding, this is my hope...

Creature Handler it is NOT a COMBAT PROFESSION.. no where in the scout sub tree does it have any involvement with combat they need to learn howthe skin, bones, meat of a creature work so they better understand the flesh they will be controlling, and they need to learn to mask scent to get past the parents of the creature they wish to enslave the baby of as well as knowing how to run like hell when they fail and are noticed... once successfull the the baby grown, theSLAVE they raised becomes a tool, a simple tool that obeys their commands...if they choose to use it to fight it will, it will also stand on its head, and dance around. if they can tame it they can use it.

Combat Medic is NOT a COMBAT PROFESSION ( its even misslabeled ) no where in any part of the 2 sub trees have this profession at completion requireing a weapon. They need MEDIC to learn how to make, and use healing medicins, as well as Ranged Weapon support abbilities NOT becuase they need to use a weapon, they need these to learn how to properly judge distance, and learn how to better deffend from incomming attacks, they are a medic and need to know how to avoide incomming danger, The combat exp they need can just as well come from throwing stun traps on creatures other people are fighting.. I suspect if baseball was a novice profession, they would have had to learn that, instead of ranged support.. their biohazards they throw, suggest the title of biological warfare expert, hence the poisons they throw are simply a tool, as they can also throw healing at people , if it was a combat skill they would of had a DART GUN to shoot people with heals and harms, but its not, they throw a sandwich bag of goodness or badness, thats all, and in the end if they can make it, they can use it..

Bio Engineer >>> IS <<<a COMBAT PROFESSION, they need scouting for the understanding of the fleash, and they need medic for the understanding of the manipulations of the chemicals they will be using, the completed results can be .. living cloth, living creatures of enhanced characteristics.. replications of a sentiant being by genetic manipulations, but most importantly, when they move up to their prey, and extract part of that creatures DNA strand, it dies right there on the spot.. they are cold hearted killers, period. Their methods of becomming a master revolves around the death of a sentient being, and in the end, to make it they have to use it, to use it means death.

Squad Leader is NOT a COMBAT PROFESSION period, no where in its 2 requirements does it revolve around combat itself.. ( yes they labeled it combat exp you need but it should have been named knowledge ) From the Scout profession they need to know how to make CAMPS ( deadly tent watch out ) and akin to the Combat Medic they need to learn how best to avoide incomming attacks, so they can convay this information to the group of people they are leading accross contry. DUE to their NONINVOLVEMENT with combat they can better guide those who follow them to higher levels of ability.. move faster step here, shoot that guy in the butt he sticks it out when he shoots.. move over here it has cover, and the sarge is dead man, lets get the frick out of here. They have skills of knowledge best used to tell other people how to do their jobs more effeciantly as they have the training and knowledge to see the subtle differances in elevation, wind currents, ect ect ect.. to use their skills is to boss people around.

LAST ONE

Droid Engineer is NOT a COMBAT PROFESSION, just like the CH, they must learn Engineering to make the mechanical things they will produce, and to be successfull they also must learn the rest of the artisan tree, like making clothing and learnig how to color them, and foods and basic marketing skills, so that they may move onto their new profession Droid Engieeer.A Droid Engineer simply makes droids, they have knowledge of droid armor ( since they learned to use bone and fiberplast to make simply armor, and later need a armorsmith to make the more serious levels of armor protection, droids as crafting staions since they learned some crafting they know what tools would work ) they make data storage as they have an understanding of how data can be stored in a micochip, they make item storage since they have an understanding of best using a limited space to contain something, they make MEDICAL modules to assist medic type professions minded people on how better to heal, ( I assume they learned this from making food, and to think everyone that uses this module is doing so off the DE's base knowledge of FOOD not Medical anything ) they make repair modules as they have an understanding of how things need to be fixed and can pass this knowledge to a droid to do this work for them. They can make Power droids, as they have the understanding on how to harness masive power sources and add a positive and negitive addaptor for the droid to add power to another doid yet lack the knowledge of how to make such a power source. and finnally since they have a limited knowledge of weapons ( rofl like a architect and armorsmith ) they can mount said weapon into a droid for it to use as well.. now I assume they bigger guns the weaponssmiths could be mounted on a droid, but apparently we dont have the knowledge to make them function .. yet.. in a droid.. but most importantly... let me borrow something from Creature Handler here for a fair compare.. Once successfull the "droid made" the SLAVE they "created" becomes a tool, a simple tool that obeys their commands.. if they choose to use it to fight it will.... if they can create it they can use it.

I could verey well explain the rest of the classes , and do a fundimental breakdown to help explain they reality used in each or the fantasy used in each so I could do each justice.. but in the end I attempted in MY oppionon using the GAME mechanics and rules to better explian some of these missconceptions away for everyones benifit.

IT is NOT IMPORTANT if we are a combat profession or not, what IS IMPORTANT is that we have the knowledge to build, with help of other professions DROIDS, who serve by their programing code, and perform as they are built, unfailingly with one exception, the power they need to do so, a battery.

HARD TRUTHS are not allways the ones we like to hear.. but none the less from a perspective they are the facts we have to deal with , or dilusion ourselves into not wanting to see them

DE need to be able to make combat droids, more of them, for more people, the only limitation needed ( certs ) would be based on general knowledge the player has learned over time ( novice boxes, and master boxes, of begaining professions, and elite professions ) they should be able to use anything they can make, and quite honestly, they should be able tto make A droid type that only they could understand its complexity, superior to what they can sell, and very likely heavly reliant on other professions for the parts they will need.

example Droiddeka..

composit armor layer, and shield generator provided by a armorsmith

weapons made by a weaponsmith

power source provided by an architect

part requirements provided by a master artisan

hell maby even some component from a bio engineer to better understand the fleash and its weakness

food destruction abilities of the chef to better understand how to make permamant wounds.. ( couldnt resist )

like it or not we use what we make, and what is made does as its told, now STOP LIMITING WHAT WE CAN MAKE !

Your logic escapes me...

CH is not a combat profession, but BE is, and they both need the same branch of the scout tree?

the end result to reach master requires the death of a sentient BH

the end result makes a tool that obeys commands and will kill on command CH

BE is more of a combat profession then a CH could ever hope to be

hope this clears things up for you

Interesting post there Gveedo. I don't agree with your view on Combat Medics, since Ranged Weapon support XP must earned during combat.

However, why does a combat class have the ability to craft?

Scouts, Rangers, and Combat Medics all craft items that only they can use.

So, for any to say that DEs shouldn't be able to havea MDE only Combat Droid, please explain to me why a combat class should be allowed to craft?

Don't those combat classes craft tents, traps, and fishing poles specific to their class for use? We already create modules that are class specifically use: the repair module and the crafting station. I'm sure there are others I'm leaving out.

To say just because scouts (rangers) and combat medics craft that we deserve an MDE only combat droid is trying to link two completely unrelated topics. We already make droids that benefit us.

I'm sorry Jaerle, but with the exception of maybe the fishing pole (don't know, never went fishing on Tatooine. And yes I know about the lakes) all of the items that these 3 combat classes craft are ITEMS that only their class can use. Yes, droid engineers can craft modules, but theycan't be used unless place in a droid that anyone can use.Modules are not items, since no benefit is given by a module until it is placed into a droid.

The topic is completely related because itshows that any profession is not defined byits primary function. A combatprofessioncan craft abilities, why can't a crafting profession have combat abilities?

On that topic...I've never understood why non-scouts can't use a basic camp kit. How hard is it to set up a tent and a bench?

But those classes are defined by their primary functions. Scouts and Rangers start off as Novice Scouts, so technically they aren't a combat class although they do need combat skills to help them get by, but it's not technically required.

Combat Medics do have to pick up a gun to gain ranged support pts, but most of their starting profession comes from the medic side. They are technically more medic than combat.

Our entire prereq lies in the artisan tree. Scouts and Rangers come entirely from scout and Combat Medics have 80% of their prereqs from the medic lines.

Calling them all combat classes is stretching it a bit. Now, if one of the pure combat classes had to craft then your argument would be justified. BH can craft, but they're a hybrid class. We're not a hybrid class.

I agree that our prereqs and our current skills are crafting skills, but what I am stating is that for those that state we are nothing more than a crafting profession, they need to take a good look around.

We are currently a gimped crafting profession. Does that mean that DEs will always be a gimped crafting profession? I'm splitting hairs here, but I'm trying to prove a point. Just because we are a 'pure' crafting profession doesn't mean that we are always going to be a 'pure' crafting profession. A large portion of the 'combat camp' are not seeking MDE-only combat droids to compete with CH pets. We, I'm not speaking for everyone but a few will agree wtih me here, are looking for a MDE Combat Droid that is slightly better than a droid that would be certed to a Combat Profession, because of the fact that we are better equiped to handle such a droid since we know droids better than anyone else. (From the perspecice of the character where a MMORPG is supossed to take place.

heh, you could sell the DE only droid, the other person just couldn't use it...puts no limit on you

2 things.. people please...

1) there is NO CLASSES !!! they are proffessions.. a engine engineer can make engins for tanks, or for a pinto a droid engineer can make droids for combat or for non combat

2) NEVER does a combat medic have to pick up a gun for the "combat exp" never once never at all to aquire ranged support tree... you limit yourself if you believe this.. mine simply healed the group, and threw traps on the mobs, like a stun trap ect.. never had to fire a gun once.. and since I earned pure combat exp it was 10x greater then what I would have recieved using a gun..

it is fact..
