I could verey well explain the rest of the classes

Hehehe...Gveedo, you made the mistake of using the term Class too......

I wastrying to prove to people that aprofession that is precieved to be a combat class can craft items, so what limits a crafting profession from having a combat item?

Making SWG more Star Warsy. One droid at a time.

ok gv, being friends is good and all but i gotta throw down my two cents here

im going to directly reply to your discussion on each class you mentioned, and rate my opinion of it. bear in mind ive done most of these up to the master level in the past

creature handler IS a combat profession. the creatures are weapons, not tools. they serve no purpose other than to fight. the only reason they can do tricks is so that they can heal mind wounds they receive during a fight. scouting as the backing skill necessary to become a creature handler makes sense, as a large portion of scouting gives you a much better chance of hitting a critical spot on a creature. yeah, it teaches you to eat nuts and berries, but it also teaches you to become an efficient creature killer with smaller weapons.

combat medics are indeed combat professions. their entire purpose is to wreak havoc on the battlefield using biological warfare...extremely overpowered biological warfare at that. it takes common sense to know that if you are going to learn the bad, you also need to learn the good, so with disease and poison comes stimpacks. all medics that go out in a group and support a combat team are utilizing their professions to support combat, therefore making them combat professions. it might be the back of the line, but they are still having a direct impact on combat as it is defined in this game.

bioengineer is not a combat profession for one simple reason. the only thing you can do it to is animals. you cannot bioengineer player characters, or non-player character beings other than animals. now, does it kill? it sure does. but, not all the time. thats a reasonably rare side effect of being a bioengineer. the night you were there and i sampled a kimogila to death was more luck than skill, and definitely had more to do with my low skill level as a BE at the time. the higher you get, the lower the risk of angering/hurting a creature, or even killing the creature becomes. my low skill is what ripped did the damage to that thing to kill it.

squad leader IS a combat profession. squad leaders have to do combat to earn more xp (recent patch made this a lot better, so fighting isnt mandated as much as leading). squad leaders also directly manipulate the battle on a scale that a single fighter cannot see.

your final statement about droid engineers "being able to use the tools they create" really is a simplification, and a falsification of what i think you are trying to justify here. just because i work for a company that makes golf clubs, doesnt mean i can play golf. its that simple. adding a second skillset above droid engineer that adds droids only a DE can use would be a pretty haphazard and stupid thing to do. are they going to add a tree above architect that lets them add transformer modules to houses so their houses can turn into giant robots and fight for them? again, im still not positive on where you intended to go with this post...as far as i can tell, i think you are trying to say that you want to be able to make a droid to fight with that only a droid engineer could use...that doesnt make much sense.

droids were put in place to facilitate the beings that created them, not the droid engineer, but the intelligent races of the galaxy as a whole. being able to use a droid is not tied in whatsoever to whether or not you built it. the only profession in this game that should be able to get more out of a droid than it is supposed to put out, should be a slicer. they are the ones that would really have the know-how to get something like that done. a droid-engineer coupled with some slicing ability would be even better. droids are not complex living organisms with intelligence of their own. their intelligence is programmed, and cannot be altered internally through learning experience or by themselves...it has to be programmed by an intelligent being. when you write an intelligence program for a droid, you are, in theory at least, the person that understands that "intelligence" the most. it doesnt mean that you will be the only person that can use it...again, programs are nothing more than logic flows, if you can do things logically, then you can indeed figure out the program and get it to function the way you would expect it to without modifying anything. i for one, do believe there need to be larger and more powerful droids, but i do not believe they should be limited to master droid engineers as a new skillset above that for use...only for crafting.

droid engineers are artisans pure and simple. on a side note, yet somehow unrelated, entertainers are artisans pure and simple. would you prefer they give you a way to make a droid only you could use, or a way that you could play your horn and make a creature dance itself to death like a snake charmer...

the facts dictate that this game is headed in the stupid direction of trying to bring balance to the combat side of the game. adding power to one artisan skillset so that they get the option of becoming balanced in combat means that the rest of the artisans need to be brought back up to speed...for obvious reasons, that simply cannot be done.

most of us that are artisans, that want to do some type of combat, either balance the skills out on a character and never fight on the frontline during battle...or we purchase a second account. thats just the simple fact of the matter.

I agree that our prereqs and our current skills are crafting skills, but what I am stating is that for those that state we are nothing more than a crafting profession, they need to take a good look around.

We are currently a gimped crafting profession. Does that mean that DEs will always be a gimped crafting profession? I'm splitting hairs here, but I'm trying to prove a point. Just because we are a 'pure' crafting profession doesn't mean that we are always going to be a 'pure' crafting profession. A large portion of the 'combat camp' are not seeking MDE-only combat droids to compete with CH pets. We, I'm not speaking for everyone but a few will agree wtih me here, are looking for a MDE Combat Droid that is slightly better than a droid that would be certed to a Combat Profession, because of the fact that we are better equiped to handle such a droid since we know droids better than anyone else. (From the perspecice of the character where a MMORPG is supossed to take place.

i agree with the fact that you do know droids better than anyone else in the game, but that does not mean that you could create one that only a droid engineer could use, or that you would be able to use a droid better than anyone else. you seem to be forgetting the primary goals of your profession. number one, create objects that can be used by players effectively by (number 2) abstracting the differences between an intelligent being and a machine. to say that you made one only a droid engineer could use is basically insulting yourself.

if you do it for DE's...you have to do it for all. the game is seemingly dictating and moving towards balance. this is just a bad idea unless you do the same for all artisans, and all entertainers, and i doubt that it will be done.

you took that job to be an artisan...now you want a combat profession...like i said before, get a second account, or go retrain your skills if you arent happy in what you are doing. more powerful droids need to be made to everyone, not MDE's, otherwise everyone has all they need droid-wise. its up to you to keep the most powerful for yourselves and close friends, or make them so ridiculously expensive that noone will buy them.

heheh since we are freinds and all fluid...

there is only a few professions I havent allready heald at master on one server or another..

my point it the sheep seem to follow the shapard.. meaning people see what they believe the fastest way to become somthing is, and then they jump in with the heard..

yes, you can get the combat exp needed for the aformentioned Professions via using a gun, but its not the only way to do so, I can agree your points are valid, and do have bearing, unfortunatly, I have to point out that you apparently didnt read between the lines of my text..

I do have enough gaull to come out and state for a fact, by the game mechanics you couldnt be further from the truth, if you go through each Profession, and really look at the requirements and the skills they grant, subtract from this the illusion and title, and then justify the game based reality of the information, through this process of elimination its an unarguable fact that my Begaining statement still holds accuratly to the reality, and those who cant see it , probably need either a 2nd look, or never will..

I will admit the whole bio-engineer is somewhat of a ruse to get people to RE-Read the balances within each, and yes, I even seen you personally assassinate as a bio-engineer making it a formidable ( pre nerf ) even if rare force...

lastly if the game development agrees with me, and the player base who have sent me emails stateing they got through the hidden message and found the reality contained within, KUDOS to those who did, and to answer the common place questions I got from the small group that figured it out,

1) yes it was hard to not type this without first building some form of spread sheet..

2) of course the "hidden" information was intentional, you think the 22 referances to it would have been caused by a fluke or chance??

3) why thank you, I have to agree, but I am not the devil, although devilish in this posts construction, I am not inherantly evil..

for those who figured it out, we can contiune to smile as we read on.. peace

Gveedo the debil made me post it !
