Thread: An elite crafting profession where your most expensive good is like 55k...

It would be cool if they had some higher end things we could build, that perhaps yes required rare drops or (like dioxis) rare resources. I mean, you have weaponsmiths, armorsmiths, architects (170k for a BER13 hvy min ext, and i'm sure that's not their best item),

Once in a blue moon I'll sell an advanced R3 loaded for 50kish, but in general the best thing i can sell is a crappy adv probot with max armor and some modules for 29k (that's what I sell them for, let's not digress over +/- a few k).

How about something people would really want?

True.. True... I just started selling droids myself so I don't have kmuch to go by, but I have purchased droids over the last several months so I think I have some understanding of the topic. For an elite crafting profession I think it's clear that Droid Engineers do not get the recognition they deserve, but honestly, I don't think our pricing is lower than it should be. I think the highest price I've sold a droid for was around 70k, but all those 40-50k orders add up over time. I woke up this morning with orders totally 350k, so it's all good. I'm hoping that combat droids will come in a few different flavors so that we can at least have a higher priced droid to sell like other professions do.

Part of the pricing debate is skewed due to differences on different servers.

I've personally tried my best to 'inch' up pricing on Ahazi, so that DEs can all enjoy a higher priced product. The DENet (DEA) on Ahazi has been VERY helpful, in that regard. Woodrow's centralized list allows us to broadcast pricing 'windows' that seem to exist so that all DEs (that are in the DEA, anyway) to know where we all stand collectively. Once that is set, it's not too hard to ask all DEs simply to bump their pricing by 5k a bit at a time.

I do agree that we still suffer from not always being able to give the clients what they want. However, that's a separate issue.

As an example....

You talk about fully loaded R3 Adv on Bria being sold for 55k. Well, I don't know what your configuration is on that but I sell "The Works" (4 crafting modules, 10-item storage and 110 Medical) for 100k. And I can hardly keep them around. I sold 3 the first day I started making them.

So...do your best to drive the market price up. You may not sell as much but if you work with other DEs on your server, you may all be able to move the market price for popular droids up....instead of down.

Enjoy!

I made a batch of R2's with all crafting stations, repair module, storage and medical and I have been selling them for 50k each. I will tell you they are are flying off my vendor. I will be out of them before I finish my next factory run of them.

But 100 droids at 50k a sale adds up to 5mil. That does not even count the sales I am getting from my other droids as well as my BH droid sales.

Try it out on your server. If someone complains about the price you can justify it that this is the last droid they are ever going to need.

Nitro,

You can! Just don't bow to any whiner that wants you to 'drop your pants' on your pricing.

Remember...

Droids can't only be priced on the resources needed to make them. You also have to build in:

- the time needed for you to make the parts and the droid itself
- the experience and knowledge that you bring to a client when helping them to pick/build the right droid for their needs.

- the perceived/relative "value" of the features installed into the droid. Keep in mind that most clients are pretty 'unconsciously ignorant' of how droids can really be of practical use. In other words, they don't know what they don't know. Once you educate them a bit, the price becomes WELL worth the benefits they get.

You could also help yourself quite a bit by working to build a DENet/DEA on your server. This helps immensely to level prices for all DEs into price 'windows'.

I love the idea of placing something similar to skill tapes into droids, so not only can you sell a droid with weapon crafting in it, but it also gives a +15 Weapon Assembly.

And speaking of the DEA, how do I contact it on my server (Tarquinas)?

I count seven modules here. An R2 only holds 5. You have to be explotingthe clusterbug in order to do this and if other DE's on your server are not, that is why yours are selling so well. If the developers take the initiative to count the number of modules on a droid vs. the number of modules they are supposed to hold and make the exploited droids uncallable, you may have a lot of angry customers. Especially if they put thier 250K suit of armor in its storage compartment.

like a Chef has it any better? Maybe if they made the droid fix (tm) a reality folks would want a to spend 55k for one - or any amount for one, just buy more of them

I don't know how you guys do it... I carry that exact same R3 on my vendor in Seacht for 37k. And I haven't sold any of them for a week.

I did manage to sell 2 of them for 75k each by going to Coronet one night after Woodrow logged out (since that's his normal stomping ground I didn't want to compete directly with him), but it required an hour's worth of near-constant spamming to sell them.
