Thread: How much should I sell a surgical droid?
I usually sell one a week. I try and focus on the better equipped droids the ADV R2s and ADV R3s, they're more expensive (60k+) and hold much more armor and modules.
Some docs go for the RP aspect and get the surgical, some the added utility of the R models.
Personally I use anything that'll hold a service module (my power droid is my Clothing Crafting station!).

really depends on your local economy, but mine go for about 45k with Level 6 Medical, Food&Chem Crafting and perhaps an Item Storage Module (with a level 4 armor of course).
Ehhhmmm.... you know storage modules do not work on surgical droids, dont you?
And answering to the original post: it depends on the modules you put on it...

Lets see: there are a ton of things to consider when you set your prices. This is not a "5 cpu" or "7 cpu" or whatever you want to charge. There is much more involved. For example:
- Demand: The higher demanded droid chassis(aka R2s units), the higher the price.
- Functionality: You have considered only your costs when crafting the droid, but what about the beneffit your customer get? The more benefit, the more price. (Example: I usually charge 5k for eachr crafting station module, but if I put them all in a single droid I charge a plus)
- YOUR TIME: I can only play one hour each day, 2-3 on weekends. My playing-time is very precious to me. I just craft a couple of droids each day. To keep me on business I charge a little more than others
These are some things that quickly came to my mind, but probably there are a lot more.
Ah, and FYI: Ive sold seekers for 1300 EACH.

I don't quite understand it...I have nabbed worksheets down, checked pricing on all sorts of places, and everything pops up 'oh, an advanced surgical droid with food/chem crafter, med 6 module, and say ar 4 for no reason...why, that's only 19541 if you give yourself a nice big profit margin of double the cost'....
And then I come on these threads and see 65k...where are you guys getting your prices? 13 creds/resource or something? And then people sell seeker droids for like 1k/droid and they, at the same ratio you are doing that, would be like 3k....what is up?

Offer and Demand.
I started selling droid storage compartiment on the bazaar. No one does that on my planet/server. So I'm the only offering.
I started sell them at 150 each. 20 goes in a fewhours, raised to 200, same, raised to 250 same. Now I'm thinking putting them at 300. But at 250 that's already 10 CPU, and is goes fast. Those are not experienced at all.
I also Sell Tradewell/R5 with level 1 medic module for 1500/2000 and I sell an average of 1 to 2 a day on the bazaar (no other droids than mine on the bazaar).

I start at 10 CPU. For me, that's not an arbitrary number - that what I could sell the resource for if I wanted to. (I'm on Ahazi, YMMV.) So if I could sell the resources for 10 CPU, it really doesn't make sense to sell a droid made from those resources for less than that, does it?
After that, I round up. I don't really spend a whole lot of time actually making droids, so I figure this "rounding error" part of the pricing is sufficient to cover my time. I generally round up about 10% and, of course, make sure I end up at an even thousand somewhere. I also try to make sure that my chassis mostly have different prices - that helps people make a decision when they're having trouble. Hmm... do I want an R5 or an R4? Well, the R5 is 1k cheaper, so I'll take that. That sort of thing.
Now that I've determined the chassis price, I have to add in cost for the Droid's functionality. This is where most of the profit is made - modules don't actually cost that much, but they have FAR more added value than the chassis itself. If you're charging 1k per module you're doing yourself a disservice. Droids don't decay - once you've sold a droid that customer (potentially) never needs to come back. Plus you're selling a convenience, not just resources. Do you *really* think that music CDs cost $20 to make? Not a chance... more like $0.05. You pay $20 because that's what most people are willing to pay, so that's what the record companies charge. You should price droid modules in a similar manner.
I charge 5k per crafting station, 7k for a Medical module, 5k for a cargo module, and 3k for a Data or Repair module. Again, what you can charge will vary depending on your local environment. These prices work well for me and I actually end up being one of the least expensive Droid Engineers on Ahazi.

PS: I sell mine for 18K, fully loaded.

sure, but they might work one day right? I just can't stand to leave module slots empty so whenever I have filled a droids functional modules I put in a level4 item storage module. Don't worry, they don't factor in the cost.
