Thread: Thank the Maker! I have new animation for my fighting skills!
Someone please tell me that they are kidding!
1) "In testing" shows that the Devs have added "Protocol" droid combat animations! Is this a typo?
If not, does the protocol droid now do cartwheels or something when it, like nearly every other droid, runs from the battle? I know, that a protocol droid is very formadible when it comes to fighting, with that 270ish HAM and medium armor! How does one even get a droid other than the DZ70 or Probot to take agro? Once you do, what's the point? If the creature is more powerful than a Durni the droid is going down in one hit.
2) "Fixed bug where probot reassembles after being destroyed"
Shew! Finally! No more auto-reassembling of our probots! Now the over-powered droids will just be disassembled until we can reassemble them with our nifty repair droids or those reassemble kits! Sad thing is they already fight like they are disassembled. Maybe, if we DE's are really lucky they'll stay disassembled until the owner finds a master DE and we'll have to use a repair droid to repair it. *Yeah* that's it! That won't kill our "combat" droids once and for all! /endsarcasm
3) Under pet, it goes on to say that pets will autostore in 4 minutes unless revived medically.
Say, anyone have a droid medpack on them?
4) With the proposed mismanagement of the number of pets out at once limited to one pet of any kind unless you are an advancedCH we may as well pack it in, my fellow DE's, because I know that unless I am crafting, my one pet of choice sure isn't going to be a droid...and who is going to payfor something they pull out in town to say, "Look how cute it is!"? I'll bet only a medic-line professionwill be on our customer list after this!
For the love of sanity,
could the Devsbegin engineeringthis game to be Star Wars in more than justthe name - right after they fix the current bugs? Balance shouldn't be the priority over making this feel like living in the Star Wars Universe!

Disassembleyour C4.Do not throw in the towel. Have you looked at the stats of a level 10 pet? they have someting like 100 more HAM than the Probot. But nota single one of them has any resists or armor. That being said I like the idea of the Probot auto storing after incap. It looks really stupid reassembling itself then just sitting there while I myself am incapped. (I have even tried the /tellpet attack didn't work).
As for the rest of the changes this is what TH said would happen. I am not supprised. This proves that things are happening. And just a TH said we would become a viable profession. I believe it will happen.
Nope, I fear that they aren't kidding... ![]()
Given the fact that protocol droids are being given combat animations, it looks like they are going to just ignore everything that DE's have said, and go ahead with their plans as they stand. ![]()
/sigh...
why are they doing this crud...have any of the dev team watched SW?
I guess R2's will get bulit in Light Lighting Canons now cause R2D2 shocked an Ewok. /bleh

Have you? Geoge Lucas said in an interview, in every movie C3PO gets dismembered. Its been a running gag. And he does in every movie

yes he gets his torn up, he does not go in swinging! The only Combat animation a Protocol droid should have is /begformercy
the only thing C3P0 ever beat on was the door in the first deathstar and R2D2's Head!

Believe me, MachineZed, I know where you are coming from. My alternate thoughts agree with you, but with every update we continue to see things that make DE's less viable and soloing more improbable for toons that aren't MCH or Master Combat types.
One thing to consider about the Probot vs. Level 10 pet is the battery issue and the inability to "heal" a droid during combat. Would you rather have a creature that you can heal by your side or a Probot that is crying out, "Low Power" in the middle of a fight with no way for you to revive or heal it?
I disagree with auto-storing. For the myriad of us who aren't scouts we have no way to pull that droid back out. Not a good thing when you are in the middle of a planet at a harvester. Granted vehicles will probably make that a mute point.
Now, we'll just see tons of people hopping in the new vehicle, rushing to the nearest city, pulling out there pet and dashing back to battle. Why not cut out the wasted time and just let us pull out the pet with some minor restrictions, like not during combat and cannot pull one within 60 seconds of storing another. Those with camps can enjoy the lack of having to adhere to those rules.

So funny, so true, and so sad that instead, we'll be seeing 3P0's toting flame throwers....

ROFLMAO! Now that is a good idea!
This is why I stick with this profession. Because we have good humor while operating with such a difficult system.
Thanks for the laugh, Kav. I hope you chuckled when you read my original post. It was the point behind it.

You must abandon any notions that SWG is based even roughly on Star Wars.
Instead, this is Star Wars in The Twilight Zone. Once you accept this, gameplay becomes much easier and enjoyable.
3PO's with guns, no wars in the stars, everyone working insanely to become Jedi, and Creature Handlers as the dominant profession, it all makes sense once you make the correct paradigm shift.
Anyone remember this scene in the movie????
THREEPIO: He made a fair move. Screaming about it won't help you.
HAN: (interrupting) Let him have it. It's not wise to upset a Wookiee.
THREEPIO: But sir, nobody worries about upsetting a droid.
HAN: That's 'cause droids don't pull people's arms out of their socket
when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.
THREEPIO: I see your point, sir. But I might I point out the DE that built me installed a combat module. So if the wookie were to agro on my little R2 friend I would have to open up my can of woop @ss on the wookie.
Twilight Zone theory confirmed.
