Howdy,
For the longest time, the guess work involved in figuring out the bonus of harvest module has annoyed me. I qlways get asked about this, and I constanly see threads on the boards here. So I went out and did some basic experiments of my own with these things. I made myself 3 harvest droids with differant ratings. I went and picked up novice scout, and then I found a static spawn of Fambaa that I could massacre. I would kill and harvest a single Fambaa at a time, starting with just my own skill. Each subsequent kill, I would use my harvest droid, starting with the lowest one first. After I got enough xp, I went and got the next block of hunting. Back to the spawn I went, and repeated the process. I only had enough skill points to make it up to Hunting 3, so it wasn't a perfect test. Below is the list of results from my outings:

MYSELF 33 Rated DROID 54 Rated DROID 103 Rated DROID

NOVICE SCOUT(+15)(Hide)69 73 78 86

(Meat)5762 6472

HUNTING I(+20)(Meat)727680 89

HUNTING II(+30) (Meat)78 81 85 95

(Hide)98 102107 118/119

HUNTING III(+35)(Meat)81 8388 96

(Hide)101 104 110 121

Each time I harvested, I was sure to kill the exact same creature from the same spawn. I did not use Vegash. I listed multiple amounts when I encountered varying results. I tried to perform each test at each skill level twice, just to make sure. I am working on my own formula ATM, but figured I would be nice and share what I got with everyone.

I spend a little time on the Rangerformulaandmanagedto correct it so itfits withyour numbers.I found a droid ratio of 3.55, not 2.

I didn't do any tests on creatures.I based these formula on the rangers' one and your tests. If anyone wants to help, make make more tests (a master ranger would be cool) to see if the ratio is still good for an high level.

Units Harvested = 1 + (skill + (droid / ratio) + verglash) / 100) * CL * base_amount * (1 + density/100)

skill : Scout or Ranger Creature Harvesting points

droid : Droid Creature Harvesting Bonus

ratio : Here is where i find 3.55

verglash : power of the verglash drunk

CL : Creature Level

base_amount : The creature base amounts of Meat, Hide and Bone

density : The rangers say the creature ressources have a density exactly like mineral, chemical, etc. It's a percent, that changes in the area. Same creatures in the exact same place will give the same amount of ressources. But if they move, the density changes and amounts will change. Strange isn't it ?

Now hereismy formulathat givesthe percent of increase a droid gives compare to someone without droid.

droid / (ratio * ( 1+skill/100 )

With this formula here are the percent of increase droids can give to scouts and rangers, cause this is what interests us DE :

Skill 20 60 90 100 105 110 115 120

Novice Scout (+15) 4.914.722.0 24.525.726.928.2 29.4

Hunting 1 (+20)4.614.021.1 23.5 24.6 25.827.0 28.1

Hunting 2 (+30) 4.313.019.5 21.722.723.8 24.9 26.0

Hunting 3 (+35) 4.212.5 18.8 20.9 21.9 22.9 24.0 25.0

Hunting 4 (+45) 3.911.717.5 19.4 20.4 21.4 22.3 23.3

Master Scout (+50) 3.7 11.2 16.9 18.8 19.7 20.7 21.6 22.5

Novice Ranger (+55) 3.6 10.9 16.4 18.2 19.1 20.0 20.9 21.8

Field 1 (+60)3.5 10.615.8 17.6 18.5 19.420.2 21.1

Field 2 (+70) 3.3 9.914.9 16.6 17.4 18.2 19.1 19.9

Field 3 (+80) 3.1 9.414.0 14.6 16.4 17.218.018.8

Field 4 (+90) 3.0 8.9 13.3 14.8 15.616.3 17.0 17.8

Master Ranger (+100) 2.8 8.4 12.7 14.1 14.8 15.4 16.2 16.9

I've heard rangers saying: a +108 droid harvestsonly 5-10% more then themselves. So there are4 possibilities :

- The formula is wrong

- My ratio is wrong

- These rangers didn't know about the "density" thing

- Rangers hate machines and maths

We got to find a finest ratio now Maybe we should ask on the ranger forum !

I've done a lot of tweaking on that formula after that post and never got it to work on all CL levels. My math skills just aren't up to changing the base harvest amount/CL to a non-linear progression which fits the observed amounts. I still remain confident that that is the only thing this formula needs to work correctly.

Harvest bonus made by chef is a food called Veghash, not a drink or other spelling

The density for creatures does work like all other resources. This has been confirmed in the 2nd part of the Jedi revamp beta when the devs decided to take away the scout/rangers livelyhood by adding an organic survey tool as a village reward which could sample creature resources out of thin air, fortunately, this never made it live.

On the whole, I found that at Master Ranger the droid took so much time and control that the bonus it gave didn't weigh up against the faster harvesting without it.

There's maybe a mistake on the base_amout*CL, but as i said, i'm not a scout at all so i can't verify this part of the formula.
But do you agree on the second formula that gives the percent ? If this one is correct, it's just fine for me. All a client wants to know is "How many percents more than me will your droid harvest ?".

This is great data even it the formula may not be 100% accurate. Great stuff! I hope that those with better math skills than me will continue to work on this. Thanks for all the great work!

Yeah, the number crunchng I did does work with harvest droids that are around 95 or less. Once I start calculating for a droid with a 100 harvest rating or higher, then my expected values always surpass my actual gains. More Master Scout/Ranger data needs to be obtained in order to work this out.

For one, was the spawn the same the whole time? It would have to be the exact same lair.

Two, I have had Master Rangers say that they harvest way more than any droid.

What makes you say that ? Do you have the data ? We can imagine they put a cap, when a droid is over 100, it's reduced to 100. That would be cruel.

I'm going to sticky this one for everyone, in hopes that more data can pour in, to verify that things are 'accurate'.

Great work everyone.
